They know me well
I know them too
Acknowledged me not
Part of common crew.
When they learned
I authored a book,
I became their crowd
Giving me a familiar look.
Then a conversation ensued
Between them and me
About my poems and themes
Asking my book for free.
I knew this would finally end
That they parted as long-lost friends.
Abram and his book of Job
The greatest story he was ever told
a book of survival of the hardest love
To teach of the Father up above
It was taught him that it was true
Like Lazarus to us through and through
Of all the gods he had heard of before
This was the god that he would adore
The hidden and the silent
The only one who, loved him as a son
As fathers often do
Omnipotent, Omniscient, Omnipresent was He
Who loss of no thought, presence or difficulty
He was all as all could be
Unimaginable to just that degree
Creator of all of which none could flee
I imagine Abram as he first said "Me?"
And God in his thoughts said "Yes, thee."
No contrails draw patterns in the sky
No vapor trails leading to exotic beaches
No kisses where planes flight paths cross
No jet engines roaring in the night sky
to whisk you off to far of places in your dreams
No men's knees as white as snow
No bikini lines or flip flops
and aloe vera just a house plant
the latest romance stays unread
and no one's been shot dead
the camcorder battery stuck on red
No sangria or tequila sunrise
No throwing up and bad hangovers
the drink umbrella rather bigger
as we don't always get sunny weather
don't despair I'm going places
but there is no beach no waiter service
No airport transfer
No pool no show
as I've booked a week at mygate
that's right, the one at the end of my garden.
Cuddling close, near bedside table
a blanket wrapped, cold rainy night.
Mind thrums journey, a book on navel,
playground of words, feelings delight.
As vermicules squirm, sculpted souls spark
lighting white pages, of zillion black letters.
Trailing love, smile, thrill,... adventures dark,
touch of sadness... hostile heartless haters.
Opens Alibaba's cave of jewels and gold
wafting thoughts sail on magic carpet.
World of strangers, imagination unfold
Just can't stop,... reading has started.
Wilderness of books, a grandiose treasure,
a corpus of knowledge, exciting...arcane.
Shelved floor to ceiling, a visual pleasure
drunken in syllables, an addiction insane.
Soft slow caress, of flipping through pages,
book in lap, heavy eyes.. droop to slumber.
Heavenly relation, warms solitude cages,
Bookworms, !!..why we slang?, I often wonder.

I’m telling you this, it’s no rumour -
Some people knock my sense of humour
So I’ve ordered a cab
To take me to rehab
With poetry I’m a late bloomer!

Eleven Minutes
As your heartbeat echoes mine
we dance to the ocean tune
in slow anticipation.
Tender is the night.

His bluest eye, oh that blue,
Like the azure sky above;
As deep as the blue ocean,
Dead eyes, fathomless.

calm and tender is the night

murders, mayhem, anarchy,
