At first appearance
you stumbled drunk and slurred words
I was not impressed

Daughter

I wear the cords around my neck like jewelry.

I cry my tears as if I could drain the whole sea.

Mommy will be terrified by what she’s about to see, While dad falls to his knees, ready to plead.

Sorry, Mom

Sorry, Dad

Who knew a lottery ticket could buy you a lifetime payment?

Xin loi me,

Xin loi cha,

For spoiling the seed buried inside me.

Better luck next time— At least now, I’m free.

Author's note: In "Postcards" I painted one example of a relationship scenario. This piece presents an alternate possibility.

She left me a letter,
Hoped I'd understand.
Things like this happen,
It never was planned.
Sorry she hurt me,
She knows it was wrong.
Tried so hard to love me,
But then he came along.

No use feeling bitter,
It wasn't meant to be.
I'll try to forget her
And move on, c'est la vie.
What I thought was true love
Was just one of those things.
Oh, well, better luck next time,
That's how the pendulum swings.

Friends tell me it's better,
And I'd like to agree,
But what if this past time
Was also the last time,
And there isn't enough time
For a better luck next time
For me?

Many times problems only warrant serious attention,
when the finish line banner is in sight.
And generally it reads,
BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME!

To Late You Can'T Skate

to late you can't skate
you didn't make the team
sorry better luck next time
don't get mad at me
scored high on your
figure eight
but the night is over
put up your skates
too late you can't skate
the parties over
to late you can't skate
grab your skates and go on
we're open in the moring
ah quater to ten
but the night is over
I said with a grin
too late you can't skate
come back tommorrow
go home and practice
work on your form
do some caligentnic
it's to late to skate
the night has ended
to late you can't skate
the night is gone

Sylvester was about to abduct Tweety
But Gran pinched his cheeks and called him sweety.
She put him on her lap, he reluctantly purred
While he kept his beady eyes on that yellow bird.
He leapt from her lap as she started to snooze.
"Now's my moment! How could I lose?"
But he disrupted Grans sleep when his face hit the mat.
Tweety exclaimed, "I saw a naughty cat!"

Pushing For Success

In the aftermath of any competition, be it sports or otherwise...
We will see a gamut of emotions in the mass of humanity in sight..

There will be riotous screams of joy and jubilation, laughter and smiles galore..
Fist pumps and high fives, happy faces all around at the victorious camp.....

We readily quip, to the victor the spoils of a victory most deserving...
To the losers we empathise and wish them better luck next time...

To be fair, all players deserve recognition for there was none who participated just to lose...
So if we downplay any successes, it is not doing justice by the best efforts of our children...

Every junior player, we can safely assume, he/she has done the best possible...
Look at the blood, sweat and tears each time they train and play their hearts out...

Those who achieve personal bests and better their rankings, congratulations!
Those who falter, train and work harder, gear up and go for the next competition...

Centerless

We are very sorry to report to you
that your particular maze has been constructed with a fatal flaw
and is actually lacking a center
So you will unfortunately not have the opportunity in this lifetime
to experience the sense of success and accomplishment that others
with perfectly created mazes will experience
We hope this does not cause you too much undue distress confusion and pain
Better luck next time !
NEXT!

Broken Promises of This Year

Hello New Year
I heard you'd be comin soon
At midnight I waited
Standing under the sparkles and gleamers of hope
Counting down the mistakes of 2011
Counting up the calories of a resolution
Better luck next time 2013
Here's to you weight watchers
I guess I didn't do so good just watching

Better Luck Next Time

My heart...can you find it?
I can't feel it in my chest
Ever since the emotional hit
Leaving me months of unrest

You'll be fine, better luck next time

Every woman looks like the same
Decent hair, poor skin and a sight of breast
Nothing but another bland dame
Why can't I simply just rest?

You'll be fine, better luck next time

Lying alone in bed waiting
my supportive roommates in love surround me
I can't bear the noise as I'm debating
What is next in life for me?

You'll be fine, better luck next time

....oh shut up

Pushed Up By My Heart

How disappointing,
My excitement prior to this moment.
It’s the same outcome every time, but
I always am hopeful.
Hair styled to seem natural,
Make-up giving me an angelic appeal—
Should have been perfect.
I should stand out.
He looks to me slowly,
Then continues to cover the rest.
My lips must be just too red,
My shirt faded blue.
I keep anticipating conversation,
Maybe more than just “hello” and “how are you”.
But he’s got his eye on someone now,
She looks kissed by the sun,
Peachy cheeks cosmetics can’t get just right.
He leans in towards her,
Sizing her breasts, hips and thighs.
I continue smiling,
Feelings at the back of my throat,
Pushed up by my heart.
He says “Thank you, better luck next time.”
All us pink ladies file out,
Fingertips sweating onto our scripts as
We throw them in our bag with all the rest.
Usually I tell myself “next time”,
But I can’t seem to bare anymore no’s.

Interstate-Four

long lines of lights lining up and lighting up
the midnight asphalt that drives me
in shear exileration I accelerate
jocking for position like in a steeple chase
blurring images of lost faces
as I pass you by on my 8 cylinder high
wind whipping around no cop to be found
pushing the limit to warp speed
to fulfill my urges and needs
giving away to all my lust
caked on with highway dust
rolling thunder tway to quick to ever rust
as I turn it on filled with lust
high volt energy pulsing through
pounding faster than my heart
leaving you behind from the very start
better luck next time
 hear them wind chimes
that's the sound of my sonic boom burying you in smoke
your ride is so pathetic what a joke

Car Chase

So, now you've got your flashy
                                       SUV,
           you zoom around the neighborhood
                                      to see
                how flattering all envious eyes
                                     can be;

but then, nobody seems to ever
                                      mind,
              their jaguars, porsches, limos
                             make them blind,
not yet, you're still not one among
                                    their kind;

you think you've made it big with one
                                    freebee,
well, better luck next time, who knows,
                                     maybe,
seems you're still way far behind them,
                                      baby !
