Premium Member Their Precious Jewels

where *Sharia reigns
women are precious jewels
hide them from the world
let no other man behold
the diamond that you possess

guard that precious gem
her ovaries will get hurt
if she drives a car
yet Sharia will permit
your woman to be chauffeured

letting jewels drive
could lead to prostitution
yet young gems are mined
and driven to Syria
Al-Queda’s ruby pleasures

dancing in the rain
two Pakistani sisters
shame their family
honor killings rained bullets
on pearls that smile on YouTube

where education
is horribly unbalanced
Jihad goes crazy
a gem shot by fanatics
receives the Nobel Peace Prize

For Richard Lamoureux's Let's Talk About It Poetry Contest

*Sharia (Islam) the body of canonical law based on the Koran that lays down certain duties and penalties for Muslims

a five- tanka series done in traditional syllable count. (Well, I hope at least a few of them are decent tanka!)

The Battle For Tiger Hill

It was nineteen ninety nine
a battle was about to begin
between the Indian Army
with the soldiers from Pakistan

My name is Yogendra Singh Yadav
a grenadier awarded the Param Vr Chakra
the highest honour for gallantry
this is how the fight begun

A stone loosened and fell as we climbed that hill
after three nights of carefully silently climbing
the Pakistan soldiers opened fire
from bunkers metres above us not a good thing

Neither up or down we could go
heavy firing caused eighteen officers and men
to retreat leaving just seven jawans
with one hundred and thirty five men above us then

We fired at the nearest bunker killing the men
the Pakistani army came to assess our strength with ten men
managed to kill eight but two of them escaped able
to report back now we were in a predicament

I carried twenty five kilo of ammunitions
the battle was fierce, we killed thirty five of them,
my six soldiers were killed also,
I was alone, lying amongst the corpses

They shot at the corpses making sure all were dead
I received fifteen gunshot injuries and my gun was taken
had grenade in my pocket, i pulled the ring and threw
landed in cap of one of the soldiers, exploded,he was on his way to heaven

They thought the indian army had returned
I picked up a Peeka rifle off one of the Pakistani soldiers
killing five soldiers, heard the voice saying retreat
to attack a MMG base further down the hill

I dumped myself in a drain, in no time was at base
saw the officer Lt.Balwan advised Pakistan army was on its way
Charlie and Delta was deployed to help Bravo Company
This resulted in the hill being taken by the Indian Army

This war took seven hours, and Tiger Hill was safe

I have been given a plot of land by the Utah Pradesh Government for my part in the battle.

Reference I used

Targil Battle - Tiger Hill (I put that name into search engine). Seven hour battle that won Tiger Hill.

Security of My Homeland

Sitting on the boundary, defending Pakistani border,
Not feeling alone as its Almighty Order,
Security the way I take Almighty Pleasure,
Face all troubles Don’t matter how Harder,

You the sword of nation, and country pride,
Chest you up brave heart, don’t sit aside,
Strive for success in the battle field,
Chase your enemy, don’t you Hide,

Protection of country lead You earn the Heaven Above,
Vaporize your passion like blazing stove,
Nothing is important then the worth of Homeland,
Give your best as you do in Love,

The honor, dignity and delight of Martyr,
Takes your soul so Higher,
As the pleasure of real success is Eternal,
So! Don’t evade, never give up, Not be Tire.
(Feel it alright as The Best Man do a Best Job as You! ! !)

A Planet of Pain

Kids dying for diamonds in Sierra Leone,
Innocent civilians killed in Iraq’s warzone.
Indigenous tribes removed from their lands,
Children in the Congo losing legs and hands.
Arms companies still supplying while civilians are dying,
Kids begging on the street while the rich keep buying.
Sex slaves sold, countless stories untold,
So much unnecessary hate in a world that’s so cold.
Shameful, disgraceful racism in South Carolina,
Tens of thousands of baby girls abandoned each year in China.
Discrimination will never disappear, it will always be here,
Numerous Pakistani and Somalian women constantly living in fear.
Diarrheal diseases in Bangladesh, killing over a hundred thousand children each year,
While Libya continues torturing citizens for drinking a beer.
Botswana and Swaziland infested in HIV/AIDS,
In the Central African Republic a Coca-Cola cost more than grenades.
War hysteria in Syria, Kidnapping cases in Nigeria,
Human rights violations in all parts of Algeria.
Endangered tribes in the amazon crying for help but nothing is been done,
And when’s the last time a child in a Brazilian favela had any fun?
Corruption levels in Uzbekistan and Zimbabwe remain at an all-time high,
Shocking and Inhumane laws condemned by the government of Brunei.
Genocide in Darfur, millions dead from starvation in North Korea,
The US military has ruined beautiful Diego Garcia.
Chocolate child slaves whipped for working too slow in the Ivory Coast,
And celebrating thanksgiving is nothing but a genocidal toast.
Poverty is everyone’s responsibility, and it continues to increase,
A violent environment, that’s allergic to peace.

Kalam E Iqbal

(Bal-e-Jibril-151) Javed Iqbal Ke Naam:
(On receiving first letter of Javed Iqbal(Late Son of Dr Allama Iqbal) in London)

He was the son of the poet-philosopher Dr. Muhammad Allama Iqbal, who inspired the Pakistan Movement. Javed authored various books on Pakistan's nationalism movement and political ideology. 1.Diyar-e-Ishq Mein Apna Maqam Paida Kar
Naya Zamana, Naye Subah-o-Sham Paida Kar
Build in love’s empire your hearth and your home;
Build Time a new, a new dawn, a new eve!
2.Khuda Agar Dil-e-Fitrat Shanas De Tujh Ko
Sakoot-e-Lala-o-Gul Se Kalaam Paida Kar
Your speech, if God give you the friendship of Nature,
From the rose and tulip’s long silence weave.
3.Utha Na Sheesha Garan-e-Farang Ke Ehsan
Sifal-e-Hind Se Meena-o-Jaam Paida Kar
No gifts of the Franks’ clever glass-bowers ask!
From India’s own clay mould your cup and your flask.
4.Main Shakh-e-Taak Hun, Meri Ghazal Hai Mera Samar
Mere Samar Se Mai-e-Lala Faam Paida Kar
My songs are the grapes on the spray of my vine;
Distil from their clusters the poppy-red wine!
5.Mera Tareeq Ameeri Nahin, Faqeeri Hai
Khudi Na Baich, Ghareebi Mein Naam Paida Kar!
The way of the hermit, not fortune, is mine;
Sell not your soul! In a beggar’s rags shine.
Kalam e Iqbal(Answer to First Letter of Son of Dr. Allama Iqbal By Himself).

Premium Member Beat Your Wife, Cause Is Right

Yes modernization is here
Islamic rules have made it clear
Pick up a small stick
And beat her to the wick

Make her understand
Obey your command
Pakistan is the modern land
Live like a man and beat at command

Only though because you care
To make her subservient and thus obey
She must follow your Islamic commands
And bend over for perverted desires in your satanic land

Now death to Israel
For they have committed the crime
Of being modern in un-modern times
As they saved the wounded of Syrians blood

They embrace humanity
Pakistan grabs a small stick
And strikes fear in the sexes
My god is there no common senses?

Notes: This is not to condone or condemn any Country. Merely to show how at times biases take things way out of context. At times the world decries one death, as in humane as next door hundreds of thousands take place under the silent ones of oppression.

Secondly this is specifically about The Council of Islamic Ideology a powerful constitutional body that advises the Pakistani legislature whether laws are in line with the teachings of Islam. There interpretation is of course ludicrous and I am well aware true Muslim worshipers would never follow such violent and antiquated teachings.

This came about from the CNN article http://www.cnn.com/2016/05/28/asia/pakistan-women-light-beating/index.html on the topic. On weekends I often partake in discussions at a Middle Eastern coffee shop, people from all over the middle east, where we have lively discussions. So it’s of note that this poem was the summary and views of the Muslim mates are I was sharing tea with.

Of note, many of them in their own countries could never voice any dissenting views without being tortured or killed.

The Salt of the Earth

Who is the Salt of the Earth?
Is it Pakistani musicians making music with pyramids and suffering?
Is it Pakistani musicians finding suffering in heart problems and untimely
hospital stays?
Is it Jordanian warriors tied to their culture, but yearning for the love of the world?
Is it soft hearted geniuses doubting their own efficacy but yet affirming my soul?

Who is the Salt of the Earth?
Is it Divinity Students weighted down by the complexities of a God who would
forsake the downtrodden?
Or good hearted economists calling them commies?
Is it bow tie wearing conservatives who feed my mind yet bring a wry smile?
Is it Lesbian ethics professors who wage war on injustice?

Who is the Salt of the Earth?
Is it Jewish prophets of industry who volunteer to fight on the front lines and
receive stress and conflict in return?
Is it Jewish prophets of industry who write with courage and integrity to
publishers who shun the very idea of the Divine?
Is it cross wearing angels of administration who work behind close doors of
schedules and student suffering?

Who is the Salt of the Earth?
Is it Buddhist clinicians who start health care programs and help the unfeeling to
feel?
Is it loving pastors who pray with sincerity and conviction?
Is it a woman on the street teaching the rest of us to be grateful?
Or is it some wonderful euphony?
Or is it some wonderful euphony of people in conflict, yet all serving the same
goal?
Or is it some wonderful sound, as a sweet incense that though we refuse to
understand each other or consider the others vantage, together because our
hearts are good,
Together because our hearts are good.
Together because our hearts are good, we become a sound.
We become the sound of rushing water, and preserve the earth as one.

War On Terror

Navy Seals, they are the boys
no mistakes or error.
They have gone and rid this world
of one man and his terror.

Holed up in a Pakistani house
hidden behind a twelve foot wall,
there became no hiding place,
oh how the "mighty one"can fall!

His body washed and put to sea,
oh let us take a breath,
is this demon really done
is he put to death?

No matter what your faith
or what your point of view,
there is one thing oh so clear
we have to see this through.

Let us take a moment,
although we"ve lots to fear,
and appreciate a victory
mark this day and year.

Say a prayer for all who mourn
at the setting of each sun,
and join their mighty cry..
"Let justice please be done".

perhaps i should have looked away
my mind takes me back to the general store
of black liquorish sticks red cobble stone walk ways
the reading of immortal poems as william mason

sounds off hot off the press the negroe spirit soar
something that only vachel lindsay could ever explore
while the birth of confusion balances over land and sea
perhaps i should have looked away as your scaly form

crawled over my flesh the flame flickered
the lantern fell your gloating pout captured me
in your haste in your lure daintily aimously mine eyes
leadeth me through hidden trenches a cold damp stynch
of blood soaked wood weeping moss throughout

the musty bayous perhaps i should have looked away
while white sheets were being draped startling
my trembling wide knees stifled my embrace
as i clung to my father's fist lincolns hat tumbles
kennedy's heart rumbles

while my pappy's blood smeared over france
staining britains arches flowing throughout
the niles of jordan pouring into pakistani borders
perhaps i should have looked away

while staring into my blind grandmother's
faithful gaze as her hands clapped the sound
of many men while hatred spread a contagious
outbreak silencing syria corrupting mankind

perhaps i should have looked away my mind captured
followed by this ageless odorless soundless calm
liquifying malice greed and shame into a vile mist of envy
seeping through the pore's of green pastures contaminating

golden corn green giants purdue farms honey suckled plums
red delicious apples into rotten tomatoes tye dying tainted cotton
fields of hanging levi's perhaps i should have looked away then
when none not even one of us could see hear fear evil nor end

Bless China and Mao Zedong

Bless China and Mao Zedong

I have partly decorated my Christmas tree bless the Chinese for
the blinking fairy light, blue and yellow strings I think symbolise angels’ hair
not that I have seen any angels with blue-rinsed hair.
I haven`t put up any baubles this year it is a bother to put them on the twigs.
My shoes are bought in the same shop they are ok, but don`t last long,
I feel guilty now my socks and undergarment are made in China
that is how you destroy a country`s economy buying from abroad; it`s cheaper
for us on the low income, it is a vicious circle, more people get laid off they have
little money and had to but underwear and socks shop at a Chinse shop.

The wage for workers in the USA is now so cheap Pakistani factories are moving to
Detroit and Michigan, but for it to succeed the Americans have to build better
roads and new bridges. I digress the tree is fit for purpose comes in 3 sections and can
easily be kept in the shed until next year.
So bless the Chinse for making our Christmas possible this year too

Premium Member Malala Yousafzai

Let me tell you a story
of a brave Pakistani female activist,
Malala Yousafzai.
She stands defiant and unabashed,
with a pragmatist approach to women's rights.
Wrapped in self-confidence;
truth bears witness to her strength.
A woman who needs no man to think for her,
she approaches life
with her head held high and eyes wide open.
And yet, she often wanders
through a minefield of traditions
rigged to explode without warning.
She defines who she is,
not by how others perceive her;
but by how she perceives herself.
Her heart confronts the harsh light of reality
and directs her soul to seek more from life.
Although her dreams aren't ignored,
they're often dimmed to see past their hopeful sheen.
Fear is a cunning emotion,
using deceit as a means to an end.
Demeaning words get strung together
like a barbwire necklace;
and their intent leaves little doubt.
And yet, She stands defiant; for feelings of equality
are firmly anchored in her heart,
and it will take more than a bullet to dislodge them.

When Dreams Met the Eiffel Tower

A dream for many a watch for some
The Olympic journey, Here it comes!!
It was in Paris, few days ago
It rushed a shiver from the head to the toe.

Flags carried through the Seine river
The horse was galloping in the water, even the ring of the high jumper
In the city of love, the flag was hoisted upside down
And all witnessed by the mighty Eiffel Tower.

Starting with the game of Pole Vault
A game not known to many by default
Mondo Duplantis broke the world record
Not only was it the world’s but it was also his own record.

Next is the pride of India, in shooting
Manu Bhaker with double bronze, proving
that doctor and engineer are not the only professions for a women.
Creating history for India on many levels.

Gymnastics is a sport that cannot be forgotten
It was a display of skill and expression.
Simon Biles and Jordan Chiles bow down to the gold medalist,
Showing sportsmanship with a twist.

It was time for the Pakistani athlete to prove his nation’s worth
Arshad Nadeem with a throw of life or death
Creating the new Olympics record in the world of Javelin
Leaving the previous champion with a silver.

For India the well-deserved gold was in question, Sports isn’t all colors
The event of wrestling brought lot of tears
Vinesh Phogat was into the finals
But 100 grams put her back in spirals.

The sport of badminton was not far off
Lakshya Sen with a heartbreaking rip off
Defeating many unexpected, to play the bronze medal match
But placing 4th after almost creating history.

The journey of many ends here
Like Mutaz Barshim who had the gold near
But, is satisfied being the bronze winner
For he is the most decorated high jumper.

The gold dreams of the Indian hockey team thrives
But the journey of Sreejesh, the goalkeeper revives.
The team walks away with bronze
Not only making India proud but also the “state” of Kerala.

A dream for many a watch for some
The Olympic journey, Here it goes!!
It shall last in memories for all, but
it has now left a magnificent show.
