All that glitters is not gold,
     Friendships are my nuggets,
     As I grow old.

     Some are shiny and new,
Some require rubbing to remove the tarnish,
Some come out when no one is about.

     All have value,
     In my mind.
Each have traits I find sublime.

     Every one of my friends,
     Has a diamond shine!

The Callous Truth

Do not believe all that’s told
All that glitters is not gold
It might look glittery, shiny, and bright
But deep inside there is no light

I saw this woman, she looked pretty and nice
When I got to know her she was cold as ice
In seconds she went from goddess to vigilante
Choosing black is safer than gold can be

She was fire when I first saw her
Burned when I touched her, I shouldn’t have bothered
After all that’s happened hope is dainty
For not looking out for myself I really hate me

When you put all your hope and trust in one
They break it apart and it is all gone
All you have is broken pieces
Looking at it your mind reminiscences

Thinking back on mistakes you made
Do you wish that it would fade?
In your heart, it is stuck forever
Will you put your trust in one? Oh I would never

There aren’t bad people in this world
Just moral people who have a grudge they hold
There is truth waiting to be told
All that glitters is not gold

Premium Member Two Ordinary People

You were no Cinderella at the ball,
But, then, I was no Prince Charming, I recall.
We were two ordinary people
Who fate and chance had brought together,
But by the time the dance was through,
We'd found romance and we both knew
That for two ordinary people
It was like a fairy tale was coming true.

Ensuing years have proved that life is not a dream,
And all that glitters is not gold, as it once seemed.
But when two ordinary people
Vow to join their lives together,
Then all the ordeals they'll withstand
If they face them hand in hand.
That's how two ordinary people
Make the magic work without a magic wand.

I'm not a prince and you are not my princess bride,
And I couldn't slay a dragon if I tried.
We're just two ordinary people
Who kept a vow and stayed together.
But when it's blessed by true love's kiss
Ordinary can be bliss,
And when I think of me and you
I know some fairy tales come true,
And even ordinary people
Can have a happily ever after ending, too.

Author's note: Dear reader, this is another of my personal favorites from yesteryear that was also selected to be included in the first PS anthology.

The Perfect Act

'Cause all who wonder are not lost
Through the warmth and through the frost..
I wanna be trapped with sweet relief
Trapped with a million belief..

'Cause remind me this once more
All that glitters is not gold..
I am no saint, I am not pure
Look into my eyes, it's just an allure..

So love me till all these last
Stop the future and forget the past..
Love me like winter, feel me like spring
When the rain starts to pour, give me your wings

The autumn will come and go, revealing me to you
Shedding my guard and ringing me true..
At summer we'll take the last breath and mend our heart
Promises of being together, till death do us part..
When the seasons wipe out and the light comes on
You end your act, and the mask's gone..

You smile, you go into her open arms
She's tall, perfect and all charms..
I look on, never losing a smile
Acting my part, a part so vile..

I put myself to an eternal sleep
As you sow, so shall you reap..
There are no complaints, absolutely none
I'll look after you, till the heavens drown thy sun.

To Touch You

Oh, how I long to touch you
it’s just that “I’m all thumbs”
and you deserve much more than just
                            a few remaining crumbs!

“An arm and a leg”, I would give
for one more chance, you see
But then again, if that's the case,
                            just where would we be?

You know that “I’m all ears”
                     for any thoughts you’d share
But for a man “all thumbs and ears"
                           just why would you care?

“It’s as plain as the nose on your face!”
I need “all hands on deck”
But with my lips, (I just have two!)
                               I could kiss your neck

“Ants in my pants” I hear you say
But just what would you know
As you’re the one here “all dressed up
                                  with nowhere to go!”

“If all that glitters is not gold”
and I’m “all talk and no action“
Take off the makeup and go tp sleep
                            We’ll get no satisfaction!

Illusion

Illusion

It looks like what it is not
It's not always what it seems
All that glitters is not gold
Though it's summer, some feel cold

At the point dream meets reality
Reality may become an illusion
It leaves me blinded in oblivion
Until I say my opinion

We live in a world of illusion
I've seen blind folks with vision
Mirror images give lateral inversion
Yet we admire the distortion

The same way we love to brag
Even when there's nothing in the bag
O'er the board we nag
Weakened by misfortune some sag

On the pulpit mounts a humbug
Tongue spitting gibberish
Hallucination baptised as vision
Ripping off his sole mission

The more we look, the less we see
The devil plays the Saint
Bet not a cent
In the darkness lies the truth

Images in the head like kaleidoscope
Flight of ideas sweet as honey
Ecstasy sweeter than ******
'Tis from grass; illusion

Drinking From Inverted Cup

Impossible isn't it! But it made you peek in!

All that glitters is not gold but gets a glance
For stunning, sparkling shine

First impression is the lasting one!

Contrasting colours, unconventional shades,
Strange pictures, three dimensional covers,
Title that seems improbable,
That ignite curiosity to buy
are some ideas that sell

Carefully crafted catchy words captures attention of readers
Enchanting cover evokes enthusiasm, eagerness and expectations

But make sure contents match up to expectations generated
Content creates character gives name and fame

Bible brought in bulk even by non Christians
Largest selling book in world, because of its contents

Without substance, presentation looses it's value
Book of substance automatically sells,
for its sale presentation holds little value

Dip Into the Unknown

Just the other day, I had drawn an imaginary castle
I knew all the pathways to the glittered dreams
As I got nearer and nearer to touch
The dreams started blurring with reality
The pathways got narrowed down, even for the sun to gaze
 the wicket closed off me
Despair overshadowed my life

As I ambled in the lawn
The moat delighted with the reflection of the sun
There is no such thing as ‘lost hope.’
When ‘life’ is still there
That’s when a new life commenced as I awoke.

There is nothing to fear but fear itself
All that glitters is not gold
I chose to dip my whole self into the unknown
Into the sea of the likelihood
For each day to have a new and different sun
To have an endlessly changing horizon

We’re all on a quest for true significance;
real encounters; inner peace and inspiration.
You will take my hand, make no mistake
Just like the sea shimmering in the sunlight
Well, I’ll take what you give and
oh, so much more, ‘cause
The fear of the unknown,
Does not scare me anymore.

I wonder what on Earth the waves might bring...

Imitation Love

though glittering more
All that glitters is not gold
but imitation

imitation gold
wife imitates husband mood
imitation love!

Premium Member The Model - In Melania's Own Words

Why I married him God knows,
For all that glitters is not gold,
Was it pride or just ambition,
Was I just a mirage sold.

I’m a woman not a Queen
For a King that wants it all,
Beauty, trinkets, the good life,
His demands take quite some gall.

They forget that I’m a model
Of the run-ways not the halls,
Give me light and adulation,
Not the hustings nor the polls.

Let me live the life he promised
Of the pampered trophy wife,
Little caring of the details
With no thought for other’s strife.

I may sound unduly callous,
It’s my heritage of birth,
A people molded by adversity,
Of solid muscle, not wide girth.

Hear these words now loud and clear
In case my motives appear trite,
He promised wealth for my rare beauty,
The only trade for me that’s right.

So what the media calls me needy,
I do my duty and then some,
To Mar el lago am I headed,
This draughty White House makes me numb.

Good Night

It was a Saturday night
I couldn't sleep well and tight
I slowly pull the hinge of the door
The only sound was my footsteps on the floor

As I went out ,I started feeling alive
Felt the fresh air and the soft breeze
It was so cold I thought I would freeze
The only living thing I could see were the trees

The moon shone like glitter
All that glitters is not gold ,it was silver
The sky was like a glittered gem

I see the stars shining bright
As I walk In the dim streetlight
I went back home and turned off the light
And I wished myself a good night.

While I Sleep

While I sleep
Angels Weep
Faeries cry

Wishing for something more
My love is deep
but yet I mourn

This World can be more
But yet hope is fleeting
It takes all big and small

Black is Black
White is White
and a lie is never the truth

Half is never a whole
The right is never wrong
standup and be strong

All that glitters is not gold
Everything is not to be bought and not sold
We are human beyond price

Love of life is forever
Love of money is a dead end
Where do you put yourself

C'Est La Vie

The greatest story ever told
Begins with men daring and bold
Put to the test
They tried their best
But all that glitters is not gold
