Contest Description

What to Submit?

1. One New limerick on the theme of summer. Make them funny, humorous or bawdy. Poems written before 6/27/25 will not be considered for placement.

2. Lines 1, 2 and 5 must rhyme and have the exact syllable counts. ( 7-10 syllable counts) Lines 3 & 4 must rhyme and have the exact syllable counts. (5-7 Syllable counts)

3. Please see below regarding how to write a limerick. Meter is also important but should flow with the correct rhymes and syllable counts.

See below:

Limerick poems should have five lines with the rhythm AABBA, which is a pattern that determines the lines of the rhyme. A given letter of the alphabet represents the rhyming sound, the rhyme scheme begins with the letter A and uses a new letter for each ending sound. The form AABA indicates that the first and second and the fifth line should rhyme with each other. The third and the fourth line, on the other hand, form another pair of a rhyme scheme.
