Wet Behind The Ears Poems | Examples

Summer Love

I’m a lovesick puppy dog.
Torn between “wet behind the ears” and growing into maturity.

Much like the process of drying fruit, if done properly, it gives the substance more flavor.
If
Done
Properly

And it begs many questions,
Makes me open my eyes and look into the less obvious.

I’m not at all surprised by the loss of my breath,
Not from anticipation, but from the catch in my chest.

It says, “You’re caught.”
It says, “Sit tight.”

I choose to find beauty in the unknown and uncertain.
And I have a feeling that what’s going to happen.. is just starting to begin.

Dear Temporary Bliss,

I Sense a Shift Amidst
When I No Longer Crave Your Embrace or Your Kiss
Reaching For The High Hanging Fruit
Wet Behind The Ears, "Know It All" Youth
Suspicion Birthed By Intuition
Mercury Retrograde Enhanced Mis-communication
What A Situation I Have Found Myself In
Barely Hanging On to the Rope of Tolerance
Patience Account In Overdraft and Fading Thin
But The Wife In Me Will Surely Win!
Silence is Loud When Truth is Eluded
Fruit Picking Like an Opportunist to Opportunities
You Can Fool Them, But You Can't Deceive Me
For You See
The Crone in Me Knows The Truth
Her Flaming Torch Will Be Your Retribute!
The Lord Who Came First Has Long Departed
Leaving Behind an Amateur Who Can't Grasp How This Situation Started
Masked Grandeur In A Truth Parade
Is It Me or Yourself You are Trying to Persuade?
Sorry, Not Sorry!, I'm Not Drinking Your Sour Lemonade
Your Version, Illusion of Love Has Left Me Bored
My Time, My Energy and Sanity You Cannot Afford
No Regrets At All for The Time Invested
It's Just That You're Not My Type and I'm Not Interested!

Premium Member Credentials Are Essential

The only interest I have in politicians,
Is how accomplished they are,
Some country's definitions,
Fall short of this by far.

They vote for future presidents,
For their charisma and charm
Without looking for evidence
That lack of government knowledge
Could cause world wars and harm.

Once voted into office,
All management will go askew
Because they are wet behind the ears
With no idea of what they are supposed to do.

What is their reason for applying for this position?
Ego and greed is a dangerous addition;
To add to this sad state of affairs,
Who cares?

Nobody, it seems,
The whole world is in a mess,
Because the powers that be won't address
The fact that is essential
To employ people with the credentials.

I An Idea Crucified In the Eye of the Storm

They insist on it, what is natural can be supernatural. Vice admiral eat from my
garden for I am quite admirable for your beneficient militia that is multi-national against the hexagonal eldritch terrorists if not have had an assist we would be wet behind the ears. Protect us from the unorthodox fears that have us bleeding wine from our ribs cut and skewered by spears. There wailing bewildered angry screams making us bleed tears.

Little upstart, young showboat
Lots of bluster full of gloat,
Been there minutes, thinks he knows,
Blind ambition and it shows.

They say he's bright and tough to boot,
Compared to me, now that's a hoot,
What's Yale and Harvard, simply names,
The constant ones he repeatedly proclaims.

As to the Navy, are we to be impressed,
He only served so he'd be thought best dressed;
The lawyer bit, now that brings on a shiver,
The very thought entwines my liver.

Now as to his wife,
I will admit she's rather nice,
But then let's pause to look at mine,
And tell me if she doesn't her outshine.

So there's no doubt whichever way you cut it,
I Trump this kid with character and wit,
He may be smart, but I'm the stable Genius,
Him all hot air, with me my smarts are intravenous.

As I ponder how I should react,
Knowing I’m the very best at tact,
I thought I'd stick to what I do so well,
While he drones on, I'll just my winning vision sell.

America needs me, not some kid wet behind the ears,
Whose monotone delivery brings us all to sleepy tears,
With me you get that vibrant lively spark
The choice quite clear, a Guppy or a Shark?

The Book

I went for a walk
I looked forward
To a book lying
Ready to read
Read; sitting on the porch
The road ahead
Clear as day
The sky opened up
The rain poured down
Poured down on me
The sun lighted up the rain
The bus driver floored it
As he passed me by
Wet; soaking wet
The rain stopped; suddently
I went by the stadium
The artificial turf shone with life
The sun hid behind a dark cloud
Now; I’m reading a book
Wet behind the ears
Sitting on the sofa

Sung In

"Sung In"

We are notes
on the tongue
of God

Each of us words
in a never ending
sentence

Music is math
God breathes us in
out of Time

We are but droplets
past and present
participles

wet behind the ears
unable to hear
the full melody

of
"what is this song?"

We move
punched out
perfect and yet wrong

holy and unholy
chords pulled tight
and we are automata running

under the pedals
of bare feet bleeding
playing a symphony

We do not fully understand
and we are slowly
beings being

low tides
caught in the ripped veil
sung in

blind
unseeing

The Five Percent

Seasoned as a veteran yet wet behind the ears
Judged by the plastic men some call their peers

How is it they are blindfolded to what is simply true
Head in a cloud, ignorance outloud life without a clue

Ludicrous to be ignoring this however life goes on
Happy to be the lowest piece proud to be the pawn

So many corrupted things people choose not to see
Thinking that they really live in the land of the free

Change isn't happening and 5 percenters just get worse
Who is it that they'll kill next just maybe I'll go first

Young couple
just starting out
wide-eyed and innocent
still wet behind the ears
bursting with
dreams and hopes

Opening each day as if a gift
blessed with children
to call their own

Not yet overwhelmed
with burdens
brought on by the years
not yet disillusioned
by the obstacles of life
around the corner

Weathering the storms
they stayed strong through the years
faithfully lovingly devoted
renewing vows
with each anniversary

Obstacles

If the world broke form the ceiling what words would it be shouted

The thunder, the passion, the charisma was left at the door
Tie of a ribbon lost of balance is this true true of love

The words the shelter the guilty of shelter who is one to judge this passion storming above

Tie of a ribbon lost of balance is this true true of love

Wet behind the ears kiss of a mint
Days that are colder then the Appalachian of shelter door

Who have heard of such love stories bring back the joy

Tie of a ribbon lost of balance is this true true of love

If first is to to be serve and last is to be mention i say these story i share is of her love.

Oil

Some people are green with no life experience. Wet behind the ears. They can't work a washing machine. Life for them will be hard. Vertical learning curve.
Others are yellow. Real back stabbing bozos who'll step on your corpse. Not looking over their shoulder as you burn. The worst type of plebs. I know many.

Brown - Never Once a Bad Boy

In the cuddles of your memory I drown
You were a fluffy handsome breed
A personality brighter than brown
But your colour sealed your collar

In you this boy found a best friend
Lessie became lesser known
Your bark reverberated my childhood
Wagging your tail never a frown

Both of us still wet behind the ears
You never learned a single trick
I could never train you to sit,
But you could sure fetch a stick

You had such a fast dash
Catching a bird brought much joy
Nightly I prepared your dish
Brown, never once a bad boy

The poems have been flowing like a river

Must take advantage while it happens

I think they say, “while the iron is hot!”

Other very familiar idioms like...

“A bigger bang for your buck” sure has sexual overtones

“Take the bit between your teeth”

Again, do they all have sexual overtones or is it me???

“Tail wagging the dog” uh-huh

How about, “Wet behind the ears!”

Sounds like someone has been keeping their tongue busy

I like, “Peter out”

Now if that doesn't conjure up an image

“Wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole”

YIKES!!! I wish!

“A hard man is good to find!”

LOL! Nothing to add here!

“Make a clean breast of things!”

No explanation necessary here either!

“Middle for diddle”

Now this one should be at the top of the list

“Caught by the short curlies”

OUCH!!!

One last one...

“Keep it under your hat”

WOW! Now I'd sure like to see that!!!

Mary

great aunt, kissed me yesterday
after bidding fond adieu's
to fleeting flashbacks of youth

streaks of invincibility
stiffened her spine when a gentleman came calling
courting her future
a legitimate suitor
awkward member in good standing of the
Chicago Fire Department
A man unaware of the elements due to generations of Irish breeding
mule, mick, jackass, workhorse, turf-cutter,
he responds to all equally
stones of rough leathered hands... make him free
to cast a roving eye, flash a quick smile
share a wink with a girl hanging laundry out back to dry

aunt kissed me today, longer
holding on to that sweet floating feeling
that anything might happen
and would
when the Holy Trinity cuts her a break
if Paddy can turn the other cheek
oblivious to water that Mary's mother threw off the back porch
onto his only brown suit
onto his pride
onto Halsted Street
bright Sunday morning in June

The triplets had ruse in motion
ascetic, etched from strict culture
preordained her new life of solitude

Paddy, fresh off the boat
wet behind the ears
soaked in shame
never came back
auntie grieved
unwed
will always kiss

First Love Visits

I dreamed of you again
The first love of my youth
I wonder what takes me there
Exploring you again
Wondering how decades later
You still come to me
In my dreams.
I know we will never be together
Our lives so different now
But when I dream we are
And our love so strong.
I was just wet behind the ears
When I fell so hard
You just made me feel
Everything around me was new
The last time I saw you a gift you gave
Still friends we are some 35 plus years later
But you told me you loved me once more
And there was the closure I had needed
So many years before.
Then why does it happen again
What does it mean this time when
I dreamed of you again
