A BRIAN STRAND PREMIER CHOICE Poetry Contest
Sponsored by: Brian Strand

THIS IS AN OPEN(organic) FORM VERSE without grammatical symbols the ' open' relies upon 'the one breath limitation' & so inherently requires the 'reader' (reciter) to input and respond thus making the form a two way interplay and often a unique interpretation by the enigma so derived. ( Poem inspired by Poet Brian Strand Form)

At the Philadelphia Flower Show

At the Philadelphia Flower Show
we plotted and planned our future life
that was the first time you called me husband
and I delighted in calling you wife
we made a wish on every bud
every elegant and extravagant display
the tulips called to our lips
and we lovingly obeyed
we ran barefoot across floral bridges
and danced with rainbow Perennials
windmills of majestic Daylilies
whispered summertime testimonials
we were lost outside of time
lost inside the paradise of our sacred oath
these exquisite gardens remind us both
of what in life matters the most

Barn Burn Party

Off from formal stage's pageantry
Collisions of pewter play tenor to horn
Vessels filled with mead, wheat-gold,

Foam. Monks trade lines with scops
Who tile a church, swapping agricultural
Know-how. The technics prepare

Bard for a solo harp song in a barn
& there’s to the Caddy’s tune gathering sway
Lost so unquotable. Nightshade, potatoes,

ions, herbs, good gods & the animalistic
Sex. From a source outside chaos:
Terms return thermal bundles,

Predicaments inside time's homophony
From alloyed spinal column. A donkey
Drags a blade through red sea's surface dirt

Meshed in with hay dank from contra-
dictory earth—these testimonies to greater-
Thans. Cyber sectors offer testimonials

As a means of convincing discerning surfers to
Bypass impasse & buy by following the crowd.
Data suggests but there’s this thing in hand:

A cattle-bolt electron split down the
Middle; a steel beam cut by narrow flame;
A diamond-footed tub with fresh extracts.

Premium Member Story of My Life

Shattered and battered by the inequities of life
Dark nights hindered shrouding luminous skies
In a childhood that missed the thrill of playgrounds
And adulthood that ran a solo sprinter’s marathon,

Crossing continents on pedagogic visions of joy
When testimonials of knowledge bestowed wings to fly;

And there I landed far from where nothing was
And molded its shape into works of arts and crafts
From humble sketches outlined in the grains of sand—

In prairies of essence now a happy abode stands.

Premium Member Clothing Optional

Devil sends his advocate to recruit us from the office.
Is this a joke? I ask, thinking it must be.
The advocate comes in with a flourish,
Throwing her red satin cape around with a swish
As she sits daintily on the arm of my boss’s chair.
My boss jumps a few inches. Scared probably.
She is armed with brochures about how nice Hell is.
She has testimonials too. A slew of them.
Probably gotten through torturous sordid ways.
“It is warm all year round,” the brochure says.
“The devil allows all kinds of debauchery,” the testimonial says.
“Marshmallow roasts hourly, and you can have s’mores.”
I am not tempted to sign on the dotted line until…..
“Clothing optional.”
Hmmmmmmm……………..

Tick Toc

Tick tock, tick tock, tick, time ticks tirelessly, tick.
Tricking trance’ers, testing too.
Touching tenderly, thoughts, tick.
Takes time to think, take time, tick.
Try to transcend to the tested table tops.
Tinker, tickle, take the time-tested transitions,
Transcribed testimonials, tear touched, the trials,
Tribulations, telling tales, traditions, trepidations.
Treacherous, the track, turns to terror, tripping traps,
Taking time, the torture, the terseness,
The time taken, time the teacher, taunting.
Takes time to think, to thwart this teasing
Time taker, tick-tocking, tick-tocking.
Troubling, twisting thoughts that truth testified,
Tangible the ticker, to touch, to trash, tick tock,
Tick toc… trashed!

God Blessing After the Storm

Every needle
Every stick
Every catheter
Every surgery

Watching my blood
For three hours
Run through a machine
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
It was my job 5am
3 hours

6 years experience
On my life resume
I have scars to show
Long memories
Never leave my mind

Testimonials to tell the masses
Giving up
Got tired
But on the wee hours
On April 14, 2009
Unexpected phone called

Life changing
I heard those sweets words
You are a match
Get to the hospital
You're getting a kidney transplant
I knew my God
Have a strong purpose
To be fulfilled

Poetic Prison

Incarcerated thoughts scream of
Liberation from dreams
Desires sentenced to be written
Guilty of emotions felt
No longer hidden
Judged by pen held
Witness of the eye
Thoughts become testimonials
Half truths and silver lie
A life sentence passed
On words of romance
Dreams, fears of the past
Prison of the mind holds
Dark secrets of night
Forbidden pleasures
Hidden desires
Tortured dreams
Barred behind what is
What was
What is seen
Jury of the heart casts vote
The soul executes judgment told
Chance for release granted
In written dreams
Freedom arranged
Exonerated on the page.

A pink tortoise shell is neither a flowery design or a baked jelly mould as babies can move very quickly in a midday sun and muddy middle aged cars can rise to form circulating capital circles in many cases of the sky. Sports partaken by rainbow lodges can sing. But a successful spooning whale is dressed to go to a ball with forty nine trees, a yard brush, and a lively creamy iced bun. Jeopardisation lies in pies lined with oil. And carrots plus potatoes equals lettuce. Pointing placing planting planning potency pot. Potentiometric symbols of a shrine. Tailored fatty pretty prawns racing. Hahahaha and number if spots on a small bullock. Hahahaha testimonials xxxx cake clap. *** z

ScatterBrain/ Misdeeds! ©

From my scrambled mind brews quagmires of twaddle---
I try to assimilate wisdom with lyrics….
My mouth slags ‘lost’ for proficient words ---
And fall short when none come to note!

But so many vulnerable targets lay in ear shot---
'Truths' indiscriminately slung, do injure when worded….
Only an ‘embarrassment’ is to be my reward if done ….
Endless intakes of ‘mouthed’ disbelief become outtakes---
And are ‘rooted’ for ‘non-favours’ to testimonials given…?
I step back and think ‘thrice’ before I let my ‘wits'....
Blow and pass out ‘slurred’ scatterbrained thought!

Premium Member Time

TIME

A.
Time exists in testimonials encased and framed.
Each singularity proud and erect standing beside
and supported by a lone consort.
When recalled and rendered within,
No pause is seen nor heard, except
when played in very slow motion.
From beginning to end we discern infinity
and see the process as one motion never completed.
In a blink of an eye, eternity exists.
The story gets told in the afterglow;
lingering as ripened fruit on an old tree.
Revealing time as ringed markers; remnants
of what was and will never be again.
A collection of the Creator's intent.

B.
A sweeper follows your every vector
locked in folds of a played out sector
As procreator, with no beginning and no end
that all before cannot amend.
Thy sly requiem nestled beneath the sun
appears to gloat in what's begun
as ancient rhyme created by design
and recorded in an eternal shrine.

 SYNOPSIS:

What is Time and Space?
Hard to describe in human terms.
When I think about life
from beginning to end,
it seems implausible to even
contemplate but like a fool,
I try.
