Swadling encrypt the contrarious slopes of a mired
entity coursed veinous stammer spurts bled
across a court of an unchallenged befitted named
as valor cornered the bleached to be razed
spirits encapsulate the branded sole championed
glory dazed betwixt ears of an abandoned
waning light fills purple sighs 'ill eve succumbed
bitterness spilt the downtrodden weighed
hung kicked a life out of bound the final scored

     Can composure somehow be taught
       pre-packaged ‘poise lessons’ bought

Can’t say I ever gave it a thought
‘til I watched a WNBA 'game'

Premium Member Pennsylvania's Governor's Economic Forecast

Since when did governors offer advice
on the NBA draft, teams just roll the dice

         Josh Shapiro told ‘his team’
         Ace Bailey’s low self-esteem

Pick him and tickets will go for half-price

Notes: NBA = National Basketball Association
Mr. Shapiro is the Governor of Pennsylvania
His team - the team he cheers for - is the Philadelphia 76ers
Ace Bailey is a good collegiate player with 'issues'

Tall and Soft

Written By: D. Collins 6/11/25

Nothing could explain how soft OKC probably is.
Blocking out? And a max of 4 points from a big?
They have no Charles Barkley who sat in their laps.
Ensuring they couldn't jump and came over the back.

There was an umbrella around the rim in the old days.
Now 4 out of 5 players stand around to shoot tre's.
The game has changed to where it's played without thought.
Just step out of bounds, throw it in, and get ripped off.

They throw it into to SGA then do nothing at all.
Stand around the perimeter hoping they'll get the ball.
No cuts through the paint to finish at the rack.
I'm just wondering whatever happened to that?

The Real AI

Written By: D. Collins 6/6/25

Big men shivered when he got into the paint.
Knowing they're a victim of his vicious faints.
He had the meanest crossover anyone has ever seen.
Even Michael Jordan got postered on our T.V. screens.

He was a little man with the heart and will of a bull.
Made many so-called professionals look like a fool.
None of the NBA teams had an "answer" for him.
When we thought he wouldn't he'd flush it at the rim.

He made all big men respect and fear the little guy.
Often shaking their heads from a heavy dose of AI.
His mark on the game should stand out in our minds.
He was the best little, big man to play between the lines.

She talks trash like an overwrought magpie

The media compares her to the great Caitlin Clark
~ though almost all Angel’s shots miss their mark

US Sports Report

When playing basketball
being tall is best it's thought
but that's not all
wearing saggy baggy shorts on the court
needs keen hand-eye coordination
plus being fleet of foot
and have no quibble with dunk or dribble
if through the hoop a Wilson you wish to put.
As for American football
boring from the sideline I find
it's more talk less action
namby-pamby as opposed to rugby
which is wilder less calmer
and without all the body armour
now there's a game with some traction.
America's pastime baseball
is another matter
whether pitcher or batter
with Rawlings or Slugger
when on the mound I have found
unlike soccer or rugger
before a ball the hurler throws
and the pitch is hit or caught with a mitt
first rearrange the private parts in public
twitch the cap and then spit.

Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscope

A man unsure of how to address women
walked into a tube of colored glasses
and bits of painted paper.

he was brought up as a Presbyterian, were
women were held in high esteem
wore long gloves when going to a ball.

He thought the color in the kaleidoscope
where tartish-like women dressed in red
standing on the pavement near a bar.

Yet he felt drawn to the colorful women
they exited him, unlike the young women
who looked dowdy at the church.

He thought of sin and a moral dilemma
should he pay a woman in a red dress
see what it was all about, the sex thing?

He did and had a hell of a time; he did
time and time again until the day crabs
danced on his eyebrows.

A Double-Sided Coin: Playoffs

The roar of the crowd fills the air
The whistle blows, my heart pumping
Bucket for Bucket, foul for foul
A free shot soon to be coming

A needed break for the fans and players
As the game comes to a pause
The team devises their next move
A new perfect plan without flaws

A tense feeling overtakes the room
As the game is nearing a close
As every viewer is on the edge of their seat
A team’s grit and clutch begin to show

The end of a tied game, the tension rises
One chance and one shot each team owns
The suspense, sharp in this one moment
As both team’s fate still unknown

As the ball drops through the net
The crowd arises in loud cheers
One team is left with joy and victory
While the other is left in sorrowing tears

The Big Tuba

The soups and breads were fixed
know seemed to have interest
In that. One commented that the
Chickens used in the soup were as
big as geese, naming one kingKong.
Garlic and margine was used with
Garden herbs to create the croutons.
He would be a one man ed gang to
complete all the tasks still needed to
be done before the party goers arrived.
She like using terms for the chores
which were incomplete and offered to
do them herself, Fee-end she spoke of the
staff lacking to clean both softshelled crabs
and the softshelled crayfish. They should be
I ed of put in the frig she said.
Leaving the crew of one puzzled. A hall of fame
to the genius who invents a robot who isn't afraid
of my tongue lashing. Until the both you and I are
are at best the seasoning of which is to follow.
The need to be on time and prudent.

Turning the Table

Trailing, doubts arise,
Then a spark, the tide will turn,
New lead takes the court.

Basketball Blitzkrieg

Fast break, a blur,
Points rain down, a sudden storm,
Net sings, game over.

Untimely was Hamilton Hicks
In making his basketball picks.
He knew it all well,
How each bracket fell,
But always too late with his clicks.

Lady in Red

Mist wraps around her like dreams,
Smart-girl vibes echo in whispers,
She struts through rain and thunder,
New money shines bright in her eyes.

A locket swings close to her heart,
Memories whisper through each droplet,
She dances as storms gather round,
Each step a pulse, a fierce heartbeat.

In crimson hues, she breaks through,
Gripping life with soft yet strong hands,
Thunder shakes the world beneath,
But she walks on, unbothered, free.

Basketball Match

Lift voice on air
Yell last hurrahs
Ball not come in.

Powerless jump
Tall guy rebound
Ball on long hand.

Point guard dribble
Pair by pair watch
Clock is ticking.

Score tied match
Desperate move
One sunk the three.
