Superseding Poems | Examples

Premium Member Art And Loving

Tendency is, to apportion
Love:

like slices of iced sweet
at a party

braying festive, 2 playful swipes
at a swinging, loaded donkey

(not the husband this time)

toffee for the dear loyal mate --

allotment of love, for precious children;

for all our Prayer-family, appealed
a canopy of blessed shade, like that
bible gourd,

cat and dog needing, also,
some petting reward – no special
reason...just because --

to the poet, as with painter,
superseding costume body of flesh,
art is voice-echo and representative
image

one's deeper beating sentient part

ventricle tools, the writing pad, the brush...

more poignant the words,
broader the expansive, lyrical stroke:
ruled paper or mystifying canvas~ the soul,
a bottomless well from which to
                                     creatively
                                        draw
fluid destinies

for controlled dabbing

abundant dashing-splashing

spirit-inspired

awesomely appealing

saturating pour --

Premium Member We Shan'T Forget You - Battle of Britain's Longest Day August 15

They were young starry-eyed, yet too soon so many had to die.
Brave to a fault with wanderlust of youth, no challenge spurned however seemingly uncouth.
In azure blue skies with only clouds as friends, they sought their prey through war's myopic lens.
No quarter given and none spared by their foes, incandescent bullets superseding schoolyard blows.
Skill and verve no match for destiny's roulette, to survive another day an all too losing bet.
Still they flew and fought with all their might, for love of country protecting it from blight.
Summoned by that bell with its strident chilling tones, pervading every pore of their worn and tired bones.
Verve and duty each relying on the other, no place to hide but raw courage as their cover.
For all those boys that fast turned into men, saving our isles from sweeping plain to gleaming glen,
We shall remember you forever in our lore, the few that gave so much and often so much more.

Pursuit In Spacesuit 2

If on earth it is called Nevada
Then in space it will be Escapada
From space how the stars twinkle
And my earth’s many a dimple
Want to have zing like athlete
To fit the norms of a cosmonaut
Miles kilometres and fathom
Nautical miles I scale in ton
Light year and millennium space
Will be my weapons so ace 9

Poesy relish and poetics balm
I apply during space storm
Superseding all space norms
I excel as a sapien in form
Being a man I really deliver
When it needs any endeavour
Space for me is an object
Of spirituality and intent
May Lord equip me with all
That will be handy and extoll 10

Space is my ultimate passion to solve the mystery around it.

Premium Member Slippery Slopes

Shamed me down away
The losses higher than imagined
Briefly here we stay
The lessons hard to learn ingrained

Slippery slopes of peril
Hopes to derail
Progress slower than a snail
No pace to shout about

Still within us all
The seasons passing
Greatness superseding madness
Colloquial of passions sadness

Ever Wonder

Does your mind ever
branch out onto imagination
Or are you anchored
to someone else's
expectations?
Can you describe
being alive
without using
biological
 terms
Life shouldn't
be allowed to dismantle
our dreams so easily
We should be able to
close our eyes
and birth trees
where skies hold our roots
and heaven gleans
it's leaves
We supplant
the power of seeds
superseding golden harvests
producing new energies
from everything we touch
Do you ever wonder
like I wonder?
How hands held
turn sidewalks
into yellow brick roads
and wherever you go
my imagination follows
 Every thought
  an offspring
waiting to be named
I may have the male
anatomy
but she impregnates
every part of me
One touch
 and I test
the limits of being gifted

Premium Member Cell Phone

You're encased and protected
like a medal of gold,
embraced with a handshake grip
that never leaves
one's hand cold.
You're given a charge,
and now you're in charge,
superseding
the best friend,
the favorite pet,
the work ethic,
and even the prospect
of the opposite sex,
unless a tool for conquest.
Your scroll is spread
like bread before the bored.
A thief of time,
you cease to afford.
Windows of electrifying
mystery reveal
a stroll through
history's collected knowledge,
yet the conscience
drifts, given a mirror to vanity
and a need-it-now mentality.
We claim one
for every family member,
Even the youngest,
especially
the most impressionable.

Correct
Superseding the content
If this is what is required?
To be considered
Taken seriously
Then so be it
Preacher
Or am I at fault?
Are you my teacher?
And I am a defiant student ?
Devoid of prudence ?
Ignoring the letter of the law?
To take or be a part of?
I am a simple uneducated common knave
Who wishes merely to exchange
But blessed without the knowledge to engage
Is destined to be dismissed
For though my muses resonate
It is neither for your pallet or plate
As sadly you are the keeper of the gate
The status quo
Of partition
Which pacifies admission
To the top table
Of cultured earshot
And so I write each day every night
In search of the work that may just might
Pray upon a soul less deserving
That replies upon an inner stirring
A troubled heart earns
A second reading

Fifth Symphony 1

a sweet legato melody fragment
pithy and memorable violin
giving way to pounding heart
atavistic relationships of
attendant focused forces
i do not love you except *
because i love you

sweet battles of the long war of love
articulate measures of lust
superseding the insidious invasions
fleeting moments of sorrow
i go from loving to not loving you

motivic relationships minor versus
major..thorns of the last war
my love moves from cold
to engulfing infernos

Without Words

This poem is from the Ten Pictures, Ten Poems, Ten Poets, Ten Days
challenge by Debbie Guzzi

Painting #1
Blue and Green Music - Georgia O'Keeffe 1921

Without Words

Quiet
rivers whisper
amongst themselves
praising each other’s dance,
captivated in transit. Delighted
by the opportunity to
speak without words.
Utterances pass
beyond
imagination,
rivers silent,
charmed by
one another's
gestures.
Passions superseding what
fingertips brush over:
a scarf lost in the wind
blindly finding her way, a
sheer curtain waves reaching
for a blue sky.

Thoughts of you
render me helpless
with just one—
stroke of a string
without words you
have painted me
joyous.

Ugly Poet

My poems are weak and the verse is lacking
And At this moment you're attacking
Correcting and dissecting
And inspecting it for flaws

You're reading it and bleeding it
And plotting superseding it
Of this I'm sure you're capable
And I salute you all

While sitting here and writing this
It brought me tender happiness
The words were dancing fairies
stomping circles through my head

The letters started whirling
Then swirling and twirling
And stacked themselves in patterns
forming combos in their stead

These markings joined with others
As I pressed on with a shutter
Which direction was this leading?
I was eager to discover!

And in time I surely found it
And was pleasantly astounded
How the lines had stacked together
and the meaning that surrounded

Premium Member Love Through the Ages

A bliss so old, yet void of functional losses
seemingly very simple- making them a divine binary
exhibiting commitment cutely disciplined, fashioned and pure
superseding the training of a hundred seminaries

Just holding hands and perfume’s scent
bring back memories and give a fresh experience
oldskool tease and creative naughtiness
generate uniquely a specific ambience

Periods had gone, stages were set
yet getting stronger, phase after phase
despite all extremities and pressures boldly faced
the bond enjoys water, making the union such an unbreakable vase
love through the ages, strengthened by a thousand cords
powerful and exemplary, only death can be its landless lord

In Support of Google's Self Drive Car

I know that I have called this a sonnet, and I recognise that it falls short of such an esteemed form, but it is my first attempt, please forgive me.

in SUPPORT of GOOGLE'S SELF DRIVE CAR

a black tarmac warrior
a technology killing humanity worrier
plotting a course at one hundred kilometres an hour
his fatigued mind begins to wander

they want to take away his freedom
to replace his skills and wisdom
superseding his brain with one of silicon
technology supplanting humanity beyond his reason

Isaac and I Robot showed the way
when with technology protecting humanity we will rue the day
while his mind remains resolute, his car begins to sway
because humanity in control is the only way

then in his old age, his is the first generation
with no licence, but independent automated motion

An Apology To Charles Mackay

We are ashamed, sir dear
We are ashamed.

Neither the earth glistened
In the ray of good time,
Nor we are still
In the way of good time.

Pen is serving, not right
But the mighty lord,
Kneeling bowing bending,
Instead of superseding sword.

Nations still quarrel
To prove them stronger.
Men are being slaughtered
For the sake o f honour.

Men are being burned,
Terror rules the world,
Birth, not the worth
Still fools the world.

War, the monster of iniquity
Has worn different masks.
Somewhere proving pride
Somewhere deadly tasks.

We couldn't bring the good time
The good time once you dreamt.
‘'Let us aid what we can''
We have forgotten what you meant.

Lemon Squeezers

There is no society under the sun which
Claims to be free from elements hurtful
Affecting the harmony and tranquillity
That helps society to remain cohesive.

There are lemon squeezers everywhere
Cutting across the social order steadfast
Superseding the firm affectionate bonds
Those cement the warmth among humans.

Such people are sadistic by default sure
Who by sheer urge of their nature pervert
Find themselves busy, squeezing lemons
And spoil activities of their fellow beings.

It is like rodents destroying fine drapery
Though it will not help to fill their belly
But never the less they harm the material
Find appropriate friends in such persons.

Their personality reflects a bend hideous
For which there is no medicine found yet
And all the lexica of the literary world
Find no apt words to describe such nuts.
