Two mighty boats beached
End of voyage reached
Captains’ judgement call
Rust consumes them all
Run aground and caught
Well-laid plans for naught

Premium Member WONDER
Pink skies infest the starry dark.
Pest sprays reject the fireflies’ spark.
Bald eagles chopped by green windmills.
Right whales lie beached as sonar kills.
Rage that I can no longer view,
Bids my sense of wonder adieux....

Premium Member Bottoms Up
Beached the sun-bleached bottoms
of small boats color the sand scape,
safely turned bottoms-up
far from the high tide’s line.
They lay in wait beneath the teardrop rain,
huddled from the bay’s breath, they hide.
It is only the lap of languid wave that bides.

Into the distance tracks of life reach Worn rails from the rounds and rounds Looking back on images bleached Soon beached to then run aground For as we travel life's tracks Greened scenery caresses both hearts But sadly life doesn't run so smooth Just like tracks they can soon apart

Water Under the Bridge
Too many indigo tears

The Ocean
hides them beneath
her broad blue checkered apron

White capped waves skirt across
a memory
an act
drowned
long forgotten

Vomiting up
salt and brine
debris that won’t
stay down

Resurfacing, beached
upon
tomorrow

An
old shoe
someone once

Whales live in the ocean
So it's pretty rare to find
A whale beached in Iowa
But it doesn’t mind

It swims in the Cedar
Takes care of the cattle
Stock breeder
Wildcat hill

Eventually, it’ll return home
Back to the plains
Iowa is all he’s ever known
The land of Ames

In Memory Of William Marshall Ferguson...

Lost What I Adored
Lost What I Adored
My soul has been transformed
Lost what I most adored
Now I’m much too bored
I feel like a beached whale
That swells upon the shore
Now life seems like a bloody gore
As a child I hoped for so much more
I feel as if an angry lion has roared
My flesh he has torn
My life’s filled with so many chores...

Boom
Where once I saw the sun flare like a peacock, fish bones hiss on a shale whipped beach, banshee’s are dredged from sandy graves, spume slaps nests of air. Waves boom inside my beached ribs. I am so full of sadness that I hear myself mew like a gull in a gale when it tumbles as flightless as stone.

BEACHED
                           broken
                        abandoned

                     to the cruel sea
                  which unrelentingly
         scatters driftwood on the shore

" where beachcombers each day explore"

When None Command
When None Command

By surging sea and force of wind
A tattered vessel floundered in
Where coral reef performed the rest
In ripping wide her wooden breast.
From timber scream to cracking mast
Her form dismembered to the last
And on the waves her pieces reached
An aftermath of slumber, beached.
She is a silent reprimand
To those who sail
When none command....

My auntie who lives down in Bude Would always sunbathe in the nude She looked like a beached whale - Her fanny’s off the scale This eyesore should never be viewed! A Spiritual Warning
He decided that he wanted to be Welsh;
this vague idea took shape in the shapeless.

All the Big Mac’s he had ever consumed
began to alter his form.
they changed him into a cute
small white Beluga whale,
being a privileged white man
it made a kind of sense.

‘No’ he shouted
into an eager and responsive universe,
'I said Welsh!'

Later a Welsh speaking whale
was found beached
at an outdoor swimming pool....

The Call of Nature
Upon the oceans rising swell
Albatross, penguins, seals as well
On the surface, or down below
For eight months the life they’ll know

Natures call to procreation!
And miles from their destination.
Until that call, life was so slow
For eight months the life they’ll know

For most when destinations reached
Most babies born where mothers beached
Done, back to sea where they’ll grow
For eight months the life they’ll know...

At the Shore of Self
I have walked
              on the grinding edge
of my wind-sharpened shores,
              have talked of myself
beside the surf of myself.

I am grown thin in the service of
        speaking thoughts out loud.

Where the shingle washes
beached starfish,
long-drowned words uncoil
                to raise my voice
above a roaring silence.

Still, an in-coming tide
swallows and forgets,
        swallows and forgets....
