Itinerant

I’ve worked in oil fields,
facing danger for good money,
I’ve sailed on the crab boats
where the oceans churn and freeze.
I’ve drove the long-haul truck,
through the ice and much up to my knees,
I’ve dug that black gold coal
so the people have light and head.

I’ve worked the power lines
and been nearly fried, yes, it’s true,
I’m an itinerant,
cannot stop and I don’t want to.

I’ve dug a soldier’s grave,
so in peace they’ll lay restfully.
I’ve laid with lonely wives,
that’s why all your kids look like me.
I’ve been a handyman,
fixing your doorjamb and windows,
I’ve worked the carney scene,
on the rides helped all the kids go.

I’ve cut in the Maine woods,
as a logger should, what a view,
I’m an itinerant,
cannot stop and I don’t want to.

I’ve worked behind the bar,
slinging beers out to tired men,
even been a crossing guard,
so children go home safe again.
I’ve swept up city streets,
to see them filthy the next way,
I’ve worked the onion fields
in the hot sun outside L.A.

I’ve done so many things,
making my money someplace new,
I’m an itinerant,
couldn’t settle and don’t want to.

Minds Tides

The trees rustling, sound like the oceans
Coming up to shore and going out

Slowly calming sounds of the motions
Knowing a crab is walking all about 

My life is also like the oceans 
Constantly seeking approval of life

All we have is our emotions
Screaming into our eyes


As I’m laying here, not by a beach or a crab
But reality is sad, but clear

My back is flat as if on a slab
Restfully and peaceful, but longing to be there

Mind slowly shutting down
Darkness claims my body

My dreams are spotty
But always around.

Staring down Stairs

Spirals downward ending in a platform
The end of the descent, the end of it all
A way to silence the eternal storm
Going out with one loud bang

A hush goes through the passageway
Not often one wanders through here
All alone as I ponder the many days
And which ones make it worth staying

Would I sleep restfully if I took the jump?
Or start everything all over again, and again
Looking over the edge, in my stomach a lump
Teetering over the rail, and back onto the floor

Maybe there will come a time
In the near, or distant future
Where I will make my final rhyme
As I stare down stairs for the last time

This Rest

Sunday’s leap
and praise
This rest
among friends
in cozy pews
communing 
with God
The greatest honor
I wish
all knew
The love
on fire
Holy Spirit
spire
This rest
with eyes and ears
on word of God
The word
that cleanses
No pressure
to be perfect
whilst being perfected
When you love
HIM
you WANT to please HIM
Practice makes perfect
this rest
Each day
restfully obey
Lean into HIS holy arms
Lay on his lap
The blood of Christ
afforded that
The curtain was ripped
Its thickness cut
The entrance couldn’t be entered by man
only one man per year
went past
Sometimes it was curtains
for the priest
Now
all who accept Christ
have peace
to rest
in HIS grace

Wherever she blows 

Whispering wildly 
Roaring restfully 

Tousling hair 
Caressing skin 

Tinkling chimes 
Rattling panes 

Killing candlelight 
Birthing flames 

Bringing a storm 
Leaving a rainbow 

Ripping out roots 
Pollinating fields 

Just ride the wind ...
Wherever she blows 

Drifting leaves 
Tossing over iron

Scattering debris 
Clearing garbage 

Tumbling bricks 
Sculpting canyons 

Carrying falcons 
Ruffling feathers

Pushing the sails 

Building the dunes 
Toppling mountains

Feeeel Bliss Appeal

being as we are
in thought rested silence
with mind body we cease to spar
celebrating aliveness of our innocence 

there being no seeking or anticipation 
as we restfully nestle in the void
vibrant in flow of cessation
content and overjoyed 

thoughts that arise
viewed with nonchalance 
lotus of heart opens to surprise 
radiating bliss electricity in continuance 

essence of presence melds in this bliss
being to become one with the elixir
rapturous in this intimate caress
each pore of our form brighter

feel it oh hermit deep within
melody divine soothing
benign bliss ignition
soul uplifting

Twilight Tango

As I stand here before you gazing into your eyes, may I take thine hand in mine?
To behold your poise and charm, and enwrap me into your arms to entrust my need unto thee entwined?
Come away _ come away far beyond cometh thee, _ Let me taste thee on my lips.
As we dance the loving tango _ rhythmic thighs between my hips.
If I yield myself unto thee _ will you want of me upon bend-of-knee as was originally designed?

Doth not you feel the heat within the depths of my emotions', at its’ hidden base?
For words cannot escape me _ pray thee perceive them athwart my face.
Passions rise beyond the morning _ before cometh nigh an ending of my yearning _ and the music to wain and dance away.
With a sigh of great relief flows the river of my nature; now be my anguish restfully at bay.
In the moments of twilight fading, reigns the peace of my new solace, tranquility, and grace.

No, More Opinions

If I rant about race
I’m racist.
If I speak on sex
I’m sexist.

I convey a hearty compliment
I’m sexually harassing.
I speak of stature
I’m body shaming.

I pronounce on politics
I’m partisan.
I fight for liberty 
I’m a terrorist.

The line these days to tread so fine.
All my intentions positive
Now misconstrued negative.

Hence now I promise pledge
Not to err by airing my views
But all in my mind to restfully reside.

But when my mouth does breaks its seal
And an opinion does decide to depart
And often it will intentionally do, I PRAY.

I’m sure a suit I will land
With damages to pay
Only if imprisonment slips away.

This, I don’t mind anyway.
By then the truths’ travelled realms,
Seen ears and felt eyes,
Heard brains and pondered hearts. 
My soul’s aim achieved.

August Sun

it was late august afternoon
gleefully the sun glistened
the birds performing all in tune
i stopped and restfully listened
cast my troubles far behind
vacating turmoil brood internal
it was my current state of mind
believing youth to be eternal

I wonder will they let me in? 
Will they furnish me with life support?
I want to be my Grandpa's friend,
his pride, his joy, and his hero in sports.

Really, it’s not his decision
for these nine months to go on through.
Mom and Dad, it’s up to your religion
to see that I’m worthwhile and needed, too.


Oh God, I’ll make them love me, 
please, God, tell them both to go on.
I won't act hardheaded, nor wicked nor will I be ,
apathetic and sad, nor gripe and moan.

I’ll lie restfully in my Mother's arms.
Please, God, tell them both to let me be 
BORN.

A Girl In Summertime

I met a girl in summertime,
She had summer colored skin.
It was on that fateful night,
That my life finally could begin.

Her eyes sparkled like precious gems
They glowed deep and bright,
She illuminated the heavens,
Even on the darkest night.

When this angel came into my life,
I was finally able to restfully sleep.
She was the yin to my yang,
That made my life complete.
