I have this small birdbath
in my backyard
apparently the talk of the
whole Bird-town -- not much
larger than a good-size hubcap,
one would think it was Lake Erie
size takes on different perspective
in the desert; like a prairie dog
is fat pheasant to a snake -- a jackrabbit
seldom fast enough for a hungered, blood-thirsty
coyote once targeted -- even a cartoon Willy would
shed his cartoon ink, in the real desert~ life here, first
is all about drink.

a rattler flicking its
split tongue...gathering
chemical messengers~ Prairie Dog
without a prayer
vulture, periscope downward
navigates a granulate sea,
follows the wavering flow of tracks~
just over a grilling crest his meal
falls, pauses and pauses and pauses
he waits a bit longer on the sun, dinner
sun-baked and organic

The way we will travel will
Determine how we approach
Doing what humans do.
The Prairie Dog Connecter
Is an idea to bring the future
To travel and creating
Environmental solutions to
Futuristic travel.
A underground tunnel with
Service roads and stores and
Lodging to ensure the safety
Of traveling in our bearing
Future. Underground boring
To create safer traveling
In our new world.
Putting people were they are
Needed. Providing communication
Medicaid, supplies, repair services
And commercial and lodging so
All people are safe and the risk
Or exploitation is reduced.
Wisdom can outline the proposal
To illustrated both our objectives
and goals. Water collection and
Waste recycling stations monitored
By people who know what they are
doing. The stakes are high, but we
Can meet the challenge to
Succeed to create traveling systems
That are envied and are illustrated
Models for the rest of the world!

Just cause,
Just because it only seems that way
Doesn’t make it so?
It only seems yet that way it seems;
That a firefly is not a fly-it’s a beetle;
As it seems similar looks
A prairie dog is not a dog, but a rodent;
It only just seems that way;
India ink is not from India;
It’s made in Egypt and China;
It only seems yet that way it seems;
Similar?
It only seems that way lead pencil doesn’t contain any lead;
You consumers were lead to believe this,
Pencil are made of wood and graphite;
Just cause,
Just because it only seems that way
Doesn’t make it so?
O’ and a peanut is not a nut, it’s a legume
Seems we been fooled all along;
And a Mexican jumping bean is not a bean, also-
It’s a seed with a Larva inside (just a worm hiding)
It only seems that way
Just cause,
Just because it only seems that way
Doesn’t make it so?
All above so familiar,
Similar?
It only seems that way

There was no activity at all in the prairie on this marvelous day.
Peaburger was happy to be off on his journey, on his sweet way.
Had a knapsack on his back, and warm ideas in his adventurous heart.
He could hardly wait to get away from his ex-wife and make a new start.
Ex-wife had moved back in with her new husband and their kids five.
He did not care if he ever again saw any of these prairie dogs alive.
His ex-wife came to the mouth of the hole and yelled “happy be!”
He rolled his eyes, not caring about her, or her new husband Gree.
I am just too generous, too giving, the always-will-finish-last kind of guy,
He lamented as he walked, talking himself into being meaner with try.
Around noon he got out a peanut, and started to eat with his crackers.
He was promptly surrounded by five hungry spotted nutcrackers.
He rolled his eyes to the sky and asked “Why God? Why me?”
He had given those nutcrackers all his food by a quarter until three.
I'm doomed to always be that kind of guy he lamented to angels above.
Young frisky prairie dog who had been watching promptly fell in love.

Azure huddle
within prairie dog sight
betwixt and between hunts
delicate smells
summer gentles
taste of daylight
fur and finery
preening for mate
his interest piqued
every movement purposed
pirouettes his love song
green meadow smiles
chatter, twirl
a romance in the making

Let it go
And burrow little one
Make your home at the base of the willow...
If you've ever watched that anchor on TV
You should know about the abuses they face
Such a downtrodden yet friendly race
I feel a hunger, its a hunger
To see them finally rise
And look up the bright blue skies
Crying on the corner
I know there is nothing I can do
Back to their holes they must run into
My soul proclaims the recession
The prairie dogs shall be victorious
And holding their small hands we shall walk glorious

Soccer ball made from granola, dried grapes
Honey, brown sugar, oats, sunflower seeds
Almonds and chocolate chips form the ball that is fun to
Play the soccer game where everyone wins and the goalie eats the ball.
Eleven comedic players on each team want that
Soccer ball running after the tasty round thing, number 19 gets a Red card
Before the lemming, marmot, and prairie dog run
Biting a tasty crunch out of that flavorful round sphere.
Chocolatier is in competition for profit and prize with
Granolatier who in rivalry selling those two color round
Yummy soccer balls hoping the malamute doggie and
Spiky Yorkshire terrier stay off the game field and don’t eat the ball.
Soccer mom enjoys getting lots of granola soccer balls at the
Local grocery store every Saturday keeping one for herself,
One fun granola soccer ball lasts a week for driving and munching,
Accordion playing cheering moods for all biting that new soccer ball.

A golden eagle soars above the craggy mountain range; his shadow looms darkly.
Unsuspecting prairie dog, walks alone…
Oops! No more; eagle takes home his supper.

The View
You can see the prairie
from the empty square
that once was a window
Its beauty is a painting
done in a master-artist's hand
Waves of grass twist round
each other when the wind
is too restless to pick a direction
From the rotted timber
that once was a front porch
you can hear the eerie call
of vast emptiness
The silo, folded in upon itself
in an April tornado
Most of the walls pepper
the land that once was
someone's vivid dream
Wind plays its piccolo
up and down the random
prairie dog holes
The house sways in tune

Mother nature’s gentle way of breathing her loving essence into the landscape is a sweet surprise.
Periwinkle slivers across a smoky lavender sky with occasional orange exudes joy of a day well-lived.
A glimpse of heaven, this Arizona desert, as the night slowly reposes into a new twilight magic.
A prairie dog, sensing a cool night adventure, digs her way out of her day place, inching forward.
Yipping coyotes apparently discovered something fun and wonderful, they give chase in the distance.
Their yipping makes the cactus flowers smile, as they open to honor the beauty of the glorious horizon.
All ethereal and quiet again, sky darkening so subtly, the horny toads barely notice as they scurry
confidently through the warm sand, fully coming into their best selves, one with the gentle night.
Awesome silence, a fitting accessory to the blooms of the saquaros which peek out shyly, in small doses.
Even the rattlesnake feels the urge to embrace and honor the angelic silence, moving in a whispery way.

A STAR BURST through the night, sparking toward a new GALAXY, landing in a Lapland country.
SWEDISH FISH picked up their speed, feeling something was not quite right, swimming prettily away.
Wolves began to howl, sensing a ROCKY ROAD ahead, wondering if they would feed their young tonight.
The stillness of the night dropped to LEVEL ZERO. In a hundred years, this country had not experienced this level of quiet BAR NONE. SNOW CAPS sat in wait, listening, without breathing. This MILKY WAY
STARBURST had indeed claimed the night. Rats halted in the middle of their scurries and SKITTLES,
A prairie dog dared to SNICKER, breaking the silence, but only once, and it was a short-lived SNICKER.
You would have guessed it might have broken the tension, but it did not. A full moon, mountains, and
A lake full of fish, held hostage by a STAR BURST from another GALAXY. Who would have guessed?

As the pastel moon rises across the midnight blue
a lone wolf’s dark silhouette appears into view
his boast is known from Cowboy to prairie dog
fore this is the night chill that turns to morning fog
the early dawn is thawed by a piping hot cup o’ Joe
No time to waste, just a few days brings first snow
Such is the Cowboy’s life on the cattle drive

Their long arm of his law standing about peering at her child
Destitutes public pretender having fully cooperated with the states
Aspiring district attorney this peoples hopeful in future high court justice ?
Divulging as much exculpatory evidence for their mark as they held over cocktails
Choking while accepting the fact that there was no way out of premeditation's maze judicial's
Billionaire boys clubs prehensible prairie dog gauntlets; ecocide's, florist in flotsams barbaric bonds....
Wall street sky rocket puppets; as his judge slams love's gavel down foaming at their mouths another, life.

When night came, the cattle bedded down
And the night riders making their rounds
Samuel would take a strole to the chuck wagon
And Cookie would hand him his cup of coffee
As he savored it's taste
He'd check with Cookie to see
If his supplies were holding out
Then find ol' Jack crawl aboard and make another round
The nights of stary bliss
Or winds a blowin strong
The drovers were right there
To keep things from going wrong
The rivers they did cross,
Sometimes took their tole
Little Zeke was lucky to be on hand
He threw Luke a lasso and drug him to dry land
Some cattle were lost
Due to the heat
Some they had to nurse maid
If they got snake bit
The prairie dog towns were dangerous grounds
For horses, cattle or cowboys
Their holes were the cause of many a fall
With broken legs you can't ride a saddle
Nights in the bedroll
Days in the saddle
Day after day
They trailed the cattle
