Spiritual possession

Through an opal window I saw a cloud,
changing colors from blue to orange to red,
like a burning fire.
I was swept off my feet,
floating on a bridge between this world and the next.

My body no longer in my possession,
I hear voices beyond my choices,
juggled on a hawser like a puppet on strings ~
my entire being a

Keeping up with the Joneses, who are weird

Because I'd been good for a very long while,
my parents decided to buy me a crocodile.
Then all the kids on the block
thought I really did rock.
Till two weeks later,
another kid’s parents decided to buy him an alligator!
Shoot! And now some kid’s braggin’
his parents are gonna buy him a Komodo dragon.

Rescued and incurious as I dreamt to be
In forever August where I’m still a child
Wasn’t meant to be important, by a large degree
But it did, and I am baffled why this changed my sight
What I deemed as counted, weighted, and well measured 
Failed completely now, and all what is left
Is that crooked smile over things

Possessions

What we possess is not our own,
Everything we have is on loan,
From when we are born
Until we depart
Our possessions will go
But some will keep their hearts.
The wicked and power-hungry kind
Will have to leave their hearts behind
Black hearts are unacceptable in heaven above
Because black hearts are devoid of love
Heartless people feel a need
For wealth, power, self-love

On Losing Everything

Losing everything I have is repugnant to me,
I’m thinking of a natural disaster, flood, or fire
How traumatic losing everything would be,
I can think of nothing so debilitating or dire.

I empathize with those who lose their home,
Especially quickly by a flash flood or a tornado,
It would surely leave one with a PTSD syndrome
Where everything dear is

My Most Treasured Possessions

My most treasured possession is my imagination
Or my eyesight or my fingers that type and paint.
My most treasured possession is my ability to listen.
My most treasured possession is not stationery.
Some minutes it is one thing, then another.

My most treasured possession is my flexibility.
Or my empathy or my writing talent.
My most treasured possession is within me.
Something

Inner Satisfaction

The finer things in life are not material
Cannot be measured by silver and gold,
But have an intrinsic, everlasting value
Like contentment and happiness, I'm told.
One cannot buy with money these things
While possessions can be comforting,
Like fine cars, elaborate furs, and rings
Only love and joy inner satisfaction brings.

The Jigsaw Puzzle

To us 
Complete sharing is difficult sometimes
Every man takes into his possessions
A little piece of the land
A little piece of the sky maybe temporary
And some even a little piece of the sea
To join the jigsaw puzzle pieces
To produce a picture of his own dream

Considering Your Stuff

How many square feet are required
To hold all of your stuff?
Will five thousand, six hundred do it?
Or will two hundred be plenty enough?
I thought about this the other day
When I was surveying my various collections,
And wondering what becomes of a rich man’s stuff
When they wind up in a house of corrections!

Material Possessions Are Owned Only By Selfish Hearts

Don't be fooled by material possessions
that are owned only by selfish hearts
and the more they hold onto them tightly,
the quicker they'll disappear;
surely, they can make life much easier,
but not a peaceful one full of serenity.

Is it everybody's dream to own everything enough
to fulfill their materialistic needs through times of uncertainty...
if inside there's an emptiness deeper

Chapter of Challenge

Fifty five year old me will be a gypsy. Solar powered bike/ car hybrid towing a tent will be my mode of transport. Unfolding continent selects destinations. Isolated majesty I will claim enrichment from.
