China’s Parade of Victory

Truth is a dagger—painful,
yet healing when it cuts deep.
History does not lie:
the Imperial Japanese Army,
once a beast of discipline and fire,
marched on arrogance,
believing steel could bend the world.

But time betrayed them.
China, unarmed, hungry,
with no advanced weapons,
stood in defiance,
its discipline sharper than any blade.
And when the dust settled,
it was China, scarred yet unbroken,
who rose from the

I pump my arms, my legs
through chlorinated fluidity,

One Man Parade

He said a solemn goodbye to his purple steed, 
a trike, now, the only conveyance he'd need,
and there would only be just one other small thing,
a little Red Ryder pulled by a string -

Birthday Parade

We know the dates of birthdays
Of some presidents, once dead,
Yet this time a parade will tout
A living one, instead.

During the great hunger many were forced to roam

Snot nosed, barefoot
Chanting, walk the streets
