Neglected Ties

You shirk the weight of parenthood's call,
leaving your children to wither, unfed.
Are you a father, or mere specter of one?
A mother, or just a shadow that's gone?

While others nurture, educate, and guide,
you abandon your own to fate's tide.
Your concern lies with outsiders, it seems,
while your kin suffer, and your legacy beams.

Lights off,
Door closed,
She leaves again.
I see the men she goes off with every night-
Never the same, never familiar.
And I'm left here,
Alone.
Always alone.

The silence.
That heavy, 
dreaded
silence
Descends when she leaves, 
The click of the lock, 
The turn of the key, 
Pushes her further away.

I want to scream for her,
Into the dark, unforgiving street,
But she won't come back.
Not

America's Neglected Needs

In cities gleaming, where dies are cast,
Where wealth and want meet hand in hand,
Forgotten dreams and futures past,
In this, our proud and troubled land.

Hungry hearts and empty streets,
Echo voices long unheard,
Promises broken, incomplete,
Justice whispers, seldom stirred.

Oh, land of hope, can you not see?
Your strength lies in our unity.

Window to the Soul

Window to the Soul
The eyes of lovers are open doors, unlocked by true love and intimacy.
 Each of us holds ourselves captive in that inner panic room, that shelter we begin building upon our first disappointment and heartbreak. 
 Every hurt and betrayal adds a brick or stone…a log or nail to that tranquil room

A Most Neglected Limb

A most neglected of limbs is the wrist 
  Next to a place where ladies still get kissed
    Smack dab on dainty hand
    Is where smooches do land                    

It's Too Late

When we were with each other,			
Her fond looks I disregarded;
Her true feelings I neglected.
What a stupid I was then!

A Neglected Youngster

This one
  for
    a 
      girl
         abandoned
              circumscribe
         contemptuous
        

Neglected

to press on strings, these digits, sore
thru pain, let chord and cadence pour
oh how could I so long ignore
that sound that stirred my spirit
and what had helped me hear it?

thru all those years of muse mistrust
and jousting gists that seemed unjust
you sat unvoiced, and gathered dust
yet, now, your tongue is finding
such beauty midst your binding

A Pal Full of Validation

A peacock to some, 
but to others a confident and close friend.
Confidence, humorous, 
displays feathers, 
selects the perfect mate.

Unbeknownst is he of the 
defects 
within his selection, too much time
lusting the outside, 
never fully knowing the inside.

Secure in his vibrant colors, 
overconfident that his mate would never stray.
Too concerned with the outward appearance 
of those

Neglected

I’m sporting this new lipstick
it won’t fade, smudge or smear
I’ll be lucky if it wears off this year.

I’ve got this new eyeliner that’s like
a luxurious, glittering, penciled tattoo

I unpacked these chemical wonders
to see if they’ve lost their luster
by being neglected since last summer.

When you study too much,

Reap What Is Neglected To Sow

When all has fallen,
when hell is outside your door,
the whispers of monsters become wallowing screams-
and tar flows through your veins. 
Water the dandelions growing between concrete tiles.
Even when you are too far gone, use your dying breath to help. 
Rub the back of a child who fell from their bike,
Say thank you regardless of who

The Old Man and the Baby

Finally one day the old man
Will behave like a baby
Will cry like a baby
Will stumble like a baby
Will become sick like a baby
Will become weak like a baby
Will become helpless like a baby
But unlike a baby
He's going to retire from the society
Finally of no value to the society

Daddy Neglected Me and Went To a Place I Knoweth Not

Desolate moments,full of dark days.
Those moments,  I can't face.
I cry with haste.

O Daddy, why have you forsaken thee?

Why have you thrown my sweet moments far away from me?

My footsteps on the long narrow 
streets,
are shout outs of my boundless
cringing griefs.

I cry hard looking up to the 
sunshine,
asking its radiant rays to help 
me find
an abode builds by love
not huge hate,
'cos I want to stop this unfair
