Nature in a Mischievous Mood

Early Sunday morning; 
nature rattling at the front door!
I accept its clamorous invitation 
stepping out with nothing more
in tow than an upturned collar..
and a theatrical imagination.

The morning ground is well-baked pastry,
all crusted with a shiver of winter;
sunlight whispering across the ground 
all sharp colour and playfulness.
So I step out, church bells

My Cat Named Mischievous

My cat is aptly named Mischievous 
A little ball of fur 
She doesn't weigh much 
But how dearly I love her 

She always spills her milk 
Then licks her whiskers clean 
She doesn't do it on purpose 
She doesn't seem to be mean 

She lays on the carpet 
Rolled up into a ball

Spring, the mischievous libertine

Spring, the mischievous libertine,
Has twitched from the chrysalis of dull realities,
Sneaking, slyly, among norms and tasteless thoughts,
A live torch in the old auditoriums where science quivers with emotion.
With the gesture of a diva, she shatters windows of routine,
Performing a flamboyant escape from the "Notre-Dame de Sion" stronghold,
Letting her laughter fill the voids, in a gala

Mischievous Elf

he has the look of a mischievous elf
I am terrified of it, for I recognize it as myself
what if he is a better jokester than me?
will he become king of this maple tree?

the elf gives me a nod, and a wink of his eye
I am afraid he is winning as he passes me by

Jungle Adventure

My lifetime dream is about to take place
A trip so spectacular it creates a smile lighting up my whole face 
Camera in hand I board the tour bus
The roar of the mighty lions a greeting surely directed at us
Mischievous monkeys scatter from high atop trees in a quick flash 
Rays of the sun reflect on

My Mischievous Brother

In a world so wide, my brother, so great,
With mischief in his eyes, oh, what a trait!
His laughter rings out, like a joyful chime,
My mischievous brother, oh, how sublime!

With a twinkle in his eye and a grin so wide,
He leads me on adventures, nowhere to hide.
Through fields we frolic, in the sun's warm embrace,

Melancholy winds 
Adding froth to frigid rain 
Robins splay their wings 
Caterers scramble inside

Mischievous Moon

The moon was in a mischievous mood
This morning before the twilight
Peeking through clouds it had tried to elude
In order to flaunt its golden light.

Full and round it followed me
Up and down the valley hills
Emerging from shadows tauntingly
Knowing how its beauty thrills.

Nestling in a poinciana tree
It appeared to do a dance
Among twisted limbs that seemed

There are these pictures in my mind
Of when you were a little kid
Elation and giggles and joy
In your eyes and your smile so big

Mischievous and carefree
Exploring the world at large
You were fearless and creative
And always wanted to be in charge

From the beach to the mountains

From Impervious To Nervous

Then, he’d looked quite impervious, 
Now, you can see: damned nervous
The present soon the previous,
Past triumph no more envious,
His change: shamefully obvious…

From ‘impervious’ to ‘nervous’
Journeys end in the grievous;
Like voyages perilous:
Satanic and mischievous.

We'd keep meeting wickedness
In all it's vile nakedness:
All the time, some wanton beast
Of dreamt - up foes makes a feast...

By one you'd thought a brother;
Among men a masquerade
For a promised motorcade.

kiss of light, embracing, promising quiet
breathless joy, comforting with kind, gentle sighs
whispering leaves, softly waltzing, can’t deny it
wonders, inspired, brilliant desires who chastise
forests bring whimsical wonders to riot
playing gaily, summer’s goodbye to revise
history reminds the heart who laughs shyly
autumn trembles its teasing flourish, slyly

If you remember correctly, one night, I came upon Steve.
‘Twas a normal day that led to such a befuddling eve.
For, Steve is a skunk who decided to bunk and not leave.
I’ve learned just how quickly this sly little guy can deceive.
