What The Hell Are You Doing Here?

He looked at me, eyes dull and cold,
“What the hell are you doing here?”
And just like that-my heart caved in,
Shattered by the words I feared.

I had come with love in trembling hands,
A daughter needing something small-
Just a soft goodbye, a crack of light,
But he built another wall.

I stood there stunned, not sure to speak,
Not sure if he even saw
The child behind my grown-up face
Still reaching through the flaw.

I wanted to scream, I’m your daughter,
I’m here because I care,
But his voice was sharp, and full of fire,
And none of that was there.

I tried to make sense of his anger,
Was it pain that made him blind?
Was it cancer eating through his words,
Or the damage in his mind?

Cirrhosis, Hep C, too many wounds-
They stole the man I knew.
And maybe somewhere deep inside,
He missed me coming through.

But all I have are those last words,
They echo in my chest-
Not “I love you,” not “thank you,”
Not even “I wish you the best.”

And still I wonder, every night-
If he’d been without his disease-
Would he have instead changed
His final words to me?

Premium MemberTuesdays' nights

was the whiskey and the jazz playing
On too many black nights with too
Many lonely women and not a poem
Between them

How many times can you run
From the shadow of the voices that
Surround you

Beating like drums in the darkness
Tasting more of your flesh each time
Not leaving enough for a man to breathe
No way for a man to live

How could the hep-cat jive survive
When my voice can only spit silence
Wasn't a dream left to filter thru
The night worn inside and out and

Bled dry a bottle singing the page blank and life in the hands of
the haves laughing at the broken shadows of the have-nots

There was a club on 34th and Second Ave where the jazzman
swung
All night long beat poets recited Tuesdays' nights and Jack was
always drunk in the third booth

Scrawling poems on paper bags and notebooks

Taking life hard on the chin and after a while not fighting back
anymore

Ain't the road thzt donev Jack in

Premium MemberThe Haunted House

There once was a house down the lane
With tattered shutters and broken window panes
They said it was haunted
But I was undaunted
I went in normal and came out insane

And old man came to answer the door
He said, "If you want to come in, are you sure?"
The man was a ghost
He said, "I'm your host"
"Welcome my friend to House Nevermore"

The house was old and a bit ruff
And I thought that I'd had enough
But the dead were doing a dance
And I thought that perchance
I'd get out there and show them my stuff

I started off dancing a two step
And wound up dancing with the mummy Amenhotep
He went on with a cough
And his arms and legs kept falling off
So I danced a dance that was more hep

I saw a beautiful woman across the floor
And I wanted to get to know her more
We danced all the night
It was love at first bite
We drank blood and danced till half past four

She said she had to have a lye in
And went downstairs to sleep in her coffin
The guests started to shout
As I made my way out
I came back for Vampira and often

Nineteen Sixty

I shall never see the world as it used to be
In my dream it was 1960 I could fondly see
I could see mom blowing smoke at our faces
Dad spouting bad remarks about certain races
I was there at the table waiting for the bomb
As remembered just an unfulfilled alarm
It was summer when the fun never ends
I was having fun with hula hooping friends
Listening to Chubby and acting double bubbly
My sister and friend were getting kind of cuddly
Young for New York, where the people are so gay
I was dancing in my room, twisting the night away
I saw women in town as dolled up as they could get
And my mom going hep to hip with never a sweat
I saw a married man who I knew would often stray
I heard he tortured his wife when it was other way
I saw proud women, housewives doing their job
Men I remember getting killed belonged to the mob
I could see it was a year, long gone, when men ruled
If you don’t think they still do, you have been fooled

U May Not Say : Hip Hip Hooray Again

The origin of "Hip, Hip Hooray may shock you, and U may not wish anyone that with a clear conscience. If U have Jewish friends, ask them if they have any objections ... but our culture is so replete with anti-semitisms, not everyone knows what they ought to know. Here are the facts as I found out:

“Hierosolyma Est Perdita”
"The call was recorded in England in the beginning of the 19th century in connection with making a toast. It has been suggested that the word “hip” stems from a medieval Latin acronym, “Hierosolyma Est Perdita”, meaning “Jerusalem is lost”, a term that gained notoriety in the German Hep hep riots." The predictions of the fall of Jerusalem came from Israel's prophets like Ezekiel, and later in about the year 30 by Jesus Himself. The latter was the fall of Jerusalem by the Imperial Roman hand.

Annem

Suyun akisi gibi geldide geçti iste
Ince bir tüy gibi sallanirken annem
Içime düsen kor gibi atesti bende
Nasil bir hicran yarasiydi annem.

Aciyi emanet birakip gittigin zaman
Yüzün eksilmisti bütün aynalardan
Nefret duyarim artik tüm ayriliklardan
Atlikarincadan düstügüm gündü annem.

Gökten yildiz düserdi ogul dedikçe
Müzmin agri gibi saplandin içime
Yarim kalan o bahtiyar günlerimize
Sevgiden yoksun yasiyorum annem.

Hep eksik birseyler var yoklugunda
Kaygilarla dolu yüregini andigimda
Dilimin dönmedigi kubbenin altinda
Gözümde tüter yattigin toprak annem.

Muhal sözlerim,ki lal olur kalbrinde
Solan açmazki giden gelmez haliyle
Say,ki yoklugunun ahi deger kalbime
Sanki tecelli ediyor gül yüzün annem...

Please Unfriend Me

Please Unfriend Me

No slow paced emotions
In this hi-tech, jet age
Why wait to know the other
Over time
No use looking for secure and long lasting friendship
When the same is available
On the go
The face looks likeable
Just a click
But do follow the norm- be polite
Request him/her for friendship
I would love to see you
Doing the same face to face
Anyhow, don’t worry about gender and age
These things do not matter
Start a chat and then chatter
Friendship for sure has gone hep
Just a little tap
And voila
Both of you
Completely unknown
Never met in life persons
Are friends
And what is best
This friendship
Gets celebrated all over the world
By similar, like-minded people
Don’t worry if you’ve had your fill
Want to end the friendship
All you have to do is simply
Unfriend him
And that person
Is out of your life as if
He never existed on this planet in the first place
So you see
It’s all so simple
Man and emotions were making the
Darn thing complex
Now for those who are dumb
Can’t take sarcasm
Mate
Don’t hesitate
Feel free
Please unfriend me.

Deadly Sins

Shattered, busted
Broken pieces
Sinner, lusted
Crisco creases

White noise
High pitched screams
Girly boys
Wet dreams

Blood red stains
Off white gown
Pistol rings
Chalk on ground

Lethal needles
Veins blown
Better feels
Than being stoned

Strip club love
STDs
Ketamine rub
Nose bleeds

Masked face
Girl at gunpoint
Steps retraced
Blow this joint

Hep C
Painted skin
Deadly
Seven sins

Existence of Life

Tis' Life is the aspect of existence revel
That processes, acts, reacts, evaluates
Tis' Life exists at a many level
And changes through as growth nar·rates

The see thru' tween' life n' non-living things
Is? Life spew energy for lusty n' wit·ting flowering woo
Life grows n' ev'tually death sings
Ceases to beget n' be hep to

It is rather perseverance n' maturity
Head toward the light
Towards a state of death surety
Death occurs only to living life

Yet life is only a story tale
Beginning, Middle, and End
Each of the three parts detail
That life fulfills a why for calculating transcend

Once 'winter of life' know
How wheel of life works out
Sum up, you grow n' then you go below
There is not much to hold its interest about

Appear To Be Hep

Appear to be Hep

I suppose it wasn't written in prose
When it never, ever smoothly flows
Or in poetry which was rhyming,
And none were thrilled with its timing.

On people, I seem to be chiming in;
Think about where poem should begin
Maybe come up with an added feature
But I never was an English teacher.

What you have seen surely will get
Get ready, go and in between is set
Will all of my poems appear to be hep?
If I were the one who skipped a step.

Can anyone tell me how to remove a poem
that I have accidentally listed twice or three
times by mistake? My total list of poems just
went past 800 but some are duplicates.
Thanks. Jim Horn
