this time of the year

This time of the year again

She has gone shopping for gifts to give the young
she would not take me along, knows I would be grumpy
and sarcastic and impatient.
I sat on the plaza with a glass of Chianti, not because I like this wine but because it is the only Italian name I could think of,
A mist of people around me, a crescendo of voices
talking about about a topic they agreed upon, Noel
I unfold the paper “Stalemate in Gaza.”
It does not ring a bell for the consumers, in the thrall of the glittering street decoration, fake snow, and humbug
We have been invited to a restaurant so grand waiters
dress like diplomats, call out your name when entering
Our esteemed Senor Hansen from Sweden at table number 12. What! I am not Swedish but never mind
I will get revenge when asking for Alentejo Red Wine
When we come back to the Algarve, it can be cold
in January, a man will come from the upland with a truck
of firewood, ready cut and dry.
The only sound we will hear during the festivities are
are the bleating of the lamb

Bank Day Rassling Saturday Nite

Everybody wants to be champion
Everybody got a plan
Everything's signifacent
Peoplez, my people!
Take your assignment
and task!
Get in line and do what's
asked of you.
Sh$t I have been doing that
This way since they let me
In here.
Hungry people, needs to eat!
And prices only fluctuate upwards.
Looked at Bizzy
He ain't got time for me.
Looked at dizzy, but he's under ah
Spell!
What ya'll talking bout?
Why me?
Papers and Promises!
Cheap talk, switch your
Candyass up outta here!
Get the prestige like
Ole Lou,
The belt like Brett.
Defend like Hogan.
The women like Flair!
When Sammartino
And Hansen
Gets me
Nick, your Bockwinkels due
Simmons and Bradshaw
Stonecold now what new.
I remember Dusty
The long blood we share
Bobo didn't take the strap
Ya'll act like we weren't
There.
Fluctuations, neocations
Man just get it done.
Work ain't hard
If you know what you're doing
Contract please!
Let's get it on !

Armed and Clumsy

Armed and Clumsy

 New York City

Ralik Hansen had pulled off a heist
Jewelry that was high priced
He was all alone
Hiding out in his home
When he himself was then iced

It wasn’t a rival or cop
That followed him home from the shop
A delivery man
With a package in hand
And it happened to be his last stop

When he heard a knock on the door
He crawled under the couch on the floor
Thinking it was the law
His gun he did draw
It went off and now he is no more

Pinellas Park, Fla

Dennis Emery, according to friends
Brandished a gun now and then
A domestic dispute
Thinking he would be cute
His brandishing came to an end

The cops said that this was the case
He twirled the gun with some pace
The trigger he found
As he twirled it around
And he shot himself then in the face

A couple of true stories from your Uncle Mike

The Blue Plant

The Blue Plant
In a clearing in the woods there is a blue plant
that is illuminated from the inside and shines
long after dark, but if you stop and stare its
four petals curl, that light is switched off and
it looks another way; this because it lives in
fear of being recognized by a passing botanist
and classified as a minor little weed not worth
bothering about.

As I'm only a sailor who lost his sextant and
ended up in a wrong vale and not Singapore
which was my intention, I have its confidence
So I asked: "what if the botanist finds you
the most beautiful flower he has ever seen,
then you will be famous, poets will go all
tearful and lyrical about you and you'll appear
in illustrated books."

The blue flower's light flickered on and off it
was clearly in distress petals in a flutter and
shakily it said: "I fear fame it's an awesome
responsibility I have to shine and shine always
look my best and there is no turning away when
things get tough and they will ask me about
stuff I know nothing about and critics will ask
"is blue the only colour you have got"

Withinthe Circle

Within the Circle
Around the burned down stable, near
the oak that was struck by lightning,
there is a silence within the stillness.
I can hear screams of stabled mules
running in circles trampling each other
into a bloody mass and falling beams.
Within the circle sheltered by whispering
leaves I can hear rattling of chains and
the forest afar sings of endless sorrow.

Monday Morning

Monday Morning
When I opened the kitchen door the fridge
had an attack of the shakes then feel into
dejected stillness which bayed in my ears.
To break this force of nothingness I spoke
and sounded like a wounded duck and
the beer bottle held in a clammy hand fell
with a foamy splash on the floor; wordless
fear. Why me?
The fridge rattled again but there was
nothing of worth on its shelves other than
bacon, eggs, cheese. Stop, I feel sick.
Turned on the tap and fat maggots dripped
into my glass, that too ended on the floor;
fled, outside people starred at me because
I was dressed in a red bathrobe with Hotel
Astor stamped on the back.

My Dear Mr. Hansen

"Jacoby & Meyers" - gave me a pale
Round bellied attorney with pony tail
"Cash Only !" asking so far
After four weeks - got disbarred
Oranges fly between bars in Palmdale...

Jill In Jeans

I noticed just the other day
when I turned my blue jeans inside out,
a curious little grin in my
penny pocket.
Just a happenstance left
on the whim of a Friday morning
on the 5th.

Left for such a time as today
when
my inseam is too short,
my soles are too tall,
your voice is still and small
and
my soul is numb, after all.

I fall into your heart on the page
and know
that soon there will be a time ...

love you Hansen.

Finishing the Game

Resting days encircling of friends,
Peace gives a closing protection.
Charity seems to keep no charge of wrong,
Only listening ears that breathe silent in reading
Of heartbeat dance.
Friendship's breath,
Carrying wind to cast all trouble to the endless nowhere.
How do I finish what was started in me?
Inner wall of safekeeping,
Walking the ground secured playmate of poets.
"Tag!!!"
From within,
"You are all it!"
In Poetry Soup-
But,
Is the game really over?
Or just journeying on to love ones,
Outside our globe-sphere world of poetic?

P.S.
Follow up to
"Friends"
And
"Hansen! Yer It!!"

Hansen! Yer It!!

I was tagged by that guy
the crazy culinary king
the one who makes drool
run down my chin ... ; )

So now it’s my turn [oh goodie!]
to pass on the tag
to an unsuspecting soul
and leave him holding the bag.

Now poets can be a silly bunch
not deep nor grave nor brilliant so much.
Give em a game and cut em loose
and you’ll find ‘stupid’ is often our muse.

And ... so ...

Eenie meenie minee doo doo
oh dear my dear could it be yoo hoo?
I tag Hansen, that guy in Brown
he’ll do ya fine, he’s such a clown!

Yer up, Mark!!

Love ya! j

In Perfect C

Beneath the sea
swirls the untouched
     of me
slip sliding
    deeply on silent green winds
skidding on bottom storms
blind
    sweetest bubble notes of Being
rise to burst on the surface
in symphony ~
        the music
                   of
           your
             rainbow
                 colours.

Thank you Mark Hansen for encouraging me to write about my love of the sea to
get me off the bubble ; )

Why?

Why do we not listen?
do we not need to listen?

Why do we ignore?
do we not need to pay attention?

Why do we stray away?
is that what we are suppose to do?

Why do we hate?
are we not suppose to love.

Why are we not reasonable?
  isn't reason understanding.

Why do we not communicate?
are we not suppose to talk?

Why are do we fight?
are we not suppose to embrace.

Why can't we be truly happy?
are we suppose to be sad?

Why can't we live life to the fullest?
   are suppose to live empty?

Why?

Why?

Is there an answer?
