How We Can Learn To Love

When you see others hurting and your heart doesn’t cry,
Look inside and ask yourself the answer to your why?
The path we’re given here on Earth is so we can learn.
To begin the learning process, we must feel concern.

For each to evolve while on this Earth, each must transform.
Right choices made along the way seldom cause

I ask the field

before I pour rain
I ask the field if it thirsts—
sometimes it just smiles,
content in its cloud shadow,
roots drinking from deeper springs.

If I were a poem

If I were a poem
metaphoric words would dance in
synchronicity,
similes would waltz the frown 
from off my face.
If I were a poem
I'd wrap sonnets around you,
Like tourniquet stanzas 
healing chapters in verse.


If I were a poem
cliches would clash with
unwritten rules,
words would not rhyme and dear diary would not exist.
If I were a poem
gone would be the

Being

Being more open to others’ ideas
Being helpful when I encounter the helpless
Being loving when I see those that seem unlovable
Being slow to anger when I feel I’m being attacked
Being understanding when others make mistakes 
Being non-judgmental when people are different from me
Being thankful for all that comes into my life

What Shall We Do

Let each of us, from our heart,
     do what we are led to do.
If the intent is for the good of ourselves,
     others, or all of humanity,
it will be a good thing that each of us will do.

First Class Love

As I awoke, eyes still laden,
dreaming of a pretty maiden.
Laying quietly, still in my bed.
It was real not just in my head.

As the light streaked through the window,
heart beating like a crescendo.
I felt the joy of love at last,
in this love, I’ll willingly bask.

The sharing, caring, and daring.
The glancing and trance like starring.
The thought came

Love

Looking for love may not succeed
Learning to love may help indeed
Letting love flow, may be the seed
Lift another by doing a loving deed
Love others first, take the lead
Lady or gent, please do not plead
Lasting love is drawn to a need

Writing Poetry

Poems may be simple, try writing a rhyme,
add some images to make it sublime.
Simple words may make meaningful phrases,
difficult words can turn into mazes.

You could write a Limerick, just for fun, 
don’t forget a surprise before you’re done.
Write a nice Haiku, a scene of nature,
like flowing mountain streams with water pure.

A Sonnet would be nice

Our Legacy

As obvious as it may seem,
Our higher life we must redeem.
To get full value, its true worth,
It’s not a given at one’s birth.

First acknowledged, then understood,
Overcome ego, become good.
Use your energy to create,
Our deeper thoughts our true estate.

To share the truth that we have gleamed,
Our higher self must be redeemed.
Legacy: our thoughts repeated.

Gifts We're Given By God

We’re given a heart to love with
We’re given a mind to think with
We’re given a Creator to humble us
We’re given experiences for blessings and lessons in life

Filtered Through Consciousness

like steaming water seeps through the openings in the bottom of a colander
the wisdom of ages past is filtered by my conscious mind
leaving all but a few bits and pieces caught in the process
