world cup

Once in four years
 no matter how far
 all the nations gather
 regardless of borders
 inside the stadiums
 painted in different colors
 chants heard from every corner

 football lovers of all kinds
 celebrating history being made
 players from the best teams
 from all across the world
 Forty-eight in number
 playing for the cup
 match after match

 Right on this field
 Dreams will be shattered
 Hardwork will be rewarded
 Talent will be showcased

 Once the whistle blows,
 Fate will be decided
 All will go home
 One will bring it home

 most of all,
this world cup is a farewell
  to all our heroes
who will play well with all their heart

  one last time
giving us memories to last forever
so when the game is over
 no matter who wins
We will all bleed from our eyes
 for all the legends
 we will lose tonight

I learn't my soccer on a neighbouring green
so the 50's attacking is my stylistic scene
Never watch the modern defensive passing back +fro
too negative,..too boring ..& much too slow

Football

Football brings a people together,
A country's people unite,
And yet almost but not quite,
When race is a factor, hatred leads the fight,
A sport that supposedly brings together a nation,
Sure does like a bit of discrimination,
When a Black player scores -
The crowd roars,
When a Black player misses -
The crowd becomes malicious,
Fans become hypocrites,
And when the team needs support, all you hear is crickets,
Just racial remarks,
And racists embark,
To blame,
As an excuse to shame,
To hate -
And humiliate,
Black players who are the only reason their team is so great,

Premium Member Spain wins, Madonna loses

Spain won the world cup yesterday, one to nil - but it was never close. Spain spent 70% of the game in Argentina’s backfield - pressuring.

Spain had nine respectable shots at a goal - scored one with another called back. Argentina had one shot that almost went in. I know losing when I see it - Argentina winning would have been a fluke.

Speaking of losing - Madonna at halftime.
A critic wrote that, "Madonna has come to represent America’s fear of aging."
Yeah, aging has never looked less appealing.
I may take up smoking.

I know, she recently had a single hit #1 on the Billboard charts.
Back when the Beatles were cranking out 24 #ones in a row, you had to sell a million records a week to crack the top ten, and 1.3 to 1.5 million a week to stand a chance at a #1. Today (with streaming) you can get a #1 with a 7th of that number.
I love early Madonna - but I know creepy when I see it.

Who’s older, Madonna or Trump?
Whatever, both are too old for their jobs.

A song for this:

Sportsmanship more

The football world’s fractured with war
Over Video Assistant VAR,
If in sports as in life
Things scarce are sharp as knife,
What use all this ‘against’ or ‘for’?
Tempers do on games soar,
Should they be football lore?
Hail loss-win less, sportsmanship more.

Note: VAR= Video Assistant Referee. The Football World Cup round of 16 between Argentina and Egypt was marred with controversy what with stakes so high causing tempers to rise. This ditty suggests less focus on loss and win and more on sportsmanship.

Premium Member What Football Needs - Bigger Goals!

You know what the Football World Cup really needs?
Goal! Goal! Goal!
with Bigger Goals!

Another yard — another meter—
on either side of the posts.

Bigger goals mean more goals!
More goals mean better football!

Goal! Goal! Goal!

Screamers from thirty metres!
Curlers into the top corner!
Thunderbolts from halfway out.

Goal! Goal! Goal!

That's what fans want to see.
Not defensive fantasy!
Not blockers lined up at the back.
Bring on attacking football!
More goals means fairer results.

Goal! Goal! Goal!

Imagine the score in Heaven?
5–7!
8–6!
10–8!
That's what fans play mega bucks to see.
Last-minute winners!

Goal! Goal! Goal!

More skills!
More thrills
More daring!
More drama!
More football!

Goal! Goal! Goal!

It's so ridiculously easy.
Just widen the goalposts.
when nobody's looking—
out a yard... out a meter... on either side

Go for goal!
Blight the nil-all draw!

Goal! Goal! Goal! Goal! Goal!

Stone to Stadium

A wheelchair boy sits at the football ground,
Watching kids play with grip and hope around.
Someone asked to play, made him a friend for joy,
Realization strikes tears fall, he’s not just a toy.

No one paid heed
Like stone on the road, useless
Dreams win, crowd roars

I dreamt of my gal Maria
and a trip to the pizzeria,
and, so, I called her up,
"Let's eat pizza and watch the World Cup".

The minute we walked through the door,
I could smell what we had in store.
I inhaled deep and slow -
garlic and oregano.

I looked past my beauty's dazzling eyes,
onto a screen of humongous size,
and heard the customers cheer
as I ordered up a beer.

Zero to zero, the clock did tick
when I saw that amazing kick,
just before the whistle blast,
and the game was over at last.

Just after that incredible shot,
my pizza came and it was hot.
I burned my mouth - Maria laughed,
and said, "that was just the first half".

Premium Member The Parade Of Football Soccer World Cup Champions

We all love and applaud the winners
As we feel sorry for the losers
We love women, without them, we're nobody
Women are the fruits and the gems of our society
Whoopee! Congratulations to the USA Women's Soccer Team
For winning their fourth World Cup. This is a dream
For everybody to be champions
This is an outstanding accomplishment
Let's all enjoy this wonderful moment
Hurrah! Yippee! These women are heroes of actions
We are proud of them. They deserve at least equal pay
For equal work. I pray that nothing stands in their way
Thank you for the great soccer/football skills
That you have shown throughout the tournament
In France.Your ladies are lovely, winsome and elegant
You inspire me and give me enough energies and chills
To never give up, to work hard or to strive to succeed
May God grant all good health to survive and to lead!

In the golden haze of the afternoon,
With summer sun and fading light,
We carved our hours in leather gloves,
And chased the sphere in joyous flight.
You tossed the baseball, spiraled deep,
The football arcing through the air,
A sacred bond of sweat and smiles,
When you have time to meet me there.

The years rolled by like rolling tides,
The games grew scarce, the pace grew fast,
But in the quiet after work,
We found a shelter in the past.
With tired hands and easy chairs,
We spoke of seasons, lost and won,
Reliving every shining play,
From when the day was just begun.

Now sitting on the shaded porch,
As shadows stretch across the lawn,
I see the coach, the guiding light,
The hero that I leaned upon.
No matter where the road may lead,
Or how the ticking clock may chime,
My favorite memory of the years,
It is simply you, making time.

What a beautiful morning Makam remix

Hello my love
What a beautiful day
Last night was special
to us, wouldn't you say
What ah beautiful morning

"ooh we auh, ooh we
ooh we auh-auh ooh
Yahtune dootaha, doo we ooh ooh!"

Try my luck
With a kiss
One of those
How about this
Toast and coffee
that's just fine
Get something later
If I have time
What a night
What a beautiful morning

"yahtta doo ooh ah we
auh ooh auh we
yahtta dootah doop;
 ooh doop ooh ooh!"

What's up partner
You doing fine
Don't rush around
take your time
we gotta long way
to go
radios on time for
the show
What ah fabulous night
What ah beautiful morning

Saw the game
After the show
Excuse me Didn't know
You wanted to go
It's on next week
Just let me know
What ah beautiful night
What ah beautiful morning
