I dreamt of my gal Maria
and a trip to the pizzeria,
and, so, I called her up,
"Let's eat pizza and watch the World Cup".

The minute we walked through the door,
I could smell what we had in store.
I inhaled deep and slow -
garlic and oregano.

I looked past my beauty's dazzling eyes,
onto a screen of humongous size,
and heard the customers cheer
as I ordered up a beer.

Zero to zero, the clock did tick
when I saw that amazing kick,
just before the whistle blast,
and the game was over at last.

Just after that incredible shot,
my pizza came and it was hot.
I burned my mouth - Maria laughed,
and said, "that was just the first half".

Premium MemberMother Nature's Football Game

I heard Mother Nature say,
"Let's play football today".
Plants versus animals - the teams were picked.
Would the flora all be licked?
The thunder and lightning of the crowd
cheered them on, sounding loud.
While the fauna moved the ball,
barking out every call,
the flora didn't make a sound...
yet they held their ground.
Unnoticed, there among us,
stood the unseen fungus.

Premium MemberKing Arthur in the Football Age

"King Arthur, get off the couch...
and stand up straight. Don't slouch."
"Who asked you Guinivere -
gimme another beer",
said the legendary grouch.

Celtic fans thought their team was due for a right gubbing
To the Gers' fans the first half was a Celtic drubbing
And the Celtic fans were so close to blubbing
Rohl was close to kingship with the Gers' fans him so dubbing
That second half with O'Neill's adroit subbing
Saw Celtic give the Blues a thorough scrubbing
With cheers unheard from the Green Brigade out happily pubbing
At the final whistle Celts with glee their hands were rubbing
While the home crowd felt like their team clubbing
And angrily their season tickets stubbing.

Premium MemberThe Classic Look of Despondency

On Super Bowl Night, there was no joy in Kansas City. Nearly all Chiefs fans were overwhelmed with despondency. The tight end for the team was Travis Kelce. His face prominently displayed utter melancholy. As the Eagles powered their way and ran up the score, Travis looked like a little boy lost in a department store. His teammates all appeared to be feeling the same way, as the Eagles held up the Lombardi trophy for display. The game played in New Orleans was over and done. Their plane flight home could not have been a cheerful one.

Premium MemberKansas City Defeat

The Chiefs went to New Orleans to do a war dance. However, they got burned by the seat of their pants. It seems Custer at Little Big Horn had a better chance. The team was hoping to win their third Super Bowl in a row. Unfortunately, the fruitless effort was a no-go. Come Monday morning, plenty of Kansas City fans felt pity. What they saw on their screens the night before was not pretty. The game led them to say what we too often hear: "We will get our act together and come back next year".

Premium MemberThe Chiefs Got Smoked

Patrick Mahomes and his boys all choked When they went up against the Eagles, they got smoked. The winning team in the Super Bowl earns a coveted trophy. It's named in honor of the late Vince Lombardi. The Kansas City team was gunning for number three. However, that scenario was just not to be. It was all due to Jalen Hurts and his company. Super Bowl fifty-nine is now a part of history. The Eagles from Philadelphia won the victory.

A phenomenal day not writing poetry..
Watching excellence and physical symmetry!
Creativity in the ads were total artistry…
Halftime show done, with needed decency!

Premium MemberThe Latest UCLA Football Debacle

I looked out and saw rainy weather.
Why not watch boys kick pigskin leather?
What if rain was barley juice, not water -
to the magnavox and my alma mater.
A strange woman says "fix the door".
Where have I heard that voice before?
A green field where blue and gold bodies lay,
the uniforms of UCLA,
like a photo by Mathew Brady -
Do I know that voice? Who is this lady?
And who is responsible for this ruin?
He goes by the name of Joe Bruin.

Awesome to see the 47th President.
And, soon to be, our new, White House Resident!
Being welcomed, warmly at this game,
Number 47…..elected by popular fame.

The USA chose him to run this nation free.
No longer an ugly weaponinzation tree!
War makers who sucked this nation dry.
Better go find another fish to fry.

No wonder Joy Reid shaved her head.
And smarmy,Don Lemon’s career is about dead!
Joe and Mika, please, go cry in your beer.
Endless negativity and lies, ends in our cheers!

Edgar my dear
Why do you have that spear
Is that your plan?
When in a jam?
Scare the bloody Kansas City yellow and red
When they fight the fowl volture appearing dead
Spirit Haunting
Spirit Daunting
Blazing under the Baltimore sun
Until Poe's poetic message is done
No swift moves will be here
Only Chiefs carcasses holding their Daly beer

            Persona Non Grata

   She was persona non grata.
But, very blessed to not know it.
Her loving words, but a naive sonata,
Unaware, she was thought of, as a half wit.

Down God’s sunny lane she looked.
Tears rolled down her summer dress.
But, she realized, just cold-hearted people.
Conceited and mean, cause ugly distress.

God in His heaven, sees what they do~
Let no man or woman, ever downgrade you!

Psalm34:18~ “ The Lord is near to the
     brokenhearted and saves the crushed
     in spirit.”
