Evensong

They say eyes are
a memoir, stories stolen from memory
that may or may not exist—but either way
iris plays storyteller.

At the bottom of my glass,
a pair of ocean eyes dyed brandy
searches—for an identity.

	Nothing
but a blurred face with no features
—perhaps no stories ever lived to be stolen
though the shape of shadowy tears
are oddly clear—they consume the least amount of light
then drool them out, uneven,

like trembling breaths of an old firefly—

Brings my mind to this
long summer, air reeks of damp, molded plums
even in a marble kitchen: always rancid,
though pores exhale wispy musk and oak—
A scent fitting
for a firefly reaching for summer’s tail,
behind it death’s haggard palm.
His voice sibilant, mocking
its effort: as when summer ends
life ends shortly after.

Pupils follow the wavering ghost of firefly—
stars grayish azure, grasping anything gravity can pull
to keep a lone soul companied down the road:
		My friend, come along,
there’s no need to fight tomorrow.

But physics means nothing to the candlelight midair.
Weary as it is—

summer will die chasing summer.

Dance of the Fireflies 15-11-23

Nature's lanterns aglow in the velvet night,
guided by them, muted laughter echoes with delight.
A mirror of geniality in the hand of darkness,
the flickering glow of flying artists.

Children softly exhale around ashen remains,
their bodies in slumber but not so their brains.
Enveloped in the golden aurora of earth-bound constellations,
enchanting dreams begin to flow.

Aureate beings rise from every child,
gathering into one glistening file.
A river of angelic beings,
floodlike and sweeping.

Upon the backs of minute fireflies,
a shimmering bridge built on life
softly breathes and
ascends into the night.

The firefly said to the tiny flea
‘What good you do I cannot see

You lose your way in a plush rug or carpet’
The flea said, ‘Perhaps… Maybe ~
Come. I shall sell you in my market’

The sweet breeze making the tree limbs sway
brings the scent of pine tonight.
Drunken, two bunnies gracefully play
in the gentle glow of the firefly night.

The painted sky begins to fade
and the stars are becoming bright.
The sky is now dark blue suede,
in the gentle glow of the firefly night.

The crickets begin their lullaby.
The lovely songbirds cease their flight.
The moon grows ever big in the sky,
in the gentle glow of the firefly night.

Sitting on my big swinging tire,
I wonder at the spectacular sight,
of the little round balls of fire
that brightens this beautiful firefly night.

Premium Member Rainbow In The Dark

I feel so bold I have a firefly’s heart
Black wind blows drowning the stars
Demons dance leaving faithless scarred
Do you have a chance rainbow in the dark

I hear a song from long ago
Before I was a sparkle in eye
Melody that brings you close
Even before you live or die

How can it be He calls me
Despite the devil’s plan
Just a soldier in these streets
And it’s time to dance

I’m not into black magic
I’ve never as well been a saint
Life sometimes wreaks havoc
Causing terrible pain

Demons try to get your mind
You feel some kind of way
Darkness comes making blind
And you need to be saved

I feel so bold I have a firefly’s heart
Black wind blows drowning the stars
Demons dance leaving faithless scarred
Do you have a chance rainbow in the dark

Firefly

If I had to use one word to describe our relationship it would be ‘dim’
Never something
But never nothing
No, we never talked about it like we were each others’ sun
Maybe a flickering star at best
Like a needle in a haystack
It wasn’t apparent to everyone
But at least it was there
A spark in the dark always seems brighter than it is
So when it was snuffed out I went blind for a second
All I had were questions
The answers were right in front of me
But alas, it was too dark to see
So I ran into anything that felt like light
I realize that I hate being a moth
If I could be a firefly instead I think I’d be happier
We’d be happier, not that there is a ‘we’ anymore
A part of me thinks
maybe you’d come flapping back to me
If I could be a firefly

Firefly

We were sleeping on balmy nights
Blinds were awakening in sticky October
People were waiting and whispering during the flight
Mob was ecstatic and somber.
Sylph, a beautiful nymph emerges from nowhere
She rushes and lushes everywhere
She fused folks around the globe
She knows how to handle the mob!
Glowing with grace and dignity
She wears the mask of purity
She is the little princess of another planet
People call and admire her rarity.
Sometimes she seems like the butterfly of words worth
Sometimes she is the song of autumn of Keats
Sometimes she is lyrics of Shelley's wind
And sometimes, she is the Muse of Earth.
Her aura is majestic and ecstatic
She is the unheard poem of Romantics
People name her Tajallah
She is the oxygen in universal law!

Hope glows in the lamp of the firefly

Here and gone in the wink of an eye

Be your own Firefly

I can feel u sinking
Over thinking
Thinking about drinking
Feeling hated
Colors faded
Whole worlds jaded
Fear of being rejected
Defeated, puzzle pieces all dissected
Stop, it's time to redirect it
Skies to the water, take a moment and reflect it
Remember your roots you aren't alone, we are all connected
Reignite the fire within, resurrect it
Your worth is priceless, don't neglect it
Destiny awaits for you to turn the page and select it

         Ephemeral light of the firefly
           floating in the dark sky
blinks and blinks, without being a star...

A Summery Night

the sparkling green trees
alight within blackish swathes

Premium Member Sleepless Night

It’s 1:25 why oh why
Am I up at this hour
Did the phone ring
Or was it a denim dream
Planted in mind like green flower

Earlier today was only half awake
Was fatigued and really annoyed
Not even piano could I play
To fill the blue thrilless void

Oh poetry come rescue me
Give breath to dormant thoughts
Green like my snake plant leaves
Or red like bedroom lover hearts

Take me to your room poetic muse
And strip me of my clothes
Let our kinetic kisses burgundy bloom
Placed from head to brown toes

Rid me of this waste of night
Where fireflies dance upon moonlight
Give me inspiration for life
Devour me like blackberry pie.

Taipei Firefly Season

Taipei summer bright
Enhancing the city's night
Flashing firefly light.
