Crumm

An anonymous artist had named the painting:
'Bertram Crumm'
it was simply a depiction of a man
trudging over a blank Landscape.

No one had heard of this man,
but this enigmatic fact alone was intriguing,
and now he was perfectly framed.

After many years
an art critic tracked him down.
Crumm claimed to be a meatpacker
who worked in Allen Town,
yet no one could see him as a meatpacker
working in Allen Town.

Some saw nobility in his gait and posture,
some saw a furtive mindset, most declared
emphatically that Crumm was definitely
a poet!

If we had known
that Crumm had often confessed to his family
that he loathed poetry and was indifferent
to art in general
then that landscaped/portrait
would still be gathering dust in a Goodwill shop.
However, a billionaire owns it now,

and ironically,
he also can't write a lick of poetry either.

Outside The Box

Heard the term “outside the box”?
What box are they referring to?
Sitting in my jammies at my computer
Don't see no box, do you?

A term you hear a lot these days
What can it possibly mean
This old guy is totally confused
Totally betwixt and between

Catch phrases have always confused me
Prefer simple Dick and Jane words
So all us grandpas can decipher them
This stuff is sure for the birds

Maybe I'll get an old cardboard box
And sit me therein for a while
Then emerge and start thinking of stuff
In a clever “outside the box” style

Really that's not at all what it means
Heard someone say emphatically
To go where no man has gone before
Think a lot more erratically

Now confused much more than ever
Think I'll lie down for a while
Till the world spins a few more times
And I get back my winning smile<>

For You

Pray to Him…ask Him…and you shall receive 
All you need to do is have faith in Him and believe. 

He hears your praise and your prayer 
He will safeguard you and love you because He will always care. 

His love for you is absolute and emphatically true
Open your heart to Him and He will be a personal savior to you. 

He died on a cross for you and three days later, ascended to glorious Heaven above 
You are a cherished child of His and for you, He has the utmost sincere love.

When Summer is Gone

When Summer is gone along with substantial flowers,
a lingering memory, I wonder “were you here at all?”

It will only be, in each new Spring reviving,
that the iris near the tear duct blooms.

When Summer is gone and leaves float downstream
blains renew with a chill in the air,

and the maples and oaks lose
their grief stricken hues.

When Summer is gone, that means Spring too,
then Fall is the midpoint so far from you,

as the years yield their acorn pelts
I pumpkin-kiss and miss you.

When Summer is gone and the “I love you,” is silent,
in the deep drifts of the Winter white blanket,

still I hear your motherly voice in the wind,
emphatically reap your snowdrop smile.

Max’s Angel in Surround Sensation

pink paragon
renders no features;
a buoyant olive
shouldered above florid wings.
golden halo, open ring.
nature’s schmooze, profound.
deeply saturated midnight
in the labyrinth of the deep.
peacock blush of fancied feathers.
the heart beats
a magnanimous red,
emphatically so,
with corona seeds
like rays of the sun.

Max’s angel in surround sensation
would overwhelm the flesh.
the scent of peak, kaleidoscopic climax, meridian elocution -
an euphoric Eden.

Emphatically Speaking

With common sense so sporadic 

I just want to be emphatic

But with all this social static

It's hard to remain pragmatic

Listening Emphatically

When personal narcissism
and tribal autism
choose our words
as hurting 
threatening 
weapons of trauma defense

Rather than choosing wealth
of healing win/win tools
for compassion's therapeutic 
mind/body unfence

We soon find 
that no one cares
to impatiently listen
outside our partisan walls

For whatever future mindful kindness
and EarthBody forgiveness
we cannot trust
will win/win 
wealth/health last.

Shadow Song

In gentle whispers, entrancing

Echoes of starry eyed wishes
Glistening beneath the moonlight

Gesturing to the roaring night
Old followers need consoling

A Near Death Experience

A point to ponder… 
why I wonder
when we are young
and get jerked awake
by a dream or a nightmare
are we hugged and comforted
given the assurance 
“It’s not real, it’s not real!!”
and when we are older
and get jerked awake
by a dream or a nightmare
we tell ourselves
with great relief
“It’s not real, it’s not real!!”
whether young or old
we will however marvel
at how unbelievably 
real it was
but will gratefully accept
the comforting fact 
that it wasn’t real
not any of it
it all happened 
inside our heads
but  
when someone 
has a near-death experience
and they tell us  
of all the wondrous things
that they saw and did
inside their heads
whilst clinically dead
there are those of us
who emphatically believe
that what went on
inside that head
on that occasion
was in fact real
proving beyond doubt
that there is life after death
that that experience
fuelled and moulded
by the unknown forces at play
inside our heads
whilst clinically dead
actually happened
what I wonder 
is the difference between the two
all of it 
every single bit of it 
happens 
inside our heads.

Magic Spell

I saw a wizard cast a magic spell.
Six dolphins jumped from the sea.
He asked me kindly not to tell.
They grew legs and danced with glee.
They really danced quite well.

He caught a wave in his hand, 
From one of the seven seas
He turned it into a strip of land.
On that island he put some trees,
Also, tropical flowers quite grand.

He then turned his attention to me.
He suggested a gift, very expensive.
And asked what I wanted to be. 
He stood looking very pensive.
I answered  emphatically “just me.”

Hellboy Anung Rama

The offspring of a demonic creature and a mage
Attempting to stop doomsday predictions, judge:
In a dissent to paradise, the proper arm of doom
Such a young child is guided by his pastry loom.

Brought into the world from the hellish recess.
which he will twice reconsider and reassess!
a position of respect and honor in society.
He is emphatically worthy of godliness and piety!

Demons, skeletons, specters, and eidolons
Both holy and profane matters must be dealt on.
He is currently in office and is an honorable man.
shielded by the colossal force of his clan!

Both his wrap and cord might serve as storage.
to counteract his penchant for the dark judge.
not to recognize that they were unsuccessful.
He might instantly intend for the neck, dreadful!

Rasputin, Ogdru-Jahad, as well as Baba Yaga
It's a few of the evils he may face in this saga.
Alias of the fanciful hero Hellboy is Anung Rama,
who appeared across several eponymous enigmas.

Stone Soup

The storm stirred…having ingredients our neighbors provided.
Stolen goods, the storm stashed in its wings, and headed East.
The storm boiled in Mississippi - all baby boomers spelled
that state voraciously m-i-ss-i-ss-i-pp-i…the eye of the storm, calm,
while the raptor tore apart lives. The weeping of dark clouds
over smithereens. The storm with a long wooden handle, stirring
hail and adding more broth. No one cared for this stone soup.

From wikipedia: Stone Soup is a European folk story in which hungry strangers convince the people of a town to each share a small amount of their food in order to make a meal that everyone enjoys, and exists as a moral regarding the value of sharing.

Prayers for those affected by this terrible storm!

From a Wife's Perspective

My frustratingly obstinate hubby 
Drives me crazy
Always loudly fixing the unfixable 
Without any success.
He kept on tinkering stubbornly 
Under the kitchen sink
Despite my fervent plea to... 
"Just call the plumber already!"
True to form, he dismissed me with...
"No need, sweetie. I'll fix this, trust me."...
I told him, "But babe, it's worst off now!"
Even my daughter sided me on this.
"Dad, I actually agree Mom," she told him
"I think you should call it in," she added.
But did her advice penetrate? Of course not!
"No need, pumpkin. I know what I'm doing,"
He says to her, emphatically. 
How typical of him. 
The following day,
He's still scooping water out of the sink 
With a salad bowl.
My daughter says to him,
"Dad, how about calling the plumber?
And then I said...
"Hon, why don't you ever listen to us?"
He finally calls the plumber
With my side eye trained on him.

My Mirror Looking Back

the years have added
to my patina in ways
that were not pre-approved

they crept up
one saggy whimper
one tiny wrinkle at a time

sly and sneaky
perfidious and insidious 
emphatically inclined

till one day barely recognizable
the years took their toll
adding much to my patina

River Voice

Here lies what this aged Indigenous River
thinks s/he needs
and wants, perhaps,
but most emphatically feels,
from us.

We continue to use Her
more like a shameful toilet
than her delivery system 
of upstream pure
and nutritious drinking water
would suggest she had coming
from former deep green estuaries

Root flow systems
sacredly emerging functions
from deep EarthMother's darkest
primal wu-wei
winter womb,
dipolar co-arising
health is wealth compunction,
conservation.

Ancient indigenous wisdom
suggests we would be healthier
if we didn't dump on MamaEarth,
from whom we safely drink,
should we hope to keep hunger
and thirst at bay
with and for future regenerations

Pursuing our healthiest dipolar nature-spirit
co-arising win/win wealth
of ecopolitically enlightened nutrition

And empowering fertile poop repurposing
for cultivating improved soil health trends

Ego- and Eco-systemic
permaculturing design,
cooperative planning,
nonviolent implementation priorities
for local community co-invested resilience.
