Night lay in deep, mournful silence,
Quiet without life’s sweet presence.
Shadows moved brutally monstrous.
Arrows of fear dashed horrendous.
Soon darkness from the earth moved out.
Moon went to its secret hide out.
Sun came on his diurnal shift.
Fun it was to watch snow clouds drift.
Night was covered in pitch darkness.
Looked fearful without a ray of brightness.
Through wilderness, moved beasts monstrous.
Nature looked so terrifying and cheerless.
After a night’s sleep the sun woke up.
As a mighty king he climbed up.
The East, like a neon bulb got lighted up.
Bright rays from the golden globe came up.
Soon darkness from the earth moved out.
Men from their homes merrily came out.
Birds from their nests, into the sky, flew out.
Sweet songs from their beaks flowed out.
Clear and cool was the morning air.
Men set out for work with plans clear.
Buzzing with life, the day was back to cheer.
Earth turned once again a lovely sphere!
Virgil the virgin was eagerly urging
his girlfriend to make him a man
Had nowhere private to go get excited
so he bought an old caravan
The seller in Dover said it’s been checked over
it’s actually ready to take
He took his word for it as soon as he saw it
so he didn’t check the handbrake
Parked up on a hill, played safe, took a pill
He’s sure she’ll succumb to his begs
But he wasn’t able to make the van stable
He forgot to wind down the legs
But soon getting fruity with his little cutie
The van was rock rocking all day
She cried out for more then they fell to the floor
And the van began rolling away
Sped up as it rolled down a hill that was holed
And each pothole made his girl Yelp
She clearly approved and cried out ‘The earth moved
Those little blue pills really help’
But at the cliff top the van didn’t stop
And she snuggled into him sighing
He gave her a kiss and said ‘I’ll tell you this
Baby I feel like I’m flying’
It rose as if by heart's desire;
For a morning aglow, a need was dire.
Like a pin prick to the heart, you feel
A beauty nothing can conceal.
It blazed within a sky so clear;
So brilliant it caused a tear.
And down it poured;
The tranquil earth restored.
Such a morning--to feel its glare!
So lovely when the weather's fair.
To lie upon a morning chaise;
At shimmery skies to gaze.
It beamed as if by God's command;
And people laughed in the sand.
Dispelled the mist; the flowers bloomed;
In different colors were they costumed.
It came as if from deepest wish,
With intensity that was feverish.
I dreamt the earth moved round and round--
Yellow fire blazed without a sound.
Once upon a day at night
Your star hovered over me
Lighting up that night
A gleam though your eyes
So bright, it sparkled in my soul
All fears disappearing
With just one look of this star
It shot across the sky
Hitting my heart that night
I wished upon you one wish
Then day appeared
Becoming my sunlight
Warmth took over my body
As the earth moved over the sea
The waves of our love
Captured our minds into this ocean
Of Love
Sparks flew
The earth moved
And I knew
Your love was going to bury me
March 2nd, 2019
The moment that changed a city
The moment that changed a town
The moment that the earth did move
The moment that walls came down.
Sudden shock in the dark of night
Not expected before a coming day
Jolted from a peaceful sleep
From a nasty brutal sway.
What seemed to be eternity
Seconds that weren't so quick
Suddenly silence spread its sound
Except the echo of an old clocks tick.
Fears for friends and family
The networks all gone down
Checking neighbours in the street
Emotions shaky as the ground.
Listening to the radio
Expecting death to fill the air
Bracing with every aftershock
Terror laid fully bare.
Angels must have worked that night
No one badly harmed
Not knowing in the future
We weren’t to be so charmed.

Christchurch Earthquake September 4th 2010. The smaller earthquake on February 22nd 2011 was to claim 185 lives.
Awakened from sleep by a loud, jarring rumble
Shaken, confused, as the earth moved beneath
As I leapt from my bed, I stumbled and tumbled
And so frightened and numb, I was white as a sheet
While the clash and the clatter of everything crumbled
I escaped, not willing to meet death's defeat.

No thoughts left behind – memories full of pain
A planet of freed slaves
Freedom from our biological – molecular chain
From our dinosaur masters
Inherited a mouth full of teeth – a head full of bone
We have imagined dragons - worst monsters
Never stayed long enough to enjoy their reign
Hearts in mind – we fly a white flag
The earth moved and all life was foreign
Sleep deprived – our dreams are vague
The source of power – the fire that burns within
This vision was never ours to argue

When the earth moved in libation to the skies,
her soul is as lively as the sun,
with invigorations of praise.
To dance with her is to know her life force again,
after the rain replenished her thirst.
The day was dark and gloomy, here he come via the Delarosa
The burden of the cross too heavy to bear as blood trickled down his face
The crowd cried out in agony as they saw their Savior lose stability
The sound of anguish filled the air, while his tormentors begin to cheer
The lashes get louder; harder, more intense as he carried his cross to the end
Anguish with pain, they hammered the nails through his hands and feet one by one
Overcome with grief he cried out in pain, Father why have you forsaken me
The women wept, his brethrens fall on their knees overcome by what they see
Suddenly the heaven shook, the earth moved and his tormenters
began to flee as God open heaven’s portal to raise his son to victory
There he cried out "Father it is finished my work here on earth is done.”
His mother wept, but his brethren remember the third day is coming
When the angels would roll the stone away, and our Lord would appear.
The moonless night.
Earth moved near the
sun. Record tides.
I waited for –
you, before ice
berg will hit us.
Unsinkable. I
believed was our
life. You did’t.
Satish Verma
There was a couple that went off to Spain
They sat on the roof sunbathing again
They felt the earth shake
Though love they didn’t make
It was a 5.8 earthquake, that hit once again
"... do you have it..."
"... it's broken in two..."
"... give them to me..."
Away through screaming light
Air brushed eyes blinding sight
And the earth moved.
Over the shoulder of my Mother
A doorway shrinks away as I look.
Trees moved the sounds of Rook
and the greens leaves parted.
There at the stream we drank
and rested before we moved on.
My mother cried as she said his name.
Then she called me Ford and said
"... your name is Long"
The earth moved,
Weary souls, dare to hope
God is here
