yes i was
at the will
thankfully
not killing
anyone

except myself
as the officer
deflated me
from breathing
air bag i barely

remembering
telling him i
was just out
to get some
chicken

though i'm
vegetarian
how would
he know
and why

would i
be saying
this to him
as if it were so
matterafactually

who cares
and apparently
i didn't because
i didn't ask if any
one got hurt

Accountability

Just read in the papers
your name once more;
illogical the powers
which huddle unseen.
You sat in my class,
scholarship’s pilgrim. 
I recall your nascent soul,
tranquil but with drive.

Now, your face, a shock
which scorches my eyes,
Pondering your death
mercifully, my spirit cries. 
Last year, reports of gangs  
front page news, three guys,
a dusting of charges
assault, theft, DUI’s.
A battle raging.

Scraps of metal 
Surround the trees
Lying on the leaf covered floor
Smoke still rising 
From the smoldering engine
Heating the leather interior
A headlight makes a path to see
The other in front
A shattered windshield
Shows the flesh torn body
And the beer cans that 
Survived.

It was a dark, snowy night,
My blurry eyesight,

I'm just trying to get from point a to B
But I can barely see,

I can hardly walk, talk, stand,
My slurred speech,

I know I shouldn't be driving,
But nothing will happen to me...

Until all of a sudden my car swerves,
It ignites my nerves,
I jerk the wheel to avoid going off
