Premium MemberGive me back the seventies

the seventies is my go-to decade
for it is when I was my cutest
and my three daughters were born
I looked terrific in my bell bottom jeans

the edge of them had rickrack and lace
I embroidered a happy face and flowers on her pockets
my go-to vest was loaded with fringe
I wore my hair long and messy; I felt wild and free

the music of the seventies was anti-war
Folk music of the Mamas and Papas
The Carol Burnett Show was marvelous
As was Barney Fife on Andy Griffith

Women did not have to wear make up
We could burn our bras, and we did
Helen Reddy wrote and sang “I am Woman”
It was a powerful time for us, especially me.

Premium MemberGinger Cat

I have this little Ginger Cat.
Lord knows what he sees
in me! – cutest adoring eyes
I don’t deserve; purrs in
reserve, as he settles to cuddle
and be stroked.
All I do is feed him, a bowl of
fresh water couple times a day --
box of clay for his business – but,
I could almost swear, that there is
true love for me, exhibited in even
our mundane close encounters

given a chance, he would kill every
backyard dove...just for fun shred

I guess, he’s only being a cat for I
keep him well fed

hoping God instructs Michael
to give similar latitude when it
comes to His Man

sure can be confusing, when
considering, God, and His, often, perplexing
species' plan....

Shaggy Dog Story

Friends, humans, country bumpkins,
bend me your ears;
'tis too true a tale
I tell thee here...
Once upon a time,
knew a girl who owned a mutt
but she did exclaim,
'It's the cutest pup you ever did see,'
all the same, it seems to be
asinine to give a dog a bad name
but it's not the worst
her canine could receive,
it wasn't cursed
when she called her pooch,
my pet 'Peeve'.

Premium MemberAsheville North Carolina

Walking downtown streets of Asheville
I could hear drums in the white wind
Despite being deserted I feel a thrill
Of creative energy hoping to thrive again

The shops full of unique crafts and goods
With store workers seemingly bored
Gentrified was the emerald neighborhood
But evidence of roots still in stores

Helene had come through full steam
Wiping away many quaint little places
Despite that people here still dream
Need for hurricane relief etched in faces

I picked up the cutest jewelry at Noir
Was impressed by the design and symbol
The artist had breast cancer, a star
Who designs shine in times not simple

And the drumming was the shop above
That sold music coffee and specialty gifts
Three men playing drums with love
Giving ambiance and silver souls a lift

I can say I survived Hurricane Hugo
And I have some sense of their loss
But we had more support than they do
If you can shop online or visit help their cause

Premium MemberThe Bee in the Garden

My three-year-old son stood next to me

as I watered our garden of flowers

                          The zinnias nodded their blossoms

As if grateful for garden hose showers

A firework array, was that garden display

                                Of pinks, yellows, orange,

                                       Purple, red

When my son asked the cutest of

                                 Questions to me

In the darlingest way ever said

As he eyed that large bumbling bee

That he found alarmingly too close to me

Not quite in fear, as its buzzing drew near

And it sampled of pollens so dear

But at his first sight of that yellow bright fuzz

And the loud droning volume of that giant bee's buzz

He just needed to know all was right

                                      He asked

                    "Mommy? Do humming bee's bite?"

Premium Memberwhat is the difference

Little chick came to the barnyard dressed up like a queen
Her floral dress was the cutest we had ever seen
Donkey made fun of it, and she called him mean.
Pigs threw mud on it, so it was now nothing clean.

Why do they act like that? The chick asked her mother.
Jealousy or envy, I guess, she said, one or the other.
What is the difference? Asked little Chick’s obnoxious brother.
Get me a dictionary, said little chick’s literate mother.

Premium MemberDean the Cutest Roller Skating Giraffe

Dean was roaringly cute with curly turquoise hair
A skater in pink roller skates, with a superior air
He was born in Savanna in a tiny little zoo
But he had been touring since he was two

People went crazy when he got into town
The zoo had a circus, with a tent big and brown.
They made a parade starring their featured act, Dean
He was the cutest giraffe most had ever seen

LEPRECHAUN II

Upon walking I saw
The cutest lil thing
A dressed-up leprechaun
Carrying a shillelagh stick
With a long pipe in his mouth
And circles coming from his ears
It looked like rings of fire
Oh dear, oh dear, it was
Coming from his extra-long beard
As he strutted along, not a care
In the world, he starts to spin as
He twirls and twirls, unleashing
A strange glare

Till We Mend

Into me
A voyage
To discovery
Oh what strength lies ahead
Ain't afraid
Ain't ashamed
Out there searching
Forgetting the past
So focused on the future
Where skies will never gray
I part ways with my inner demons
Cast them aside like I was once
A brand new me
In the flesh
Don't judge
Don't criticize
I'll stand here
Till you see all you are missing
I might not be the cutest
The most gifted
But I am inspiration
I am my own interpretation
I struggle and fall
I always get up
I will continue on despite you
I am everything you are still searching for
Perfectly broken till we mend.

as the tide goes

The long fun bantering conversations
Eye to eye
Lazer beams
Side by side
In the crowd
Walking into the evening glow
Over the glasses of umerock and namachuu
The smooth and calm sway of the train
Our reflections in the window
Talking until there was only
That last train
That last stop
Where it was only us
When it was only us
Us two
Laying down on the grass
Near the river
Side by side
Content in each other’s presence
Thinking back,
I realize that I’ve seen this scene before
From a direct, top view perspective
A year?? Perhaps a few months ago
My psyche somehow
Subconsciously
Somehow always knew
Meant to be, was this moment? You don’t need to try so hard to be
Oh, so cool
Oh, so hardcore
Until
Once I snap back a witty remark
His baby face scrunches into the cutest laugh
He just can’t hold it in
His hand, warm
Wrapping mine
Different yet similar scars
I think we both know
That this isn’t
Casual
Oh no
Much more than that
Oh, not so typical
No need to try too hard
No need to force it
Flowing naturally
As the tide goes

Visitor

This morning I got visitor...
The cutest ever little guest.
A sparrow, walking as a twister
on my rope with washings space.
It looked at me with browny eyes
and bravely stayed in front...
A piece of bread I found at once
and my guest got his breakfast pot...
I hope that little sparrow friend
will start to come each day.
My crumbs will wait for him no end
and he will bring me joy.

Premium MemberMy Imaginary Friends

Of them I have a few and I will admit this only to you
they are not from here and they are very, very blue
These little one foot creatures are from outer space
they are well behaved and have the cutest face.
I named one Volcano because of his cyborg strength,
though he talks in monosyllables he also talks at length !
Then there is Jukebox, he loves to sing at night
he can hit an octave but he isn't very bright.
Out of all my little friends my favorite one is Hue,
he's a Venutian little chatterbox and he isn't all that blue
He smiles so much that it gives him gas,
but I like him cuz he always makes me laugh,
and knows just what to do.

az your face had the hot flash
                                 that breathe
