Passionate Affair

my head throbbed like
a jackhammer in full bore
my eyes felt like pieces of
eighty grit sandpaper
it was another Tequila Sunrise
which was no surprise

when we first met, I was her
bad boy, Desperado type,
she was my Witchy Woman
I was the New Kid in Town,
she was an old hand In the City
we both liked to live
Life in the Fast Lane

we first met at the sleazy, time worn
Hotel California
our love affair set my life
on fire and left me feeling
on top of the world

it all came crashing down
when she said what do we
do After the Thrill is Gone
I knew she was angling for
a way to end it
she finished her drink
cooly stood up and walked out
no word of goodbye nor tear
in her eye
she left a gaping supermassive black
Hole in the World
I was sucked in to the hole
with no chance to escape
tequila was my only relief

I live in hope that
One of These Nights
I will find another just like her

Premium Member Crowdown

I stepped outside, feeling low.
There, before me, stood a crow.
He cooly looked me up and down
as he wore a beaky frown.
I wondered, would I lose my blues
if I could wear this birdy's shoes?
Would his life be more complete,
he asked, if he could have my seat?
But I wasn't sitting on a seat,
and no shoes were on his feet.

Premium Member Tree and Boy

seed
aloft,
lands lightly,
sends roots below,
sprouts into sunshine,
and, as the seasons pass,
becomes a great sycamore,
while, below, a boy lies face up,
and reflects under its swaying limbs,
"a climbing tree is not built in a day".

tree
regards
a young boy's
strong, supple limbs
on a summer's day.
both of us, in our primes
he thinks, shading the spry youth,
cooly offering his branches,
pondering the pervasive creature,
"you see tree climbing boys every summer".

Scared to death

As shadows laid where none could go,
The dark sky etched fear in a scrawl,
Making hearts to leap out of sight,
Silhouettes of danger scared all,
A cooly breeze whispered the fright,
Meanwhile, death crept closer too slow.

Premium Member Golden Summer Blues

Wouldst thou lean ye summer blaze generous
thoust wilt naught as sea douse thee
cooly soaked ... or wake up

Wouldst in yawning amidst kerfuffle cord
freed in time broadcast air
curtain's [drawn--(saddened face]--rain)

Yea nay to sun, nay yea to rain but then
yea nay to work, still again
nay nay to fun ... that's life

Under a State of Emergency
         California Inferno

We thought 113 degrees was so bad?
Now people and pets have to run for their lives!
Whilst we sit cooly in out poetic
dives!
So absorbed in this community of
electronic society?

Looking out my window, seeing yellowed skies.
Full of smoke and debris,
Best stay indoors, highly advised.
Northern California, we are taking
a big hit!
Thanks to the fury of lightning, which dry brush
and trees took afiery hit.

Vacaville, Fairfield, Napa being evacuated.
It's frightening to be living here.
Once a free- thinking state that
I held so very dear.

To be in the middle of the virus
and people running for their lives,
Makes me want to take my cat,
a few things.
But, I ask..where is there to hide?

Premium Member My Way Continues

complicated by your mysterious eyes and then you smiled my way.
incompliant hair, teased by the brawny solar wind, potently alluring.
my pulse swoons at your flawless turquoise eyes, their iconic sway.
i thought i’d play it cooly (let’s be honest beg) give up everything.

your smile arced my way.
your feet followed suit.
my tinman- mouth display
at your provocative pursuit.

your charm like a diamond cave, a knight shining, loosened my mine
— all sparkles from my full mouth of teeth, my gums reveal score.
the stage illuminates, hugs us with its warmth; this fame divine.
you turn out to be sweet and nice, a bit introverted, and i adore.

our hands they touched, electricity in synch, our hearts are complete.
never’d believe how we were meant for each other, when first we’d meet.

The Burning Candle

A Candle
To the soft touch of my breath
and stillness of the room
it cooly shivers
reaching high at times
to touch any other soft object
and lightly scorch it
The Burning Candle

Redding Poem 2
"Sacramento River WordScape"

These descendent waters swim like mad lagoon fish,
Heading decidedly south with a fiery mindless turn,
Their cool liquid urgencies reaching to all sides enticing
The bosomy turning earth and its pectoral indecencies,
With an impotent power unknown to anyone alive now,
As watery signatures knife their way into the crestfallen sand bars,
Adrift in an ambiguous undertow of death-marked reticences;
Swimming and floating lazily as a red lily floats downstream,
Enveloped cooly in blue clarity, absorbed by diamond sureness,
These arching trees lapping inward the reeking salmon atoms,
As rippling currents of heaving hands and wild bone sneezes,
Salvage the unsalvageable, and a solitary blue bird
Jiggling a crimson ring, as it bobs upon its ascended perch.

Rain Pray

Grey mounds of a futile landscape
Life is a feeling the fuel
Rain thunders; under cover drape
Remote, imm'diate and truthful
Neb'lous clouds in illusion shape

O', but how the cooly wind blows
Watching out the drifty clouds, stroll
Spatters across the patios
Water bubbles in bristling roll
Sighing each bursting bubble shows

Pouring it down with all embrace
Falling a down, the hard and fast
Out of the sky, into my face
The beauty of the moment, cast
The smell of wet earth, anyplace

O' sniff of cool crispy clean air
So that is all around remain
It's so complete and so aware
Feel no sorrow, I feel no pain
In rain, as I stand in prayer

Strange Birds

Against the blue backdrop of life,
My lover walked away with my heart.

As she cooly abandoned the path of her and I,
Her raven hair suffered at the mercy of the breeze.

She wore a confused grey school bag of white regret,
And carried a misunderstood grey briefcase of wasted time.

In an angry fist, she squeezed my throbbing heart.

Gore and blood dripped:
from my hollow chest,
To my jerking heart,
In sticky synchronized harmony.

And as I gazed at her lovely figure departing
Colors bled into one another,
And the acrid scent of betrayal
wafted into my nostrils,
slowly suffocating me.

With shaky palms, I gripped my chest -
Vacant and silent.

Warm blood slid down my marble belly,
And for the deranged moment of a second,
I fancied the wirely taste of blood.

I sought to fill the void, but the thump thump of my heart,
only quivered in her accursed palms.

Stand By Your Man

I Hereby Salute!

Those were the days........
Uncle loomed in many ways............
More joy at home ..........
With the cards well played...........
Life has become lonely.........
Yet he takes it very cooly.............
Sits tall in his chair............
Undying spirit is his flair.........
In a house emptily........
Adulated by kin many.............
Some shy to express.............
His impartial heart not digress..............
Fathered hand.........
When shelter was anon..............
His door they knocked............
Their life was so blank.......
Knowing he was in there..............
Footholds found everywhere..........
Revered by those ..........
Whose hearts silently rose........
To a Man of integrity........
I hereby salute!

Empty Room

Alone again now
Seems no hope’s forthcoming
Nothing makes a sound
But a hearts hard drumming

The nights are cold, forlorn
Waiting for a touch
In pieces, a life torn
The need of you oh so much

An empty bed, an Empty Room
Wishing one were here
I’ll find you in dreams soon
Yes my love, take away my fear

And so as I think of you tonight
Love songs fill my mind
As I try with all my might
Hoping to search you out, and find

Deep thoughts, late nights, and fears
As I imagine how I’ll fare
In my life, who will fill the years
With whom my heart and soul I’ll share

An empty bed, an Empty Room
Wishing one were here
I’ll find you in dreams soon
Yes my love, take away my fear

But for today only an Empty Room
Comforted cooly only by the moon
My love, I’ll be with you soon
Far away, in another Empty Room

Racism Takes You To Karma Hell

You are shelling out a lot
Of racist evil remarks
That I don't appreciate
Your full of negative hate
Why are you so cruel and mean
What have your darkened eyes seen
That turned you into a bully
Sputtering out words so cooly
With no regard to the feelings
Of the people you sent reeling
Into a depressive state
Soon it will be much too late
To fix damage you have done
Every time your hatred runs
From the dark shell of your soul
Not knowing the tragic toll
Your creating with your ways
And the way your words will slay
Into innocent hears and minds
That break with new words you find
Disregarding everyone you see
That looks and acts differently
From others that fit your norm
Keep this up and soon the storm
Will fall on your poor existence
Making you see the conditions
You've been putting others in
Will backtrack on you again
As karma and fate combine
Slowly over years of time
Causing havoc in your life
Making your days full of strife
Unkind--not caring at all
As you finally take the fall
Leaving you alone to pass
To hell that will kick your A--

Elemental Senses

Air shares its delightful grace
  stroking, caressing every face.
Wind tickles crawling clouds
  Then breezes by whistling loud.
Fire jigs a spritely dance
  spouting quips with pops and
  cracks.
Water gulps a bubbling brew
then babbles back a trickling tune.
Earth gazes cooly at warm light
and breathes the musk of days
damp night.
