Premium Member She Knows Me

Yes, she knows me, she’s known me from the start
Soulmates throughout eternity, she knows me in her heart

She knows the words my heart would say
And knows the thoughts I think each day

She sees my smile and knows its cause
And feels my love without a pause

She knows the joy that we feel
When once again we’ve topped a hill

And all the love when we embrace
When we have finished a 5K race

She knows I love her for her mind
Unique, intelligent, the creative kind

I promised a life of love and adventure
But that first kiss of her hand was the heart-melding clincher

Premium Member The Clincher

On New Year’s Eve 1962 she looked great!
It was then that I knew our inevitable fate
We had the most wonderful time together
I didn’t know and didn’t care about the weather
Her beauty rivaled any Hollywood star
And there I was her date with my mouth ajar
I was sure that our chemistry was a good match
And was humbled and spellbound by her as my catch!
We brought in the New Year with a wonderful kiss
It was natural and timely and I had hoped I wouldn’t miss!
It was on that night that I knew she’d be mine
Our love had begun and the stars came out to shine!

My Tonsils

I had my tonsils taken out
When I was in first grade.
My younger brother did as well
And we were both afraid.

We didn’t really get it but
We somehow understood
That wearing P.J.’s in the car
Would lead to nothing good.

While driving to the doctor’s
There was time for me to think
And come up with a plan. (Such acts
Are field days for a shrink.)

The oldest child had privileges
So if worse came to worst,
I got my mom to promise that
My brother would go first.

The deal was made, so I relaxed
Until the doc was prepped,
The ether waiting for my bro,
If promises were kept.

But herein comes the clincher –
I was dragged in first and cried,
Not only for the surgery –
My mom had flat-out lied!

Premium Member The Craziest Time In Istanbul

We had the craziest time in Istanbul
We were stuck for three months during
the ongoing Pandemic
The bustling city lost it’s rhythm and rhyme
Like a heart that misses a beat one day at that time
The streets grew empty the Café’s were shut
The people were few and the weekends were curfew
There was no Funicular to greet me.

Hotels were shutting one after another
We changed eight different ones till it was time to go
We were lucky and chose to stay in front of the
Bosphorus Sea once more
This was a blessing and a clincher for me.
My companions now were the gulls
And the different ships and hulls
And the best of all was the wide open sea.

We would walk the promenade
And keep ourselves fit so that the virus doesn’t
give us a hit.
The sea was our guide and friend
When we felt lost then
To our utter delight one day we saw
Dolphins swimming in the sea
From that moment I knew nature was
the truest companion who stood by me
We braved it all and came home safe to
Our beautiful family.

Premium Member Birds Are Confused

Quite mild temps so far this winter
Not complaining, not even a whimper
Birds are confused
Tulips are excused
They think it's time, bikinis are the clincher

Premium Member A Terrible Disease

Oh it is so sad I said in tears.
Not knowing she was deaf and blind.
In a fetal position for two years.
Clincher that she had lost her mind.
Alzheimer’s is one of my big fears.
A disease that is terribly unkind.

Wrong Aisle

Behold the beguiled,
they're the ones who always
walk down the wrong aisle
It doesn't take much to catch their eye,
offer a free sample they might like to try
Hook 'em with the line
of an exclusive tour
Dangle a small prize as the shiny lure
You can always get 'em to buy
something they didn't come there for
And when they're waiting
in the checkout aisle,
make sure you flash
your most fetching smile
It's the deal clincher they simply can't ignore
Snag 'em and bag 'em
Then send 'em to your other store

Greetings To My Dentist

Greetings to My Dentist

Just thought that I would drop by for a while
So I could show off my shiny, great smile
And also my friend here is the final clincher,
I have been brushing my nice, new denture.

Premium Member This Person

There was a person I could not visit,
That outside of dreams I craved.
A person that transcended thought,
To whose memory I became enslaved.

Because lapsed time had given me,
Thoughts that bound me hard and fast.
I was left to ponder things about her,
If she were a dead hand of the past.

I recalled the few seed I'd planted,
Praying God's word in her would grow.
That He'd sent another to water this seed,
And if it sprouted, somehow I'd know.

Then one overcast day to my surprise,
Her posting which housed the clincher.
From this brief letter our lost was found,
And launched anew, friendship's adventure.

The Player

He thinks he is bright with his comments of wit.
I am a cute little actress he's picked for his skit.
Key on one of those words in the sentence above.
Is she the one playing this game he calls love?

He chooses his prey when it's just the right time.
Using strength above weakness; an unthinkable crime.
Yes, I recognize him for he's been here before.
I've changed many a lock on my chamber door.

Though, I can't demonstrate it now that time will reveal,
and I only wonder how this man will eventually feel.
When he oozes his charm with the ladies and then.
To finally wake up and notice how selfish he's been.

Now, for the clincher my rhymes almost done.
I will dangle my key in my lingerie of crimson.
For you've met your match in the art that you own.
For I am actually the player; The actress of stone.
