the click-clack climb, breathless pause of
reaching so high then... falling in love
If your choice is to climb the higher hill
You’ll need more supplies and a stronger will
For as you climb supplies will diminish
And some will be needed when you finish
If you’re looking for fun and a small thrill
You’ll find it better to choose a small hill
Choose one you can top in just a short span
With several trails up you won’t need a plan
Remember to stop if you need a rest
It isn’t a race and sure not a test
Also remember to take you a snack
Or you will get hungry when you start back
For those that went higher you paid your due
You topped the high hill you get the best view
Be Told
What worth a thousand
Can't be attained with hundreds
To know the degree
You must measure
To get to the top of a tree
You have to climb it.
Stay bold
If you're working on it
It will surely work out
When you give it your all
There must be an outcome
Even if not immediately but it's certain.
Take hold
A race can never be won
By standing
When the pistol
Had been fired
If you don't begin
You will never get to the endpoint.

Monocrostic (Birthday of Lovely Joy Nava)
Dirty and cheap at the same time.
Like mountains you can die climbing.
Got dirty (didn’t pay much) and still died.
So the mountain outnumbers us.
Someone like me who is cheap.
And likes to cheap out.
Does not possess much.
Except the weird map.
If I get up there.
Like a podium, but it’s too cold.
I would fly into the air.
As the avalanche chases me.
Recklessly eating all the rations.
As if I’m hiding them from my partners.
But no one ever follows me.
And my stingy path.
I got blood from a cut and dirt all over the snow.
Everything like that gets covered up by the Agents.
I could have bought a satellite phone.
Phone, phone, phone…
You can live really cheaply.
Or die just as cheaply.
Get discovered one day.
But it always snows again.
A tall tree I did climb,
on a bet of a dime.
Baby Bear said it was funny,
it was not for the big money.
The limb broke what a crime.

When life brings us what it brings us
We must never ignore the option of UP
Look up
Get up
Stand up
Sit up
Climb up
Lift up
Firm up
Rise up
Step up
Rouse up
Stir up
Move up
Scale up
Gather up
Regardless of what life brings us
Recovery follows when we explore the option of UP
When you reach
the top of the mountain
remember it is not about the mountain
It is about the legs that did not fail you
It is about the sun that lit your way
It is about the wind that served your momentum
It is about the focus that empowered your stay
It is about the lesson that cleared your vision
It is about the bruise that made you strong
It is about the hand that nurtured your decision
It is about the rain that taught your heart a song
When you reach
the top of the mountain
remember it is not about the mountain
The Wall
I look down from atop the wall—I am overwhelmed
fear paralyzes me—the challenge is too much
but I cannot stay here—life moves along
go says the voice in my head—my hands will not obey
Finish first, but leave your teammates in distress.
We all rise the same, one foot at a time,
Shaking off the morning’s disheveled grime.
Groggy, moody, still weary from sleep
Last night felt like a flash, fleeting, yet deep.
But here we are, ready to begin,
Stepping into the world we know, braving the din.
Some have coffee, some sip their tea,
Others are fasting, or enjoying breakfast, carefree.
Many hit the gym, pushing their limit before the grind,
While others save the sweat for the day's unwind.
It’s a choice, your rhythm, your time to decide,
But the instinct is there, a force we can’t hide.
Our minds feed on the motion, the drive to pursue,
You know you must do it there’s a calling for you.
Up and up, we climb ever higher,
Fueled by purpose, ignited by fire.
It’s no longer about us, it’s the vision we share
A world of endless possibilities laid bare.
Algorithms and equations, new rules to define,
No limits exist for what we can design.
Through the grind, the push, the ever-growing strive,
We transcend the norm, we thrive, we arrive.
Depression is like a game of Chutes and Ladders.
We climb and climb until our arms and legs are so numb and weak we can barely move. We want to give up but keep moving on. Until eventually we land on a chute falling all the way back to the bottom just to start over again and never quite make it to the finish line.
Essence Poem.
Climb hills, never apart,
Lord's mantle, ever heart....
thrust up from
desert floor
like a snow cone
icy mountain
dripping winter's lace
... Mt Lemon
only fifty miles from
this maze I'm
threading through
cracker box houses
snaking sidewalks
parks
playgrounds
groomed gravel
desert trees
...barking dogs
most pleasant 78 degrees
I've felt in forever
fifty miles
and that icy mountain
is another world
looks so cold I
don't even wanna
be there
gimme the
groomed gravel
and snaking sidewalks
today
it gets 90
forget the desert
I'll take the mountain
that way in my mind too
only fifty miles from
feeling good about myself
or having work to do
get up get out
walk and
keep walking
so come summer
I can climb
cold sweat
