They dressed me up in tinsel
and lametta I recall
stood me in a corner
not as a wallflower
I was the belle of the ball
but now my needles shedding
the moment I've been dreading
limp lonely forgotten neglected
not long before I'm ejected
and two weeks later here am I
a sad and sorry sight to behold
enough to make one cry

My little Christmas Tree

My little Christmas Tree, 
Made of artificial ferns and decorative lights, 
It is growing shorter year by year, 
Giving company to my shortening stature. 
 
A ong time ago, putting it up was a pleasure, 
Kids loved the ambiance, expectation of gifts, 
Pictures were taken, lost, and forgotten, 
Only survivor me and my lonely tree.

Every year we question whether
we want to put the Christmas tree up
It's a lot of work for a short time
but the joy we feel at the memories
that the ornaments bring back
is definitely worth the trouble!
