Best Hole Poems
This piece was sparked by an idea in a fellow poet Tom Woody’s’ — “Last Dance Amid the Stars.” I however, followed a very different emotional path — one that avoids finality and leaves room for mystery and one’s own imagination. The story also touches on the true stories of a growing trend with tragic consequences — lives lost in the pursuit of that one perfect selfie in scenic spots. This dangerous craze has already claimed lives. It’s a heartfelt reminder for us all to stay grounded — in every sense of the word.
Lyrics
Into The Black Hole Sun - A Cosmic Ballad of Love, Loss and Illusion
Phone in my left hand,
a metal hook in my right
A Grand Canyon dream
dust in the night
"Just one more selfie,"
her voice still remains
now she’s lying below,
and I’m drowning in blame
Oh, the wind the wind
it whispers her name
echoes of laughter,
lost in the game
We were dancing on Neptune,
chasing the stars
riding Saturn’s rings
like a cosmic guitar
skipping past Earth,
straight to Venus we’d fly
Why'd her wings disappear
as she fell from the sky?
Now I ride the Milky Way,
lost in the haze
coasting astral winds
through Jupiter’s maze
Had a talk with a rover
‘bout faith and decay
But it don’t really matter
she’s too far away
This void, this void
keeps calling me back with
lures of a one-way ticket, that’s a fact
We were dancing on Neptune,
chasing the stars
riding Saturn’s rings
like a cosmic guitar
skipping past Earth,
straight to Venus we’d fly
What made her lose her wings
when she fell from the sky?
One last swig, one last thought
One last look at what I’ve lost
Slowly I fall lost in the haze
into the dark where shadows blaze
Black hole sun, light up the sky
Spinning into stardust,
Where memories lie
Gravity fades, no more pain
Just an endless reunion
Just an endless reunion
In space
The Hole Deep in One’s Own Heart
In moments of greatest loss, sadness and sorrow,
A hole forms so deep within one’s own heart;
There it shall remain so for each ‘n every morrow,
Until life’s end when comes our Heavenly depart!
My dearest, such times of tribulation define us pure,
For we know not all the twists and turns of this life;
We must keep our faith ever true, never it to abjure,
Whilst seeking angelic guidance from this human strife!
As we recommit our true faith in God’s blessings above,
We seek solace in His love that only our souls may find;
With this our passions ‘n emotions form the deepest love,
Giving us His blessing as our souls return His love in kind!
God’s love brings our eternal souls into His Heavenly space,
And makes our injured hearts whole in His Divine embrace!

Now I’m ninety solar masses and I grow as I accrete
all the inter-stellar gasses near my neighbors when we meet.
My doctor says I’ve grown too fat too fast, “… it’s unsustainable!”
But I’ve big plans for a big blast that I know is attainable:
I’ll do the Supernova Bossa Nova, watch me when I blow.
Let’s do the Supernova Bossa Nova and host a cosmic show
for galaxies both near and far, a dazzling dance display,
and I’ll blow a smoke ring where we are here in the Milky Way.
My hydrogen will all convert and soon I will implode,
that's inward, I’m an introvert, but watch my shell explode.
My core will keep on shrinking ‘til a blackhole is created,
a wormhole linking to a world where dance is venerated.
We’ll do the Supernova Bossa Nova, watch me when I blow.
You can blame the Bossa Nova but let’s all enjoy the show!

The astronaut saw the black hole
And suddenly feared for his soul
He chose to die brave
And gave life a wave
And as he went in he cried, “Goal!”
The astronaut clung to his pride
As his atoms were spread far and wide
And he nearly cried
Because as he died
A voice in the dark said, “Off side!”
The distance between us is like a pencil line drawn on a page
like steam in air
like the drop of water that captures in its soul
the light
It is like water in the wash cloth
but also like that one ice cream drip that gets away and falls
Sometimes it is like the cool breeze that flutters the shears in the middle of the night
elusive ...beloved...treasured
like a kiss from the universe itself
it is like the suspended moment...the feeling of our foreheads touching
just before we give in ...to the kiss
You held my hand...listened to my every word
waited years to dance with me...to read to me...to tell me of your injuries
in the rear view mirror we are always surrounded by tiny glittering lights
fairy dust or is it mysticism twilight
our voices are strung up
like streamers across any room we have ever been in together
our foot steps glow and pulse wherever we have passed
the air respectfully swirls around our ghosts
but the distance you ask?
It is 70.1 miles from me to you...a graphite pencil line on a mapquest
but if you reach out you can grasp my hair in your hand and hold my head to yours
through the worm hole in the head of a pen
~
Framed by affections,
unlocked, waiting...
weathered of vibrant
thoughts and dead bolt
delusions
A portal of desperate
desires and relinquished
pain, for the light
through my cracks and crevices
now shines
My heart is hinged…
eternally by brass pins of endless dreams,
tightly fitting into
the perfect grooves of
your love
Twist with simple ease
my handle, dull and waiting
for the sheen of you
ever bright, glowing
to polish me, to make me
new
Open me, swing me freely,
so smoothly I move
allowing the morning breeze to sift
beyond peep hole shadows
creating a passage
so that I may walk so deeply
into you

She's got a big blue hole
In her soul
Where she stores all her tears
And her fears
The place where she goes to
When she's blue
Red hole is for anger
Within her
Where she stores raging ire
Livid fire
When she's mad, she goes there
That's quite rare
There's a black hole within
Makes her spin
Where she stores dark desires
Sin's wildfires
She goes there when she shouldn't
Wish she wouldn't
The white hole is for love
Of God 'bove
Where she stores her heart's dreams
Tender schemes
This is where she's now found
Where she's crowned
This white hole makes her feel
Helps her heal
It grows bigger in size
As she tries
To flush out other holes
From her soul

The Fishing Hole
by Jason Williams
Twenty years is quite a while.
And yet I still reminisce and smile,
thinking of those carefree times,
that we trekked and we climbed,
over fenceposts and through pasture,
to reach the fishing hole.
Oh, how I remember those hikes.
And the glow of the warm sunlight.
The smell of manure and wildflowers,
still shining with dew from the early hours.
Oh, how we’d joke and we’d laugh,
on our way to the fishing hole.
It was at the water’s edge,
where our love we first pledged,
and under pale blue skies,
I looked in your eyes.
And kissed your sweet lips.
Down at the fishing hole.
The fondest memory I can think of,
was out in the open, when we first made love.
On a blanket of grass we watched the sunrise,
and the dancing and buzzing of dragonflies.
They simply didn’t notice, we never caught a thing,
All those times at the fishing hole.

Black Hole Beauty
Stay calm my beating heart for you will enter the vastness of the void
Consumed by a blackened bestial bliss that the demons have deployed
She comes amidst the narcissistic night devouring love like a humanoid
A conqueror of time and space the light before her shall be destroyed
All hale the Queen of darkness a Shiva diva the adumbrative android
In context to the stars mitotic moons hearts of gold in dungeons dwell
Pandemic planets pray to avoid clutches of her sadomasochistic spell
Asteroids display her black heart of doom unleashed from dormant hell
With tentacles wide dominating she breaks through her shattered shell
Her bowing beauty entraps the universe and spews out a nebulous dust
The eclipse of my soul an obsession of obscurity in her crushing of crust
Into the dimness of twilight the shadows like serpents dance in disgust
Once a benevolent beauty now a sanctified seductress seducing surreal
Roaming in dimensional drifts in preparation for her next indulging meal
In her amorant annihilation death is a savior of her effulgent extinction
A terminator of trust all effervescent emotions have been employed
Rambunctious radiation the ringing of her electromagnetic bell
For within a supernova stellar mass lacking in leisured lust
You comply and conform with a begging kneel
Ruler of hearts with infinite infliction.
'...this poem is in reference to people who have had or have and suffer from a narcissistic personality disorder...quite the experience...I wish them all well...'

I am the stillness
beyond a spiral vortex
the eye of the storm
Down the rabbit hole
I fell hard and I went deep
I need to dig out

she tricked him,
she baited her,
her soft steps,
leaving no trail,
when she ran off,
the only thing they saw,
was her,
fuzzy bunny tail,
her intentions were hidden,
a clever disguise,
masked beneath,
her evil human eyes,
she was determined,
to take them all,
the big ones,
but especially the small,
after all, who could argue,
when the bunny wiggled her nose,
a carrot for them,
hidden beneath her clothes,
mesmerized and unaware,
sisters and brothers,
she didn't care,
all caught in her bunny lair,
her cute disguise,
surrounded her designs,
spoiling them,
she hid maggots and flies,
hopping away,
claiming no such tale,
the bunny thinks,
she covered her trail,
but children grow up,
no longer believing,
in fairy tales so ugly,
or a sister so deceiving.

Blue Hole
There is a blue hole where my heart is
It's been blue since the day love parted
I don't know why it did
The reason is kept hid
And here I am sat broken hearted.
It could have been something that I said
The thoughts keep racing round in my head
I said "get going Jeff"
That's the moment he left
And I can't see why he got upset.
Perhaps it was he misunderstood
When my intentions were just for good
Was being romantic
Got Jeff feeling frantic
And running off as fast as he could.
Or did Jeff think that I meant ‘get lost’
I didn't mean that, I say with heart crossed
I wish I could see him
Though the chances are slim
The flame once red hot has turned to frost.
