Author’s Notes: “The Hole in One's Own Heart” is a Shakespearean Sonnet that I finished on November 11, 2017. I approached this particular theme from a more traditional poetic standpoint, which should be evident from way in which I crafted its particular message and constructed the three stanzas and the closing couplet. My takeaway from this sonnet highlights the essential importance of God's love in our mortal world, and its continued maturation as our souls one day make their final journey into His Divine embrace.
