Best Envy Poems
Envious Ivy was her name
I’d buy something new – she’d put me to shame
My designer coat in a shade of emerald green
Ivy bought an identical one just to be mean
She was the most terrible copycat
See your purchase and say ‘oh I fancy one like that’
If I got a new car you could guarantee
Ivy would get the same just to copy me
She was like a shadow that just wouldn’t leave
If I had a great idea then Ivy would thieve
The copying went on for many many years
I got so fed up with it I'd end up in tears
Imitation is said to be a great form of flattery
Ivy was so jealous she should have lived in a cattery
I recently heard that Ivy had passed away
Do I have plans to copy her … NO WAY!

Lapis lazuli mines with wide blue eyes
bringing to mind precious stones and
caramel scones; innocent and wise -
Wondering, yet without surprise.
Staring down the universe, a challenge
in your look though you are young;
The earth made only nine revolutions
since you came out to see the sun.
Unguarded and arched, your brows
betray high wire tension; enough
to light up a hundred moons and warm
plump cheeks to cherry bubble gum.
Be not impatient to grow; you smell
of open grasshopper meadows
and firefly lighted lakeshore walks.
You’re a mother’s envy and pride.
Red lips! Your passion for life exists.
Scarlet, lipstick would be a surfeit -
Today as then till many summer’s been,
your spirit will always be free as the mist.

I envy~
champagne stars,
sparkling gold.
Cascading as
Cupid's arrow,
to steal quartz rays,
of the rose moon.
Like love-struck eyes in~
awe of Lunar wings,
unaware of how,
you mirror my soul;
cosmically tied.
Siphoned light gropes passengers
Hopeful for luminescent hearts,
Arching underneath bombazine drapes
Dusted with passionate legacies
Of original sin and the primogeniture son,
Wicked for nighttime plots savouring
Spicy love, exponential in a vivid darkness.
I have come here to confess my deepest shame
Your wit, I admit, I more than admire-
It wakes me, it shakes, me, sets my brain on fire
I long to claim your fame, under my name
Your indelible intricacy I yearn to master
I strive for your heights in increasing pain
But all futile, this folly of inferior gain
No matter how fast I write, you write faster
Now you skip away as I struggle for breath
My purse is empty; you haven't spent a penny
Where is the end of this contemptible envy?
When my best is bested - what is left?

NOT for 'Seven Deadly Sins' contest.
you see me a monster
an angel in disgrace
for I plucked my wings out
just to honor the human race
inconspicuous yet dark
a disciple with a mark
all they do is lie and swear
they are always unprepared
for free will might be your gift
but their hearts are all adrift
I'm ashamed of what I've done
I can't be like everyone
all these mortal emotions
deny me of your devotion
how can an angel be so void
when human emotions they avoid
they are right, we are wrong
God have mercy on their Souls
Have I jealousy of my dear mate?
I don’t think I have any, but wait!
I sure wish I could pee
in the wood near a tree
like my husband does, standing up straight!

Had my hair color treated
To surprise the wedding guests
Shock came at the rehearsal
Groom wanted to leave
His once-blonde bride had green curls
She’d been hoping for brunette
Oh, how the bridesmaids chuckled
Wig worn at wedding
Sadly, a true story.
ENVY
(Words inspired by Casarah)
Our faces are turned toward Bangkok
That buzzing hive of humanity
Where folk brush against each other
As they twirl and dance
In an effort to maintain direction
Not that we were going to Bangkok
Not that we were currently going anywhere
We sit defeated
Restraining our combustion engine horses
Their promise fuelled motors straining
Wanting to accelerate into freedom
A few fleeting moments
Before being reined in again
By the brakes
Unlike those in the north bound lanes
Unlike those with a clear path before them
Piloting their roaring beasts
Who revel in their delight
Eating up empty kilos of asphalt
In their haste toward a distant destination
A cosy castle or a sweet vacation
When youth in full bloom
during Spring's green boom
See a robin fly by
or geese in the sky
Do not feel impressed
by Spring's new green dress
Thoughts all aflutter
tongues twist and mutter
When pretty young girls
with green bows and curls
Skip by with their friends
chit chat without end
Spring's green with envy
can't feel the frenzy
She plunks herself down
a sullen green frown
Soon clouds fill the sky
big tears fall from high
People just scatter
What is the matter?
Dear Spring takes a look
at the smiles she took
Demeanour improved
Her Green-ness is soothed.

I want to share a bit of info I think everyone should know.
It may make life a little easier as through life you go.
People come equipped with a number of traits, good and bad;
With some that will delight you and some will make you mad.
The two traits here I mention are unpleasant to come across
And they can leave you frustrated, your temper up for toss.
But if you'll just step back and breathe a minute, maybe two,
Your composure you will gain back by following this clue.
Other people are never jealous of your negativity;
They are only jealous of you for your 'quality'!
Others do not envy what 'you' have 'not';
They envy what you 'have' that 'they' haven't got!
Jealousy and envy are nothing more than 'inverted' admiration;
Do yourself a favour, turn 'em around, and feel the liberation!
Accept these traits as compliments, for in essence it is true,
And by graciously accepting, they'll have more to envy you!
If you always keep this in mind, yourself, you will spare
Any grief or anguish you may feel when either's in the air.
Though jealousy and envy are projected with much ill intent,
If you receive them as blessings, you'll wisely circumvent.
But if you're on the other side and you're the one doling out
This jealousy and envy, remember to what you're giving clout.
If you're envious and jealous, you're harbouring admiration,
Like the negative of a picture, undeveloped captivation.
Oftentimes in life it's easier if we cultivate an objective
To seek a different, better way and change our perspective.
Whenever we can change the negative, give it a positive spin,
We reap the benefits of and the reward is then, a win.

Her radiant beauty crested, wave ebbing,
summer shakes her flowing green free of cooling rains;
yet, stubbornly they linger, gathering
in misty gray garlands about her peaks.
Decay's first browns creep among the flowers,
drab omens of pallid landscapes soon to come.
Vain summer! Water mirrors she left scattered
reflect from every concave surface of the ground.
Fearful of the season's ending glory,
she reaches for a gown only a queen could wear--
parading field and forest in cascading folds of crimson velvet.
Brilliant oranges, scarlet, gold weave her leafing harvest crown;
Her saffron slippered feet trip down a path of aging green.
Even the moon grows large with October envy,
but he cannot out do her flamboyant display;
his grand act only lasts a moment
compared to summer's pretentious autumnal show.
She hangs on, only brown remaining,
wringing out every vestige of our praise...
until winter comes, ice bragging, to steal the last away.

A blue lobster was saved at Red Lobster today
From the usual fate of lobster ways.
The zookeepers came and took her to the zoo
Where everyone said, “Look she’s blue”.
The other lobsters complained,
"We’re all red-we’re all the same."
And one by one, they ended up on plate
As the dinner a hungry customer ate.
So next time you feel overlooked,
Be thankful that you weren’t cooked!
To get attention, you now know what to do,
Simply dress in something blue.
Long was my time of proudly witnessing her endless charms
ability to seed smiles and respect with Southern wiles aplenty.
Then, intrusion of quick insist, in shadowed shift, gave glimpse
of her facial expression failing her known impression and lilt.
Flash lit sad scripts and ego drips, pained my daughter pity adrift.
Each year since, our shared authentic love became more ripped as
she brazenly exposed self-loathing, clothed in superior mode and
attitude maintained by pathetic tries to admire herself in other’s eyes.

Run my beautiful one,
Run!
Have you not heard?
(Jealousy raped Vanity)
Their child
That child Envy!
She searches for you
