A clever young crow from Belize
Collected old buttons with ease.
It hoarded its stash
In a bucket of trash,
And sold them for shiny gold cheese.
How many women here
have been impregnated
by Elon Musk? looking for hands
He plans to repopulate the planet
single handedly - well, not handed
exactly - you know what I mean.
In Australia, great swaths of Texas,
and of course Mar-a-Lago, he’s a serial offender,
because his sperm is legal tender.
Factoid: you might catch a disease,
he’s sleeping with everyone north of Belize
and several of them, frankly, look sleazy.
Of course, you’d have to listen to him talk. shivers
Unless you say, “Hey, can we do this without conversation?”
That’s when you’d slip on your sleep mask, and, well, you know.
But what would you be thinking about?

FUN! by KiNG MALA [E]
BLOODONTHETIMBS by Bren Joy [E]
Michelle has been a great friend
Since I moved to NYC
There's been domestic violence in my life
From people that for some reason want to hurt me
We haven't been able to get together
Because there is always someone following me
And I always tell her I want to leave NYC
But apart from that
Michelle is from Belize and makes really great jerk chicken
She's really pretty and petite and I admire her beauty
I hope Michelle is doing ok
And that she will always be happy
Hopefully she's still cooking up a storm
And isn't like me, feeling downhearted and crappy
Met her out in Costa Rica that summer
we were on the streets on Liberia when it hit me
crossed by an old casino long since burned out
forgotten
that’s when you looked at me
ever since then
and since that time down south
I wondered what you meant
back there
never questioined though
these things being the way
they always are
the timing wasn’t right
but it was more than just that
wasn’t it?
Took horses into the mountains
past ravines
groves with mangos not quite ripe
past howling monkeys
and up to the ridge
I could see you
Either way, whatever it was shattered in Cay Caulker
nothing good ever lasts
not in Belize anyway
all rounded down and divided in half
leaning on the collossus to keep itself afloat
you were there
and when I saw your smile
Got up and left my drink at the bar
didn’t want to start trouble with the guy
you came in with
A pirate sailed the high seas
Robbing and killing throughout
The Markees
He even stopped to the Island of Belize
And tried to destroy, their armies
But that army did fight back
Knocking his ship out of Wack
The pirate went down singing a song
Never admitting that he was wrong
I'm going home to
Belize of my birth
Beat the drums
My fathers fashioned
Honk the horns
My brothers firmly hold
Strike up the band,
All a we da one.
I am home!
Not alone
You, me, everybody,
We make up this land
Generations strong
By the almighty sea,
East of our Belize.

She sensibly shells purple peas
To fill the bowl between her knees.
She longs to flee the filth and sleaze,
And dreams of breezes in Belize.
My friend, write what you know about first-hand
An exciting experience, an unforgettable moment,
Your adventurous trip with your high school band
When you didn’t get back your last dollar you lent,
How you felt running your toes through the sand.
Tell us what you imagined as you dozed off to sleep
About the time you took your first motorcycle ride,
Your experience in beautiful Belize probing the deep
How you felt when you learned a good friend died,
A time when a haunting story made your skin creep.
Don’t forget to explore fantasy and wild imagining
Anything that you can describe and make me feel,
What you thought looking at an ad in a magazine
Your emotions are fodder for an interesting spiel,
We might enjoy thoughts on your first tangerine!
The sky is the limit for subjects you might explore
And, speaking of the sky, clouds are rich material
Importantly, make us want to return for more
Write, write, write – write a never-ending serial
Be interesting; most of all, avoid being a bore.

Your country against my country
Why are you guys trying to break the county?
With markers already placed at the borders
Yet you try and claim what is ours.
You are not satisfied with your own
That you avoid what is known
You got yours; we got ours
So leave us be, or we'll be here for hours
We're all here to fight.
And we're all here to protect
What since time rightfully belongs to us
What else did you expect?
From Belizeans who will always protect
The land we call home, this you must respect.
Belize is our country that we'll forever defend
So don't be surprised if our fight never ends
Old red plaid shirt blew off the line with ease.
One July day with a gentle breeze,
Farmer’s wife came out to peek into old deep freeze.
She was now standing in meat up to her knees.
Old farmer came out and asked with “please”…
Can you find my shirt up in the trees?
The wife stopped smiling. There were no tee-hees.
She began to hunt for shirt in their Humvees.
Farmer went inside to pay their state fair fees.
Opportunity to upgrade tickets, he did seize.
He loved the Iowa state fair in all degrees.
Wife asked everyone with heartfelt pleas,
“Have you seen a red plaid shirt taken by a breeze?”
A few neighbors did aptly tease.
Saw it go north, said old Mr. McFees.
I am sure it is in Belize, another decrees.
One thing for sure, that plaid shirt was gone in the breeze….
You, too, would find solace, by
The Caribbean Sea, in Belize of my birth
The Sea owns portion of my heart
It connects me to Atlantic's mighty waves, and
Neon lights of Africa.
In backyard of America,
I've basked in virgin air, and
Climbed summit of Xunantunich, and
Heard of civilization toppled by man, and
Read of Port and slave ships;
And God's green earth of sustenance, and of
Hand washing hand... but
In pool of many colors,
As vast as salts and Sea
The smell of hate's elasticity,
Sits in proximity to you and me.
To plant seeds of forbidden hate
As part of earth's abundance,
What power? What glory? What victory?
*
Funny how faith found me, when you said you'd send for me
Abundance, I heard, abound in the United States of America
Travel was in my blood; warmed my heart that you filed for me
Humbly I waited my Quota at the U.S. Embassy in Belize, British Honduras
Eagerly you awaited my arrival
Reaching you, my life began anew with stern and lenient caring
Safe and secured, I was proud owner of a Green card.
Dad, I remembered you renovating our home before the hurricane season
America saw you laboring as Construction worker and Carpenter
Yes, you worked, womanized, and drank to life.

(Every man wishes to be understood with pardon and compassion.)
At the corner of King and Far West Street
A newly arrived German family
They'd given birth to one
We were twelve or thereabout
I saw her in twilight of Hit Parade on radio Belize
I'd just walked barefoot from my yard
Never made it to Jim, the grocer next door.
I was face to face with newness of life
Eyes like a pussy cat, she pulled me
Half devoured me with her embrace
She squeezed as if to savor joy
I was pissed she dared to seize me
Caught me off guard
I smelled the smell of evening rose, but
Could not chase the fog that vied for her warmth
I knew not the color of friendship
Dark chocolate, white hands
Blues by the Caribbean Sea.

The disappearance
The Gulf of Mexico suddenly ran into the Atlantic
left oil rigs high and dry.
Naturally, the USA claimed the land which was disputed
by Mexico and Cuba and Belize.
What was left of the gulf had rivers and lakes
and as the land greened it turned out to be fertile and
the Amish people encouraged to farm the land which they
did with earnest enthusiasm.
Village sprang up, roads were built, and the famous
veterinarian Jan Pol opened up his practice as well.
As years went by, people forgot that they were farming
on what has been the bottom of a sea.
The sea had not forgotten.
Slowly seeping in and those who had built luxury houses
were the first to leave, but the fishery thrived and
the shrimp business had a revival.
There was a mass exodus, and the Amish people went
back farming the land they knew.
When the water had claimed, all of the gulf and people
forgetting. There was only Wikipedia left to give
a brief outline of the past.
I would like my own sedan chair please
I would take it with me to Belize
But if they get sick
My pole man named Nick
Could be a bumpy ride if they sneeze.
