Isn’t that you smiling from your abyss
Devoid of anything found and missed
Caught in the middle to lose at both sides
Watcher of time with its high and low tides
Doer of nothing and listener of rain
Living through ages you dared to attain
There you sit in your saggy armchair
There you think of what nobody cares
Anyone who is alive seems fed up
Those who are dead never drank from your cup..
he meditated and prayed for harmony and peace
for justice and fairness to take their course
and quite naturally he still thought he knew for himself
what those concepts would mean and should yield
he had no choice in the matter however
so he let go surrendered and handed everything over
to his Higher Power who had brought them so far
had delivered exquisite happiness and ultimate joy
but also an unpalatable separation from his lover and wife
at the end of the dialogue he asked what God wanted him to do now
and the answer came promptly ‘continue on praying’
he saw intense lights and experienced some moderate fireworks
half pictures and faint images came to his mind
Munch’s Scream turned into Gaugin’s exotic beauties
as he began to sit in an armchair and read
the only comfy one that he owns is the one his soul mate had given him
which in his mind he had already disposed at charity for good
maybe he will keep it now as a gesture of the harmony he is seeking
busybodies might help catch criminals
if they write down every type of car and license plate
parked on their block and the blocks around their blocks
it would be helpful too if they jotted down the drivers descriptions
they could then be elevated from arm chair detectives….
to real detectives.
I would be the first in line
if I had any neighbors
which I do not.
None close anyway
Armchair politicians always provoke a laugh
Spouting what they would do if they could,
I’m supposing they’d never make a bad gaffe
The world would go as they think it should.
They have the answer to every bad situation
Many years of practicing amateur diplomacy,
Interestingly, they have little valid information
Yet, are sure they could make better history.
I tend to leave affairs in the hands of experts
Who have the real scoop and lots of advising,
Day by day handling things, not in little spurts
Not on questionable rumors plans devising.
This isn’t to say I believe they’re never wrong
But admitting they know far better than me,
I hum tunes, but they know lyrics to the song
So, as best as I can, I avoid criticizing, you see.

I ran the 10K marathon.
At once I knew I’d chosen wrong.
My heart and lungs on fire,
I thought I might expire.
Next time I’ll safely watch from home.

I am an armchair detective
An armchair forensic anthropologist
An armchair criminal investigator
I solve every case; and quickly.
I am an armchair forensic pathologist.
An arm chair blood spatter analytic technician.
I solve murder after murder
On a daily basis.
Sometimes if we are careful,
Putting thought into how,
And where we position our armchairs,
We can see more than if we
Were actually present when the event took place.
The trouble is most of us fear ridicule,
And never tell anyone what we have seen,
While sitting in our armchair,
And most now position their chair,
In front of the TV or computer.
And those who may once have told someone,
Now prefer lying on a couch,
Which makes it hard for them,
To see anything more than a bowl of potato chips.
He wraps his arms around me
Holding me close,
Making me feel comforted,
Comfortable,
Soothed and reassured,
Supported by his strong arms

Armchair Quarterback
Television is his game
Tons of snacks and beer
He always calls the right plays
If they'd listen, they would win!

(Warning) You need to watch english daytime t.v to really get the drift.............
Another day breaks, I open my eyes
It’s still rather early but I feel I must rise
Into the bathroom a little unsteady
I’m sure I’ll come round as I’m getting ready.
Out the window I sit and stare
A cup of tea and in my chair.
The day won’t seem quite so long
If I sit and watch the birds in song.
The TV’s on - nothing new
I’ll think I make another brew
Another poor soul through the ringer
That’s what you get with Gerry Springer!
I turn it over with a smile
Just in time for Jeremy Kyle!
The days long gone when I went “gyming”
Now I sit and watch Loose Women!
This afternoon its Noel’s best deals
But now its time for meals on wheels!
Frozen peas and a slice of ham
I suppose it’s better than war-time spam!
What’s for pudding? Spotted Dick?
I like my custard nice and thick
A little nap is what I need
To bring me right back up to speed.
It’s Bargain Hunt’s auction sale
Can’t wait for seven and Emmerdale!
Some mail to write with ink and pen
Then off to bed with News at Ten!
