All Told Poems

Where Are You?

When they all told me that day
"You won't see him tomorrow,
he left home and went astray"
I was overcome with sorrow.

Something should have been done,
To keep him from falling into that pit
But no one helped their loved one
All they did was be ignorant and sit.

Where are you? Where have you gone?
My search for you begins each dawn,
It concerns me, your disappearance,
I will search for you with perseverance.

I wish I could have visited him,
Held his hand like a string to a kite
Even stayed after the sun set, after dusk
And talked with him all through the night.

I would have spoken or sent words of comfort
To give him some hope and to soothe his hurt,
But he never told me what he was going through,
All his secret struggles, I did not have a clue.

Where are you? Where have you gone?
My search for you begins each dawn,
It concerns me, your disappearance,
I will search for you with perseverance.

We were all told that this day was coming,
when we'd no longer hear the bees a-humming,
when we could no longer trust that the fields
would ever again produce their requisite yields.
But who had expected it to be this soon
before the promised second coming?

Premium MemberPolar Bear Tale

Polar bear chased Joe into a cave
Already there was a princess and knave
They waited until the big gal went to sleep
Then stealthily stole away with nary a peep

polar bear here
polar bear there
she gave us a scare,
she gave us a scare

Polar bear slumbered cozily away
As they climbed out of her cave that day
Hibernating now, the three told all who would listen
Staying away from that frozen cave that gave a glisten

polar bear here
polar bear there
she gave us a scare,
she gave us a scare

Feeling lucky they had survived the bear’s hungry ways
They all told the story from then until the end of their days
A princess, knave, and a regular guy named Joe.
Who still tell the tale down in Kokomo.

polar bear here
polar bear there
she gave us a scare,
she gave us a scare

JAM CAM

JAM CAM

I’m sitting here still and aloof
Held up in traffic of a morning
We are all told to stay in lane
And who are we to complain
But cutting in without warning
The blue light goes on the roof

Pairing knives peppered the garden growing by the river.
Eerie sounds slid sideways into the lowering light.
Alfy and Alice were still out cavorting beyond the barn.
Children in dusty blue dresses yawned on the paint-chipped deck.
Ernie and Emmett kept to tussling along the riverbed,
Something about some girl they both shined over.
Papa didn't budge over it with a freshly lit pipe in his slow rocker.
Even with the yellin' and cussin' and grabbin' gettin' hotter and rougher.
All told I'd reckon this was their 10th row since I moved back to the farm.
Knowing their love of escalation they were bound to spot one of the knives.
Estuary frogs croaked through the purple summer sky when I pounced,
Running thru the squeaky screen door for silhouetted shivs dancing riverside.

Premium MemberWe Believe in Diverse

We believe in diverse in our universe
Our government’s a meritocracy in reverse

Red folks, brown folks, yellow and green
    Indigenous Indians, Asians, Orientals, ‘Mar-sheens’

So despite constant breakdowns in communication
Multicolor anger and fury benefits all nations…

  We also support workplace equity
All employee reviews must be ‘A’ or ‘B’

And of course there’s inclusion, finally
For violent ex-felons we bend the knee

All told, with our universe we’ve given birth
~ to a bigger mess than Planet Earth

Until then

Lord forgive me for all that I've done.I miss my daddy.Honestly never thought I'd feel so differently without him here.I love you Daddy and you too Uncle David I miss you both. Its a evil old world. Knowing that you are in a Land of peace and happiness and no pain walking streets of gold bring my soul a little peace Uncle Henry he's such a strong man. We'll take each precious moment we have with him as long as the Lord will let us.I'm sorry for leaving that night daddy, sorry for driving over you uncle David on the way to town yesterday.Sorry for not being the person that I should be.I wish I was a better mother and my grand baby we're running all around playing. Not dreading to answer the phone cause you never know what might be said Drama and heartache mostly when I get to see them again whenever that day comes so until,I'm here Losing myself once again. If it's pretty up there in heaven and they're all told tell let them all know I said hi I love them I'll see them too someday. Until then I'm still here..

Simple Song

Simple song
By Michelle Morris
09/11/2020

You remind me of everything that's amazing in this world,
And I can't stop thinking about you and everything you do;
And I know that you love me in all the ways you are,
So thank you for being you and all the kindness you have shown...
Oh-oh...

Chorus
My words are simple and my thoughts are pure,
I love you always and will forever more,
And no matter what happens or wherever we are,
This remains a simple song, binding our love for all time...
(end chorus)

Our time together is the best I've ever known,
And it's been a lifetime of blessings in our home,
We've known each other for forever and a day,
And we tell each other everything,
We love and work and play...
Oh-oh...

Chorus

Please know that I appreciate everything we have and will always feel blessed to have such joy and happiness;
You make a difference to my life and the world,
And everyone knows you're an upstanding guy all told...
Oh-oh-oh... Oh-oh-oh...

Chorus

Yes, my words are simple but the meaning is deep and pure...
I love you forever and in my soul you are heard...

Prophesy
by Bob Moore ©13 Jan 2022

Went shopping this morning
‘cause you never know
with Covid around
when you can finally go

The shelves may be empty
there’s nothing to buy
no bread and no milk
no frozen meat pie

The news had all told us
this would happen you know
so everyone panicked
and to the shops they did go

Self-fulfilling prophesy
caused by the news
came true in an instant
as panic ensued

Now they say “we were right”
and “we told you so”
we said this would happen
to the shops you did go

Bought stuff you did not need
but “just in case”
now it sits in your cupboard
just taking up space.

An Advent For My Father

I expected it with you, because you were suffering
I didn’t want it but it seemed a mercy
Of sorts

But now, when she wants to join you, to stop
The suffering, the confusion,the helplessness
The separation from you, two sons, and her God

Everything you all told me seems true
Just harder, lonelier, and now
I’m the adult, the father, the husband

The weddings you’ll miss, the growing old
Not knowing your grandsons
But what is good with and without you

Is because of you, the love you gave
There is a husband, a son, and more of us
In you, with you and waiting

A son lost on Christmas, six without you now
and a wife trapped in a mind betraying her before
Death, eternity, a slow wait

You taught me not to quit, to struggle with doubt
You never gave an easy way out
Hard on the child, kind to the man

I don’t want you back, I will miss mom
But I want her with you, and my brothers
Make a place ready, but don’t rush I’ll be awhile

Premium MemberBlood Donor

Heat index here of 105,
but I can say that I'm alive.
When starting on the concrete pour,
the sun was barely out the door.
I finished shortly after noon;
believe me, that was none too soon.
All told, I mixed 28 bags;
my clothing looks like dirty rags.
My setup: mostly in the shade;
by 10 am, that luck had played.
The hardest part, to my surprise:
was all the blood-sucking deer flies.
They must have gotten out the word.
A bit down till a thought occurred:
because they sucked me like a prune,
I shouldn't have to donate soon.

Go Fishing

Fishing

There is no peace to equal that,
of fishing by a Lake,
or a stream, or river broad,
or pond within a wood,

If worries you would cast away,
Take a fishing break,
Nature, is the balm that Soothes,
The restless soul for good.

I remember, one idyllic,
sunny day in spring,
Rising early, well before,
dawns tentative groping light.

Arriving at the lake to hear,
a far off robin, sing,
A ripple from a rising fish,
all added to the sight.

To angle for your supper,
Is reward enough, it's true,
But that day, was a record day,
eleven trout all told.

It fed the family well,
perhaps a week or two,
But memories of that treasured day,
is what inside, we hold.

However if excitement
is what your craving for,
Fishing in a little boat,
upon a rolling sea.

Buffeted by waves and wind,
not too far from the shore,
Satisfies the need inside
and makes our souls run free.

Fighting fish and nature,
whatever form, you choose,
Fresh water or the salty brine,
The outcome is the same,

Catching cod and mackerel,
you later have for tea,
Is wonderful, I promise you,
And part of life's rich game.
