I got used to everyday feeling good
I ran out of words in my book
Then the book started to burn
And new pages started to turn
Scrambling, I tried to reverse
But I couldn't stop the adverse
Days turned into night
No sun was insight
My chest felt tight again
Just when my pain was at an end
Life takes a different trend
I am calmly motivated
through adversity ,
with a holistic salvation
we are never undeserving ;
always be the headway
from afterworld .

Adversity rarely enters a life with a Trumpet
It doesn't come loud
It doesn't come bold
It doesn't come systemically
With brass horns ablaze
Like some headlines twinkling.
Nah- Adversity is crafty
It slides in sideways, quiet as a hum
With the nerve to reposition your peace
Without clearance.
It tests your patience, lugs at the rim of
Your faith, tries to see if your backbone is
Made of loaned strength. Or the kind you
Bootleg in the dark.
When nobody was clapping
But you-
You rise like your spirit has muscle hindsight.
You rise like the storm forgot who it was
Rustling with.
Adversity comes unannounced, but you answer
The door with a steady glare, a steady breath,
A steady validity.
You are not easily moved
You are not easily shattered
You are not easily incomplete
And every quiet clash becomes another loud
Achievement in the story you're still writing
Penmanship
again unsweet is
detested adversity
frenetic and fanged!
we are the undeserving
calmly vanquish these I will.

Prayer Against Adversity
Oh Father God, deliver us from adversity
May we attain our glorious victory
Oh Lord Jesus, save us who are like Job
Grant us salvation from those who seek to rob
Oh Holy Spirit, rescue us from humiliating downfall
Be our hope & strength once and for all
This we ask in our Almighty God. Amen!

*Gideons Prayer Poems Against Life's Problems
First, they sent the dogs
And it became a dog’s toilet,
So, we moved to more remote areas.
Then they burnt the restaurant
So, we carried our own water and fruit
To the fringes of the liveable sands.
So as not to dry out like desert dates
We became slimmer and saved money.
Then they closed the parking lot
So, we walked miles on foot
We got fitter and saw more of nature.
What we saw became more beautiful
With each countering passage
For those of us who persevered.
Now there is hardly a soul left,
But those who are, are strong and fit.
Dune flowers are blooming again
Without the constant threat of trampling feet
And everywhere you can hear the rhythm of the sea,
White waves breaking and reforming refrains
Without the cries and shrieks of spoiled children
Or the barking of undisciplined domestic beasts.
We felt how beautiful everything is
Sub-human, man absent from God’s creation.
And even his attempts of countering and ruin
Were turned into creative and regenerative forces
Within us now greater love’s awareness courses.
When I began the journey, fifty odd years ago
to become a parent
There were no books or journals then
to guide this experiment
It's mostly based on mentorship
each of us has gained
Often full of potholes
mistakes we have obtained
So when I look in hindsight
not having skills required
Had parenting been my full time job
I would surely have been fired
But life provides us
with a chance to make amends
To bless with love my children
and treat them as my friends
There is no doubt challenges
existing on the way
Some families face adversity
every single day
Sometimes it seems
that life is back to front
The wisdom that we need when young
arrives when ageing fills our wont
To be a grandparent prior to parenting
would elicit a necessary skill
To raise five children, share more prudence
to a loving life, which they can then fulfil
When they cried for touches,
When she loved mocking the noises,
When he acted like he didn't care,
He made a false claim with an extravagant dare...
Time is too precious to waste.
The setting is perfect for achieving nothing but salvation.
"Time is nothing but an illusion," he says!
And counsels her on how to get her to flee,
As all things have parted ways.
The guy is so blessed with opportunities.
The guy doesn't care about anything but the girl's salvation.
Sometimes it's too hard to hold someone,
And sometimes, the rescue turns into a blessing!
The storms don't care about the man or the woman,
They often visit their possessions,
But they never wanted the storms,
Yet that causes redemption...
Freedom brings illusions along with liberties,
And nothing is freer than a bird without a cage,
Who wants to be caged by her true intent!
Top and middle
The milie in a mind
Versus the mile on a day
A born catastrophe must? End
Beginning from only clothes on your body
Obstruction exists
A commodity may not be created for you
You must provide shelter and civilization
Alone
'Sweet are the uses
of adversity,
as the heart grows fonder
by diversity,'
as, hoping to raise a smile,
yet nutty as a fruitcake,
I spoke none too fast
at someone fun to poke
but slow on the uptake,
as tho' it takes quite a while,
he who laughs last,
finally gets the joke.
Without my scars
I wouldn't be who I am today
I'm branded to live a prodigy
I look strong
I was built by fragile moments...
Without my bruises
I wouldn't have known
What healing feels like
I had to break to mend
I earned my knowledge
Through a remake
Of my broken pieces.
I was purified through storms...
Call me a woman
A human raised by inhumane
And favored by brutal circumstances
I was circumcised by pain
I bled and earned my wisdom
Through lightning brought by
Forces of nature.
The world doesn't care
When adversity dictates
It doesn't show up
It lets nature be at play
While i was a chess game
A queen at her moves.
I bled to earn my throne,
My title and my crown
Of Queenship
To be black
Is to live life freely
Despite being trapped in a cage without a key
Ignoring the hate from society
As their bodies radiate envy
Trying to destroy our joy through spreading negativity
And taking our lives violently
To be black Is to smile in the face of adversity
To be black
Is to find beauty in the aftermath of war
And find a singular flower thriving in the trenches
To be able to see life even when faced with death
Because being black automatically means that we all face loss even when it's not ours
But it's a collective loss that comes with the black experience
To be black
Is to have the ability to come together as a community when something bad happens
Whilst others are divided by the pain they experience
To be black Is to lead with your mind whilst being supported by the heart
It's the ability to have the strength to face pain
Whilst simultaneously fueling that strength with the pain they've had to endure
To be black Is to have the whole world against you
And not only survive
But thrive
though winds hurl
with all their might
they cannot break me
AP: Honorable Mention 2025
Be true to yourself
In joy and sorrow
For only you know
What you feel
Even if not why
So stand tall, head high
And remember to breathe
Free and easy
No matter what others
May think or say
Friend or foe
For they never know
What is both
In your heart and head
As the wind blows
Sun shines
Clouds form
And rain falls
Don’t forget who you are
And that it all depends
On a single breath…
(4/24/25)
Lone, tall, verdant wobbling leaf
Strong autumn gales come
Immovable, unbending
