Premium Member Happy Memorial Day

Happy Memorial day

Sitting where he one time stood
never one time trying to brag.
He chokes on his own teardrops
as he salutes the American flag.

Recalling brothers that have died
that stood by him in war.
Brothers in adversity
that don't come home no more.

He blinks to fight the memories
that are flashing through his mind.
Just like in his dreams at night
like a movie on rewind.

He can hear grenades exploding
he can hear the brave men cry.
He still hears the prayers they prayed
as they prepared to die.

With visions of the blood soaked ground
the world will never know.
All the horrors he has seen
as his tears start to flow.

Just beyond the flag he sees
children playing in a park.
People sitting home tonight
will walk the streets at dark.

Without a single thought in mind
of things that used to be.
And those now buried in the ground
so others could be free.

He turns his wheelchair in the grass
and starts to roll away.
And whispers quietly to his friends
Happy Memorial day.

Premium Member Empty Walls

We paved roads
By walls
Such empty walls
Humanity goes out
Inhumanity breeds

A starving mother
A lost wedding ring
Beneath a wrestling ring
Of the mind

We paved roads
By walls
Such empty walls
Humanity goes out
Inhumanity breeds

Taunt the trends
With lost and silly grins
A party hat
Covered in confetti smiles
A wicked motive
Hidden in shadow

Party time in America
Throw your voice in a hat
Shake it all around
Like vomit
Get back to square one

We paved roads
By walls
Such empty walls
Humanity goes out
Inhumanity breeds

Apocalypse looms
Hidden dangers in diversity
Sell a song to the ambidextrous
We're leaving out to come back in

We paved roads
By walls
Such empty walls
Humanity goes out
Inhumanity breeds

Settle the score with your neighbor
Remembering when he scored on your wife
The strife was clearly worth a life
Or perhaps two when you take your own
Family fabrics sewn together by adversity
And the hidden dangers in diversity
Another soul lost to this cursed city

Taunt the trends
We paved roads
Party time in America
By walls
A starving mother
Such empty walls
Get back to square one

Premium Member Love's Chemical Derivatives

Can love then, be based
on an index of elements
from which one joyfully tumbles,
or drifts into equations, as we wander
toward a rush of serendipity ...
a metaphysical merging of ardor
writhing in a shared communion
like tuneful whispers in breaths of helium,
unabbreviated oxygen rhapsodies
from unbidden laughter,
invigorating the warmth of co-owned stars
on heaven’s destined oracle?

Love transcends chemical derivatives
of fractals or measurement,
between our atoms, relaxed
in the shuffle of emotional electrons
as we quiver weightless...
the heart’s embrace suspended together
in the affectionate cosmos
of a deep kiss.

~ It was a challenge for me to translate in meaningful ways
this abstract concept, 'physics of love,' but somehow
made sense of it by affirming that such is beyond mere science.

Premium Member HOW DOES LOVE DIE

If it is not watered with love passion, responsibility,
Humor, sensuality, fun, trust, respect and loyalty,
Petal by petal, and leaf by leaf it is bound to die,
Too late, too late to cry.

Treasure each other, as you would a vintage wine,
Chill out, enjoy a romantic restaurant and dine,
Hold hands and look into each other’s eyes,
In summer, choose a table under star studded skies.

Respect is an absolute dire necessity,
Learn together to face life with its every adversity,
And disagree maybe but talk everything through,
And count your blessings that are far more than few.

Never go to bed angry with each other,
This is your husband or wife, your lifetime lover,
For you will wake up in the same frame of mind,
And perhaps this is not being understanding or kind.

Be proud of your partner you vowed to love forever,
Let no one come between you, make life an adventure,
Say ‘I love you' at least three times in a day,
Have no secrets, life will be happy in every possible way.

The Blinding Eye Of Desire

We begin at a breakneck speed and a

                              hectic pace

Toward the finish line yearning to win

                              each pivotal race

                              Ambitions could prevail over adversity

                              beneath skies or beyond

Yet urging fate to hand the prize is like

mining gold from a grain of sand

Premium Member THIS IS HOW I DEAL WITH ADVERSITY-

You bring peace to me
In me you bring peace
So sweet peace in me
Righteous people face many troubles, but my God
The Lord comes to rescue each time
This is how, this is now, this is how I deal with adversity
Never late always right on time
This is how I'm dealing with adversity
I just be still and rest in Him
You bring peace to me
In me you bring peace
So sweet peace in me
My Father God brings me peace
Ever sweet this is how He brings me peace
Releases me He fights our battles
Keeps me solid, full never thirsty
This is how I deal with adversity

June 23 Faith in God Bible Meditations Based on Psalms 51-56

Key Verse – Psalm 51:1 Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

FAITH IN GOD WHO BLOTS OUT OUR TRANSGRESSIONS

God blots out our transgressions for our redemption with His compassion
Surely assuring us everlasting mansion along immortal wealth’s provision
As our faith in the Saviour Jesus granted us eternal life’s possession…
We thank Him for regenerating us so now we have heavenly vision.

God blots out our transgressions for our growth’s progress
Surely providing us our needs to overcome stress
As our faith in His truth leads us toward His righteousness’ fortress…
We praise Him for nourishing us by His grace of divine caress.

God blots out our transgressions for our pursuit toward holy living
Surely cleansing us from filthiness that makes our soul starving
As our faith in His sanctification frees us from carnal craving…
We honour Him for giving us pardon as our sins He is constantly forgiving.

God blots out our transgressions for our spiritual stability
Surely reinforcing to us His presence amidst any calamity
As our faith in His power upholds us against adversity...
We exalt Him for enabling us to cling to His unwavering capacity.

God blots out our transgressions for our virtuous contentment
Surely filling us with peace and encouragement
As our faith in His Word satisfies us upon His settlement…
We salute Him for working in our victorious commitment.

God blots out our transgressions for our stewardship and service
Surely blessing us in our calling toward His great office
As our faith in His wisdom guides us as Biblical police…
We rejoice in Him for commending us in our earnest practice.

God blots out our transgressions for our welfare and future
Surely cheering us to keep on so we can Scripturally mature
As our faith in His second coming excites us toward the rapture...
We worship Him while doing His will in our discipleship venture.

Thank God For Trouble

Thank God for trouble for without you could not see
How triumph over adversity will give you the victory

How can you appreciate the good if you never had the bad?
How can you feel joy if you've never been sad?
You can be high or low, you can go far and wide
And trouble will always find a way to be by your side

Thank God for trouble, the struggles and the strife
Thank God for trouble and His Son Jesus the Christ
Now the early church was looked at with a jaundiced eye by those in power
The people of faith were killed and tortured at any given hour
There was frenzied persecution and false prosecution in those troubling days
And it seems that that state of mind is still here today

Thank God for trouble and thank Him for Jesus the Christ
As He dealt with our troubles by giving His life
We now know that trouble leads to perseverance and hope
And by Jesus' stripes we now know how to cope
That yield point in life that we strive to attain
Not to be broken but to rebound with the ability to sustain

Thank God for trouble for without it we would never discover
That unconditional faith in God gives us the ability to recover
Now full of character and pregnant with possibilities
We may fall down but we get up striving towards our God-given destinies
And because we have God on the inside that Holy Spirit which dwells within
We are more than conquerors we're God fearing women and men
Thank God for trouble for without it we'd never be able to see
How the Lord God is working for you and for me

Thank God for trouble

Premium Member Banish the Darkness - 2022

“If someone besides a black ever sings the real gut bucket blues, it’ll be a Jew. We both know what it’s like to be someone else’s footstool.”
     -Ray Charles

Author’s note: this is a companion piece to “Where Are They Now?”
Published in Out On A Limb, 2020

In the shadows lurk a venomous hate,
a darkness that festers, sealing our destiny.
Its target, the sons and daughters
of a heritage rich in history’s pages.

From ancient times to the modern era,
the prejudice persists in myriad ways.
A scapegoat for woes, a target for blame,
the Jew bears the brunt of humanity’s disgrace.

With whispers of conspiracy, lies unfurl,
a web of deceit, cruel and cold.
Stereotypes wielded like a sharpened blade,
piercing the soul, leaving hearts gored.

From pogroms to ghettos, from Holocaust’s cry,
to the present day’s thriving rhetoric.
The echoes of hatred, they still ring out,
in the air we breathe, in the ground we’ve uncovered.

Surrounded by darkness, a glimmer of
resilience and courage, shining bright.
For the Jewish spirit, it will not shatter
in the face of adversity, but will awake.

So let us stand against the trend,
with love and compassion, side by side.
For in unity, we find our power
and banish the darkness with unwavering light.

A Normal Living

I fear happiness, I fear peace too
Lest I ignore strife and struggle,
The memories of past lived in gaiety
Won’t they burden the heart in woe?

I fear wealth, I fear power too
Lest I neglect the poor and the weak,
The memories of past lavish living
Won’t they trouble the mind in adversity?

I fear vanity, I fear impertinence too
Lest they corrupt my good conscience,
The memories of past treacherous living
Won’t they torment the soul in ignominy?

Yeah, I seek happiness but some sorrows too
Some pleasures of life but some pains too,
The memories of past normal living
Won’t they make one normal in troubles too?
