Resolutions for 2023
Lord ! I pray all along to guide me !
Show me the steps on my journey of life.
Earnest request through my prayer:
I won’t ask for your favour in trouble.
I won’t pledge to rescue me
but pray for courage in my endeavor.
If danger tangles with tentacles:
Earnest request through my prayer
to to confront obstacles and overcome.
In sports of life , wish to be a good player.
Might situation show adversity,
Earnest request through my prayer not to give up .
Lord ! In miseries don't want to be consoled.
Truth and Honesty always to share
serene sublime soul !
Earnest request through my prayer:
Be always with me to act righteous.

Oh how I'm so tired of feeling tired.....
Weak and helpless, as if my days have been spent.
Bent double, crippled backwards, now cast aside.
It seems that, one by one, my organs crumble,
back into the dust from which I was made.
Sharp pains shoot like bullets but stab like knives,
catching any lingering breath in a vice-like clamp.
My head fogged, in a piercingly thick cloud that fails to lift, and renders all intelligence useless.
And oh how weakness scowers my body helpless,
too listless to perform daily life or even simple chores.
My mind fails me now,
words no longer elegantly arranged in meticulous form.
Alas, my mind plays tricks of which my vision is victim,
and now my hearing has joined in the lucid facade.
Despite everything, I pray for peace in this turbulent time.
Even as I grow weaker, I shall remain steadfast in my Lord.
He shall deliver me from all ills, through all adversity,
all in His time, through His power.
Until I reside in greener pastures, his work through me complete,
and he can lovingly call me home.

Choose Wisely, rise Above emotions. In the movement and flow of life’s endless tide, don’t let emotions be your guiding light, for in hasty choices, regrets may reside, instead, choose wisely, with a logical sight.
Emotions, a tempestuous sea that can pull, clouding the judgment, blurring the view, but with a rational mind, you can overrule, and make choices that lead to a future anew.
Let not anger or fear be your steering guide, but let wisdom and reason take the helm, in the face of adversity, stand tall and stride, let your choices be planned, not overwhelmed.
For emotions, they dance like flames in the wind,
Flickering, volatile, unpredictable and strong, but a calm mind ensures clarity, rescinded, and propels you to a path that is proven and long.
So, dear wanderer, in life’s intricate game, don’t let emotions dictate your every move, choose wisely, rise above and reclaim the power to shape your destiny and groove.
Embrace rationality, let it be your creed, for with clarity, your choices become ever clear, navigate life’s waters with a calculated speed, and watch your dreams and aspirations draw near.
Aphorism hinders ancillary terrible dilemmas,
In the bearing session, I have been picked.
If I've carried out the most striking edemas,
Approaching all them might be kicked.
Living has scored the highest goal of my life.
Drilling entails helping others with adversity.
Tried some of our lives reading how to rife.
How is it annoying to issue the miscellany?
I haven't had to swallow long-term memory.
By proving that hopeless feeling into words.
As vital as this work is, I grasp its own purity.
My path in life changed clearly as I can record.
Each way of life stirs love, trust, and veracity.
Retain that life is too brief to live indifferently.

if I had all the money that I ever wanted,
I suppose that I could travel the world;
live in a better home, buy better clothes, if money was no object,
but you see money cannot help me,
each day my health is more delicate, slipping further away;
and all the money in the universe will not change a thing,
this is my struggle and my daily reality . . .
the things I give myself are simple,
relaxing music to soothe this weary soul;
peace, tranquility and love to ease my pain,
and I ask the Lord for strength . . .
in meditation I try to fathom the why,
of course, with money I could go to a fancy retreat;
but a corner in my bedroom is set aside for meditation and relaxing,
and it is there I have placed peaceful things that cost very little . . . .
perhaps with money I could get better drugs,
but no drug is going to change my destiny;
this I know deep in my heart and soul,
I have for a long, long time.
I think a lot about my past and life so far,
the paths I took or did not take, the things I said or did not;
could money have changed my journey in any way . . . doubtful.
a warm bath, a cozy bed, a sweet purring cat, paper and pen so I can write,
my laptop within reach, a walk in nature listening to the birds;
a loved one to hold my hand . . . .
these are my indulgences and they may not seem like much to you,
but I feel like the wealthiest person in this world;
for money cannot buy happiness nor can it buy life,
all I need is the indulgence of tranquility;
and that comes from within . . .
so I have learned to embrace my adversity in no matter what form,
and live each moment, each hour and each day'
with courage and dignity . . .
In the dark of night, shadows danced, whispers of injustice echoed through time
Black men sought escape in new, destructive habits
Dreams faded like smoke in the air, leaving lost souls and shattered hopes
The barrier of getting a black lad a decent life aroused depression, but black men, we are
We rise, but do we rise taller or merely wiser?
We rise from the ashes of pain, while claiming our space and our pride
In the face of adversity, we won't hide, we march on with fists clenched high
But, how will we experience triumphs while we lack cooperation?
Broken chains reveal broken minds, struggling to unite, weighed by internal demons
Yet in vulnerability, we find unbreakable strength,we rise, unshaken
For black men, we are unbreakable
Wisdom penned on parchment white,
Spine of life’s path, our bonafide guide,
Quenches a voracious appetite,
Minds ensnared in a rollercoaster ride.
Like a hot spring’s embrace in an arid land,
Hollowness fades as enlightenment grips,
A healer extending a helping hand,
Nurses the seeker's shattered bits.
Tickles the sixth sense in adversity,
Reviving life in a parasite's domain,
Ignition stems from diversity,
The more the merrier, they sustain.
Soul-stirring lines enchant the beloved,
Lures a master to a disciple devoted,
Sings a baby to sleep, dreams vivid and loved,
A hobby helps one stand out, truly noted.
Mania plaguing masses vast,
Knowledge bound in covers tight,
Literacy curbing poverty at last,
A golden treasure in sight.
John you are a world full of passion and music
A lovable romantic,
A musical song bird who sings in the choir
A preacher who is knowledgeable of the Bible
A warm hearted Christian soul
Who is the passionate writer you all know
A friendly, brotherly type with a sympathic ear
One brother, two sisters and a mother who is dear
Someone who has seen the hard part of life
Someone who has faced adversity and came out just right
Someone who I am proud to call my friend
Someone who was willing to try and make a difference
So song bird, my special buddy to you I salute.

Petunia is the plain little sister
who gets overlooked and passed over.
She’s not the pretty one,
always quiet and reserved,
not classy, fancy or graceful.
She takes backstage at every turn.
No games, no false pretenses.
She’s frumpy, floppy and flimsy.
Her scent is unrefined,
not confused with real perfumes.
She’s somewhat of an ugly duckling
but when the going gets tough,
we can’t help but admire
her tenacity when facing adversity.
Slow and steady wins the race.
She’s low maintenance, demure and bashful.
So reliable is her performance,
she’s been known to outshine competition.
Unpretentious and free from vanity
Yet, fact not known… surprise ~
petunia blooms are edible !

Dear diary!
One who bears the brunt of my adversity,
And my misery, you condone with affability.
There and back to make an affix,
Of an apparently gifted anomalies.
Night so long and yet so short
Threatening with its dreadful silence thought.
Providence, my heart sought,
From my "seems-unending strait",
Which hath made me desolate.
The day, I wish, ceases to break
Its torment, I could make a clean break.
For obscured I am in obviousness,
And lost I am in no one's guess,
'Cos my lovelessness hath made me less.
My seamy life, I shall lay to rest
For I need own a love nest.
Whence from forlornness, I will be harboured
And to its grace, I'll pledge my flesh and blood
But with my diary, I'll move abode.
