her heart is an open book,
pages torn and frayed,
tossed round so carelessly,
beaten up and played.
If a bandage could cure the hurt,
if actions didn't sting,
those pages might not fade away,
her heart just might take wing.
Nobody said you cant get up,
once you've been pushed to the ground,
no one said that hope wont guide you,
and help your trust be found.
she found resilience in her weakness,
now she can be strong,
she may seem frail and quiet,
but she will show you that your wrong.
Simply walking away from them,
and refusing to glance back,
passes the test of will that she has,
self control she does not lack.
With a grin on her face,
and the wind in her hair,
her heart is an open book,
so be nice to it, be fair.
Some days are harder than others,
being shoved to the ground,
but she still has light in her eyes,
and refuses to stay down.
I met a sweet lady today
who has a heart as big
as can be.
She has a heart
of gold.
She was all and more
of what I had heard
about her.
She made me feel
so at ease, as I talked
with her.
She raised her son Dale
right, with old fashion
ideals and morals
grounded into his
soul.
She has been through
some rough and sad times
as of late, but this dear lady
still marches on,
because she has a heart
of gold that refuses to
give up and yield to defeat.
She helps others, before she
thinks of herself.
She really reminds me of my
own mother, this is why
I admire her so much, with
just one meeting I learned a
lot from this fine lady.
She gives out love just
as my own mother did,
this lady was and is my
Grandson Brandon's other Grandmother,
and now I can see where he
gets the love that sparkles
in him that he tries to give to others,
I will say one thing, I sure
am glad that I got to meet
this lady with a heart of gold.
written 5-1-11
Dale is my son-in-law and Brandon's father) I met his mom for the first time today, she is visting here from Florida.-
To awake the spiritual eyes in me,
I must die to myself, though unnatural it be.
Wake up soul, and see with new eyes,
how something lives why'll something dies.
Prune now my heart from bitter thorns.
Blow the trumpet, sound the horns!
Death to my will, my heart I give,
to the one who died so that I might live.
Love begins with the stare
Then turning away
Love begins with looking each other in the eyes
Without looking away
Love begins with being friends
That is from the heart and soul
Then "Will you go out with me"
Love begins with the feelings
That is from the heart and soul
Love begins with hugs
And then with kisses
Love begins with "I love you"
To "Will you marry me"
Love begins sad
To happiness
Repel
The sounds of hate
Fate, voices of fury
That grip the heart in an icy
Embrace.
Repeat
The sounds of love
Words, songs and special gifts
That lift the heart upon the wings
Of doves.
Return
The sounds of joy
With a voice filled with songs
That seize the heart, no longer wronged
Royal.
Rejoice
With sounds of cheers
For here comes the new sun
And all hearts can be lifted up
In peace.

Though my many belongings be now gone
My family members be scattered in distance and in heart
Illness has fallen upon my body holding me captive
In my heart ... deep within my soul
I cry out ... ‘All is well’
For I cannot count my thoughts as good
Nor my ways as upright
For God’s thoughts are higher, His ways are perfect
He is above all ... deep within my soul
I cry out ... ‘All is well’
For everything is the Lord’s
Thus I am also, therefore because I am His
He gets the first fruits of my love and life
In my heart ... deep within my soul
I cry out ... ‘All is well’
An elderly man smiled at me today
his face so round and merry,
It filled my heart so full of joy
my day no longer weary.
He had no idea what his smile had done
to warm my heart completely,
and so on down the isle he went
with his bags tucked in so neatly.
His smile still bright and charming
as he walked on out the door,
What a nice day this turned out to be
just going to the store.
Its amazing how a simple gesture
can brighten up ones day,
If you see a stranger, smile at them,
for kindness goes along way.
A night full of romance with candles and with wine
Changed my mind forever about love with another guy
Abuse by one who loved me or at least that claim was made
Caused my heart to turn to stone and each time walked away
The romance felt was special in a way never received
From this man I had dinner with new feelings were conceived
Oh how my heart missed romance and feel of another’s touch
This time I will enjoy it without the need to rush
My days are now spent in joy with the one I have grown to love
Such a special bond and friendship we have in our souls
To think that one fool’s actions almost caused my heart’s demise
Then I would not be here standing as a beautiful blushing bride
When I find someone to love
Written By Dean Masciarelli

When I find someone to love
That is willing to share
There life with me
And I know in my heart
That it is the kind of love
That is meant to be
The first thing I will
do is to make sure
That I thank God above
Every single day
For bringing someone to me
That can fill my heart
With an ever lasting love
That can last forever and a day
I worship you for the plan made for me
From the beginning you knew the tree
The sun, moon, stars nestled at height just right
An atmosphere that surrounds with good light
Through the centuries you knew when to come
To redeem humanity and touch man some
Bringing hope to a lost and dying world
With your teachings, blood, sweat, tears earth did swirl
The guider, comforter, holder of my heart
Omniscience, all knowledge from the very start
Capturing my heart with all that you made
Creating it from your words needed no spade
Exalt my redeemer, friend, comforter
Valentine, my heart is an admirer
(Second attempt at a sonnet. This is for the "I love you because" contest.)
Dear God,
She arrived with tears in her eyes.
Knees locked.
I whispered, "Leave your past at the door."
I dried your tears with my thumbs.
I took a breath deep into my lungs.
I felt my heart press up against my ribs.
I felt your soul brush up against my lips.
My angel of integrity!
With every step that you take with me,
I promise you sincerity.
Your soul has been battered.
Your heart turned into a cold cadaver.
You graze your fingers in between mine,
feel the warmth of my skin as it penetrates through your blood stream.
You are my angel of integrity!
Breathing life into the lifeless.
Like a match, we lock eyes, set fire, and ignite this.
Let it burn.
Watch as our whole world turns.
I will always meet you with grace and the simplest sincerity.
Hope
When in my heart long lost hope cannot find savor.
There is darkness that sometimes overwhelms- grows- dwells.
Angry bitter thoughts clearly, ring Satan's doorbells.
Allowed to savor life-long distasteful flavor.
Mal-thoughts conceived at leisure rape life of treasures.
Depression bereaved will vicariously wail.
Truth-less-news implanted in the heart will impale.
Robbing long-forgotten wishes of life pleasures.
Why, allow I, thoughts to dwell on imperfections?
Why sink I, my soul beneath the truth, to be lost?
Should not I resurrect kind thoughts of evil tossed
Which without bounds can lead hope to new reflections?
Yea, I say! I shall savor truth clearly, dearly.
And lead my thoughts above the mundane ills of life.
I shall offer hope to others who suffer strife.
And thus doing, seek not praise, but joy, sincerely.

She's a beautiful rare ruby with a heart of gold,
She met a guy who she fell head over heels for,
She gave him her fragile heart to hold,
He had one hand on her heart and the other on the door,
He put both hands on the door,
He left her heart scattered across the floor,
He left her mind clouded with confusion,
He's like a magician with a flawless illusion,
The hurtful words that were said to her rang in her ears,
Her body just sank to the floor in a puddle of tears,
She picked her self up and mended her broken heart,
She closed and locked the door that he left open,
He had changed her life from the start,
He made her a stonger woman,
She will travel the world searching for the one,
and with a fresh page her journey has just begun.
The Heart Stays
By Dane Smith-Johnsen
Morning Glory cuddled high in the oak.
Your bright lavender enlivened my heart,
Fear and pain overwhelmed; a dreaded yoke.
Then, God, outside my window, love starts.
Verdant! Vine winds upon the gray-brown bark.
High above the unexpected is found.
Cascading like a bride’s bouquet, please hark!
Beauty was God’s simple gift yet profound.
Knowing, when all seems hopeless, even love.
That Heavenly Father knows how to give.
The simple things in life, gifts from above,
Like today’s Morning Glories, that there live.
Tomorrow borne of sorrow, life may be.
Today, the darkest hour fades away.
Beyond the fear of death that one may see.
God lends a hand uplifting; the heart stays.

(Sonnetina Rispetto)
You must return to the very start
Just look into your mind and heart
And so you can be born again
Heed my words for I do not lie
To be born again old must die
Free from all the pain and the sin
You must return to the very start
Just look into your mind and heart
For,if I may be really bold
The new is born out of the old
And so you can be born again
Free from all the pain and the sin
You must return to the very start
Just look into your mind and heart
