Where I Was

I was arriving home one night
The smell of smoke clinging to my shirt
The laughs at the café humming around my ears

The sky above, a homely grey
I looked up at the sky, something I should do more often
But my gaze kept climbing and straining
Picks in hand, over and over, almost draining
Held back by a concrete behemoth
On all three sides of my limited vision
All I saw was wall

My claustrophobic heart scrambled away from these encroaching giants
I forced my eyes against the dread, they whimpered, I felt the same
Up, and up, rolling up, gravity cringed, still I looked
And all I saw was wall
All kinds of painted wall

Red, orange, brown
Grey
Grey skies
Magnetic flesh, my eyes guzzling in the grayness, like starved infants at their mothers breast
My heart slowed, the hum of the café carried away in the breeze
Echo of laughter
Grey skies

Then and there I happened upon a realization
I was as far away from Earth as I could ever be standing there on that artificial blanket of tar

The funny thing about assumptions you see
Is that they seem so right
The feeling of discovery, some coveted grand mystery
Then that dreadful moment of enlightenment, the proclamation of self doubt
The moment that some unnamed flock of white bird
Charges through my faulty reasoning
Streaking across Grey skies

And just at that very same moment, squinting
Drinking in the white mass of life fleeing my stare
On that dark, humid night
The echo of laughter still in the air, clinging to my shirt, muddled in smoke
Choking my sense of belonging, I knew exactly
Where I was

Angel of Integrity

A whisper in the wind.
Ears deafened.
Failure to listen.
Rain falling from the sky.
Tears from the angels.
Heartbroken cries.
I met you in the darkness.
Standing in silence.
We were invisible to the light.
I could see the hopelessness in your eyes.
Your screams echoed in my dreams.
It's time for you to stand up and fight.
You have felt like you had nothing left.
Trust had faded from your depths.
I can promise you something more than companionship.
We can make it.
If you just try.
Breathing life into battered lungs.
Giving your heart deliverance.
What you've given me is more than words can say.
I don't know if I'll ever be able to thank you properly.
Life as we once knew it is dead!
This meeting place isn't the end.
Just a place of middle ground.
It's time to change the courses of your life.
Bring your heart to the table.
I will restore what it has desired.
We will no longer forsake what has been placed at our feet.
This is living.
Two hearts beating.
Four lungs breathing.
Your innocence no longer betrayed.
You're looking truth directly in the face.
Once alone.
Once a broken fragment of yourself.
Brought into your life to be a savior of suffering.
This is what it feels like to mean something.
Together we'll shine brighter than a million blazing stars.
Graceful emotion.
We have saved one another from the darkness.
I can see you, can you feel me?
You are my angel of integrity.

The Earth Cries Out

Glory to the Maker
King of earth and sky
Heaven's light is brightest
Within a child's eye
Breath of heaven eases
Peace unto my soul
Joy within the breezes
When the sky shines gold
A tapestry of colors
The artist at His work
Out from His great haven
No longer will he lurk
Sing to Him, Oh angels
Feathered wings abreast
From the seated thrones
Sing from you nests
Fly to Him, dear monarch
Your wings shall wait no more
Take this message to Him:
"We long to hear you roar!"
Awaken might lion
The sun with warmth awakes
Call us by your standard
Give the earth a shake
By your mane, unite us
Call us to your side
You have called us suns
Remind us we are brides
Call the beauty in us
Leave not heart alone
Here we make the victory
That one day will be shown

The trees dance at your beauty
Look, even the Elm!
In all his splendid garb:
"Glory to Your relm!"

I say, "The earth cries out
From cloud to heart of stone
Listen, even the weeds
Rejoice that they were grown!"

Glory to the father
In the sky, His son
On this day, remind us
Your light: the only One

Heaven's song united
In the earth, a shout:
"See our savior coming!
Our king is on His route!"

Rejoice, oh my soul
Here is found all worth
Weaken not, my soul
He has given us new birth

Amen

You Came To Me Oh Lord

If what I feel is true
Don’t know how to explain
That my heart was heavy once
And didn’t know what to do

I was gloomy and darkness fell
 over me, all at once
I thought that I was through
And was going straight to hell

Chorus

But then you came to me
And entered in my heart
And now that I am free
Promise with you to never part

I need you, Lord, to know
How desperate I did feel
Didn’t think that I would make it
And saw it all so real

The bad became the worse
And the worse became so real
And their teachings that I heard
Never happy would make me feel

Chorus

But then you came to me
And entered in my heart
And now that I am free
Promise with you to never part

My heart became a stone
Didn’t know that I could feel
This LOVE that you give me
And my sins away you peeled

Now I’m grateful, Lord
And full of love I feel
Not only for you, God
But I feel I love the world

And most important, Lord
I feel I Love myself

Because

You came to me, Oh Lord
And entered in my heart
And now that I am free
Promise never from you to part

And become so lovingly
And stretch out my hand to thee

No matter what it is you feel
Prayer will set you free
So believe and faith will never fail
And let God’s love in you prevail

Darling(The Worst Is Over)

This cold air fills my lungs.
I can see it in your eyes.
You're so fragile and weak.
Your hollow chest holds empty nothings.
You won't even fight.
Put the lies to rest.
Darling open those precious eyes.
When will you realize that I'll never leave your side.
Your heart has been broken so many times.
Your eyes like diamonds have cried so many tears.
I won't give up on you.
Darkness has surrounded your mind.
Your torn at the seams.
Life is nothing more than a bad dream to you.
If you give me one last fighting chance, I'll pull you through.
Powerless.
Blood stains your dress.
Put down your scissors.
You must learn the word forgiveness.
Open up inside.
If you give me this chance, I'll open your eyes to a new life.
I'll breathe hope into your lungs.
I know what you have been through.
Just trust me.
I won't hurt you.
If you're gonna believe in something, darling believe in me.
When everyone has left you here, look who is still standing beside you for an eternity.
You'll make it out.
Your heart has graced your sleeve.
Follow your heart and no longer grieve.
I've meant every word I've said from the start.
That'll never change.
I'll hold your hand through this all.
Can't you see the words I've engraved on this wall.
I love you.

An Irreplaceable Moment Like This

Those were the best five seconds I have ever felt,
Hearing those words "You are going to be aunt" made my heart melt.
I am so happy for my sister, she is going to be an amazing mom,
Her warm heart is going to keep you, baby, calm.

I already love you little baby more than anything in this world,
Knowing that I am going to be an aunt, makes my life crystaled and pearled.
You give me something to live for, something to look forward to,
The feelings I have for you are o so true.

Just thinking about you puts a smile on my face,
you are more than a gift from God, you are a little piece of grace.
I am counting down the days, till I meet my beautiful nephew or niece,
where I get to see you, a little slice of heaven, in a mini piece.

I can't wait to teach you how to read, and ride a bike,
and to teach you that the greatest things in life are more than a hike.
I long for the day when I get to hear your heart beat,
and to see you and tickle your little feet.

A mother and a father who are going to love you the most,
and to be sure to comfort you and are going to be the ones to boast.
Nine months till I meet you seems a lifetime away,
but I hope you always know that i will love you forever, and be here to stay.

More Bitter Than Sorrow

When freedom is limited to merely living a gloomy existence,
not having access to all the privileges and total liberties
of a free society, then it's more bitter than sorrow.

When one's faith is not allowed to be openly professed and expressed
to praise God and place Him above Man, it's a suppressing hand
hindering any heart to sing its hymns...becoming an ordeal more bitter than sorrow.

I have the gift of the written word, which the Almighty endowed me at birth,
and my intolerance can infuriate the rage of any suppressing regime without worth;
woe to them who will force me to swallow a venom more bitter than sorrow!

For an uncrowned head, with no honor bestowed upon it, there's no need for a sword,
but how will the doleful faces, that desire joy to shine upon them, celebrate life?
I can offer them solace, not hopelessness which is more bitter than sorrow.

Cruel and unfair kings, you run your kingdoms with an inhuman heart and a bloody hand,
drowning your people in conspicuous silences; a fearful people, who must never cause discord
among the poor and the ignorant, lest they choose a martyrdom more bitter than sorrow.

Heart of Gold

I met a sweet lady today

who has a heart as big

as can be.

She has a heart

of gold.

She was all and more

of what I had heard

about her.

She made me feel

so at ease, as I talked

with her.

She raised her son Dale

right, with old fashion

ideals and morals

grounded into his

soul.

She has been through

some rough and sad times

as of late, but this dear lady

still marches on,

because she has a heart

of gold that refuses to

give up and yield to defeat.

She helps others, before she

thinks of herself.

She really reminds me of my

own mother, this is why

I admire her so much, with

just one meeting I learned a

lot from this fine lady.

She gives out love just

as my own mother did,

this lady was and is my

Grandson Brandon's other Grandmother,

and now I can see where he

gets the love that sparkles

in him that he tries to give to others,

I will say one thing, I sure

am glad that I got to meet

this lady with a heart of gold.

Dale is my son-in-law and Brandon's father) I met his mom for the first time today, she is visting here from Florida.-

When the Sun and the Seaside Kissed

When the Sun and the Seaside Kissed
     By Dane Smith-Johnsen

Oh, how lovely the view that summer’s eve.
When the sun and the seaside kissed.
There stood on the shore a soul bereaved.
For the heart had known not life’s bliss.
By the wind’s gentle breeze silhouette beheld.
And caressed a soul’s tearful mist.
Heavenly smile, a little bit wild,
Somehow strangely beckoned, hissed.
The heart strongly longed for the splendor awhile.
Invitation did not resist.

This day that I speak of was long ago.
Pain embraced a sweet soul in the midst.
We both know; spirits soared that night.
Hope’s summons had not been missed.
Witnessed by God, the angels sang.
Then, they wrote our names on a list.
That day, death’s call was washed away.
And love for an eternity clasped.
Invocation! Death could not enlist.
Standing there crying in the mist,

The wind blowing ever so free,
Salty air was my only kiss.
How deadly my view that summer’s eve.
For this heart had known not life’s bliss.
God sent you to rescue me.
And enlightened my soul’s tearful kiss.
We stood relieved and sang on the shore.
When the sun and the seaside kissed.

Thank You

In a little corner of my heart I hold
Sounds and sights that I behold
Stories and tales I have never told
Fond memories I will have when I grow old

In my memories I see a face
So beautiful and charming, so full of grace
A face that changed my life in its entirety
A face I may never ever see

My memories are of an autumn glow
Of a palace, a garden, where time tends to slow
Where a church bell tolled and in prayer I knelt
Where the loving touch of an angel I felt

I was tired and dreary and full of sorrow
I had nothing to give, no love to borrow
My heart ached as punishment of my sin
My life had ended before it could begin

The angel dared me to dream anew
To mend my life’s torn muscles and sinew
To find love and share it with one and all
Not to lose heart and stand up if I fall

Since then I have learnt to live
Learnt to be happy and not to grieve
Learnt that a day always follows the night
Learnt that survive, I just might

My thoughts always go back to you
Oh Angel! What would I be without you?
All my happiness is a tribute to you
So let me just say, Thank you
