A Career in Undercover

It's no surprise
that I'm back here
looking out over the river,
painting thoughts, dripping
memories, smearing streaks
of the here and now 
across the canvas of a dull,
overcast day.

There was a time 
when I had ambitions to be
an artist, high school dreams
of a life in smoke filled studios,
tee shirts and paint splattered
Levi jeans. ( A la Jackson Pollock )

Horror Story.

Wife’s gone to bed, there’s a spooky sound
Still scared of the dark when no one’s around
I hear her snore in the room above, 
A reassuring growl, is just enough
In the film a killer is stalking
All the lights off, no one’s talking
Turn on the lights, an involuntary scream
Has no affect on those in the scene

Darkness endows the small 
and the ordinary
with poetic power
Falling with the fallen
rising with the chosen
Reaching for 
forgiveness

Warm air
on cold water,
a layer of mist forms,
rushing headlong while time permits,
knowing that the sun will bring certain end.
The river flows under cover
of fog, hiding secrets
known to none but
herself.

Take-off target

Farfetch  courage
Tell tail junk mail

Up start breaks heart

He chafes the prayer beads against his wrist
	Has died lesser deaths of exasperated rage
		It’s not forgiveness he seeks but purifying anger

To feel the rawness of emotion he focusses
	On undefeatable loss and zealous slaughter
		Of cross fires approaching target practice

A peaceful man and oft discerned by thoughts 
	In overthinking modes of analytical destruction

The moon
  so hazy
in early winter sky
  fights to break through
  
denied, she
  casts her spell

as a door creaks
  near me 
while streaking
  across the sky

a ghostly hag
  on her broomstick
    ~ cackles

Lovers Undercover

God, forgive our love, as we sink in waves of fear.
Unrestrained sizzle and savour, a web tangles us near.
Our starving souls burn, ablaze in glowing ember.
Sparks of fiery frissons, so exciting to remember.   
Forgotten promises broken, we choose not to hear.
Thrill of forbidden love, simmers in lively cheer. 
Friendship laced touch , takes

The detective peeked through the keyhole
 As he gathered clues at the scene of the crime
 He knew the suspects well, but things had spun out of control
 And had for a long time

 A heavy object had jammed the door shut
  He'd soon go through this scene with a fine tooth comb
 Then

Baby you sitting there with a unique stare
Trust me blue isn't the color that fills the air
The two of us that we are
Shining like a bright star
Me looking at you from afar
We need to rediscover what lays dormant inside
When I'm with you it's all an amazing ride
Finding myself wanting to hover
Knowing all along I want

I didn't even see you coming but yet u want me to watch you leave 
A room filled with silence, and the sound of broken dreams
I try to hide that my voice is shaking 
My legs are weak and my heart is breaking 
All this is is just a casual fling 
2 years later look
