Premium MemberBeer Bloat

beer bloat
morning after
football Sunday
am I, or the bar
the consumer
I don't know
I had a good time
shot some pool
cracked some jokes
flirted with girls
not half my age
so vain
so pointless
so fun

journey coming
soon, so
shutting it down
redirecting energy
focus
vision
to what I want more
than football Sunday
a different land
a different people
I hope at least I
brain bloat
broader horizons
deeper insights
and sharper perspectives
than I afford myself here
...yeah
unto that end
I will exercise my mind
and body
un-glut, unclutter
minimalize
rid myself
of this
beer bloat

God, Unbolt His Heart

In the morning, innocent lamb left the farm
Behind his master, moved to the meadow
A treacherous chapman loomed him
In his purity, he listened to chap’s distorted words
As sweet as honey, they lead him astray his master

Naively, guiltless lamb was led into a deep hole.
Up and down, lamb looked; this is life as well.
He sat in the fleapit all day long like a mole
But never thought of a dump but another dwell
Mother sheep baabed to lamb’s deaf ear in hell.

Lamb’s meekness has been exploited to death
And in the deep hole, safe he believes he is
As time comes, he’ll be on knees to look up
For God to unbolt his mind and unclutter his ears
To remember many hearts, he has snubbed.

Premium MemberNot Junk To Me

Buried in a great big trunk
are things that some might call junk
Sweet cards from old friends and beaus,
decades-old knick-knacks and prose.

“Unclutter your life,” some say.
“Throw what you don’t use away.”
I say to them, “Let me be.
My keepsakes aren’t junk to me.”

*This is jeuju poetry. Here is Soup's basic definition of the form:
A Jueju is a type of poem from China that consists of a matched pair of couplets. Each line has either five syllables or seven syllables, so I followed the model given at Soup and then I wrote two Jeuju that go together.

Premium MemberSilence

Silence

Silence is the calming after our storm.
It consumes us with fragility of peace.
Within silence we look inward for our truth.
It beckons us not to speak when troubled.
Silence gives us pause as not to speak in anger.
It lets us to smile with our heart without a word.
In silence we become connected to one another.
Our minds are silenced to unclutter our thinking.
Silence is meditative to give us new energy.
In silence we gain a new perspective that was not there.

My Secret Haven

I love to walk where folk seldom tread,

Where I can find freedom, unclutter my head.

Where the only sounds are birds on the wing,

Such fine company, so sweetly they sing.

My favourite places are remote mountain tracks,

My only regret, that I have to come back.

Back to the noise, the traffic, pollution,

When it gets too much I know the solution.

Again I'll be off, the mountains will call,

My secret haven, my escape from it all.

Premium MemberHow Are You

I opened the door
and let the flood roll in
all I said was how are you
a plain simple answer
would have sufficed
but no- here it was
the whole truckload
of ungodly manure
dumped at my feet
piled so high up
my nose and ears
were full of it
not once but twice
and come to think of it
it’s every single time
I doubt I really need this
it isn’t sane or healthy
remembering I’m trying to
unclutter my own mess
clear my own backyard

Premium MemberDaydreaming Soulseekers

Looking outward.
She’s had a hard life, yet can still laugh and smile,
making it look effortless and genuine.
Looking bubbly and youthful, glowing from happiness
like she knows no other way to live.

I’d like to understand -- I really would.
She’s more than a survivor -- she’s a champ.
Looking within.
I have finally earned my bit of comfort.
I should feel light and worry-free.
I should be blissfully happy.
I should look at who I’ve let within my circle.

The negatives who've dragged me down:
the procrastinators, whiners, drama queens and naysayers.
I so need to unclutter and make room
for daydreaming soulseekers and inspiring artists.

Premium MemberGallery of My Heart

in hindsight how trivial it seems
workaholic’s constant judging
the need to be in control
striving for lofty standards
of overpriced perfection

the wasted opportunities
to bond with family and friends
and forge lasting memories

missed and gone with the wind
no second chances or redos
time never more precious

life’s a series of new beginnings it’s said
of turning pages and starting over
so now’s come the time to focus on myself
to drop the act and renovate my inner home
where I’ll retire and spend my life what’s left

the time is now to gather and unclutter
decide what’s of value and truly will to treasure
no time like now to focus on the gallery of my heart

Premium MemberImagine Reality's Gone

Breathe; deep breaths, fill your lungs with air,
and feel the tension slip away.
When reality seems unfair,
call time out; you don't wish to play.

Sever your tether to reason;
and drift to the land of pretend.
Meditation is in season;
treat yourself like you would a friend.

Breathe, simply breathe, deeply inhale;
hold it; be one with the healing.
Relax now, and slowly exhale;
drifting away on a feeling.

Lose yourself within who you are;
imagine reality's gone.
And morph into a shining star;
shedding shackles of right and wrong.

Breathe, take time to breathe, and you'll find
problems aren't that hard to resolve.
For, when you unclutter your mind,
anxieties tend to dissolve.

The Potter's Wheel

Fill me with loving strength
cleanse me with understanding,
let me see with your eyes
and feel the love of your soul

Tell me how I can gain your wisdom
for living a better-purposed life,
give me the knowledge of your words
so kindness is always on my lips

Ever-knowing, ever-seeing in you
is how I desire to live,
let me through the door of life
your door that holds the key

Unclutter my mind of waste
wash away my filth of living,
I am and will always be
your lump of clay to mold.

Uncertainty is
                                  An unresolved puzzle that
                                    Is waiting to be solved

                                     Unclutter your mind
From all the noxious thoughts that
                              Disturb your wellness and peace
