Tattoos
Since I no longer fit in my name,
I carry it beneath my heart,
like a relic unearthed
from a dead alphabet.
It is a cracked word,
written in blue ink
on the page of a lost Bible
in my grandparents' attic.
People call my name.
But their voices sound
like a bell lost
in an abandoned cathedral.
Perhaps they never learned
to utter the syllables of pain
in

Keep the Tattoos to Yourself Lulu
Lulu wanted this, that, those, these and the other.
Thought she deserved them, she dated a rich mother.
He liked tattoos, pretty soon her legs were tatted up.
So many tats, it rivaled the hair on her cat and pup.
Red tats, blue tats, yellow tats, purple tats, black tats too.
We asked her not to tell Grandma as she

The tattoos all over the body of that young lady
The tattoos all over the body of that young lady ~
what will they look like when she's seventy or eighty?
I'm afraid the ass of that sweet young lass
smelling flowers above her reclining lover in the grass
will slowly start squatting down on his bearded face, alas.

My Tattoos
My skin tells a tale, no shame, no regret/
Ink etched in darkness, paths firmly set/
Each mark a whisper, Occult and profound/
Symbols of magic, where shadows abound/
The inverted cross, a forearm's creed/
A testament to journey, to spirit and need/
Commanding respect, not of gangster lore/
But ancient rites, that my soul explores/
A clean life I walk, sober, legit/
No

History of Tattoos
Mummy from 3000 BC
Had a tattoo on its knee
Mustache ink above his lip
Mummy from Chilie, ink did drip
In the fifties tattoos became extinct
But today’s teenagers beg for their ink
Cultural identity now often seen
Spiritual beliefs on a tat, blue green.

Tattoos
Like surreal paintings, today's tattoos
are phantasmagorical works of art.
And unlike traditional blacks and blues,
infuse color and shading from the start.
It's worth a little clenching and wincing,
to attain light and shadow interplay.
They're so realistic and convincing;
tats are on another level today.
No longer fading away like a bruise,
indelible inks, ink modern pieces.
And talented artists engage their muse
to

Tattoos
On the human skin engraved
And for long seconds watched by The Enslaved
To the speechless delight of Spirit of the Eyes
Brazenly walking away with a victory, giant-size:
Self-pitying sighs From The Holy Ghost
Not remembered at His invisible but nearby post.
A great saver of precious Time
Now becomes Time’s Reckless Spender,
No longer valuing the accruing

God, Tattoos and Taboos
Now I enter public school
Where religion is against the rules
You may deface your arms with tattoos
But don't speak of God, that's taboo
Shave your head or color it green
Elect a transgender homecoming queen
Just don't study the Bible; it's obscene
Since progressive values it may demean
Study Marx & Lenin, Malcom X
Start a chat group

Ink Therapy
He said he likes my tattoos.
I said "Yes but darling can you kiss all my scars?"
The tattoos are beautiful but self-inflicted.
What about the wounds I never asked for?
Tiny imperfections,
pinpricked from years of abuse.

Cover Up Fashion
Why not grow, a goatee or a beard
if you think, you look really weird
Why not wear, those three-quarter shorts
if you think, your legs look like warts
Why not wear, no belt with your pants
if you think, your rear end is for glance
Why not put those studs on your body
if you think, you were born a zombie
Why

Make An Exception
Make An Exception
This is what I want you to do. Make an exception because this is ME. I want you to make an exception each and every time. I'm unique and not like the others. I'm no sheep or herd animal. I reserve the right to be an exception. This is my personal right. And

Leaf Tattoos
red
leaves bled
tattoos instead
on a cement stead
like a leafy tire tread
Autumn story to be read
fall entertainment for the head
of red leaves that soon to wet ground fled

Leaf Tattoos
red
maple
leaves make stains
cement tattoos
on rain-soaked sidewalks
from autumn’s hazy mist
that wash away with nighttime
downpours into fall memories
of pathways walked once in summer bliss
