To the White Rose of Germany , In memory of Sophie Scholl and the White Rose resistance group

In halls where silence cloaked the dread,
You raised a voice, though fear had spread.
With leaflets fluttering like doves in flight,
You lit a candle in the night.

Not with guns, nor iron might,
But truth and courage, fierce and bright.
A rose in winter, pure and still,
Defying hate with steadfast will.

Your words, like whispers through the air,
Asked hearts to feel, to act, to care.
Against a storm of brutal lies,
You stood with clear and open eyes.

Though gallows claimed your final breath,
You did not bow, not even in death.
Your petals fell, but not in vain—
They bloom where conscience dares remain.

White Rose of Germany, proud and free,
You taught what strength and soul must be.
A bloom of hope in darkest hour—
Forever grace, forever power.

Premium Member where is Sophie

the dogs seemed confused
We had taken Sophie with us
She was their old queen
feisty, grouchy, throwing out edicts
where is she? They asked us with their dog eyes
What did you do with her? They accused us.
We were already hurting; Sophie’s stroke had taken the energy out of us.
My husband and I were quiet for several days, hurting separately.
Our dogs are not cattle here, they are family members.
the dogs searched for Sophie until they found her.
We both knew she was still here.
I sensed her on the bed.
The bed went down in the small of my back.
As it always had when she was here physically.
The difference is, now she is here in spirit.
Our dogs always sense her first.

Sophie

Sophie and her family
Had once found
Two sicklish cub lionesses
In the forest.
And had decided to take them home;

They had a big garden.
So her father and she
Had decided to keep them;

The lionesses
Not only turned up healthy
But they even made cubs;

Sophie would go
And spend time with them
Regularly;

One day when she walked
Outside in the garden
And found the cubs reading the bible;

She got surprised;
«They are reading the bible?»
«My father has made them read the bible!»

«He certainly has got sense of humor!»
She thought to herself;
«What a prank!»

She made her way in the main road;
Meanwhile one of the cubs whispered to the other
Something about sin and eternal life;

«Just imagine the surprise of the lionesses,
When they see them.»
She said to herself;

She had walked for a while,
But then decided,
That she would take the book away from them;

But when she returned,
She already found them chewing
And biting on the book;

Premium Member Sophie His Sister

"Inspired by The Sick Child by Edward Munch 1907 Oils on Canvas." The Poet

Motif etched first then done in hues of green,
Light embracing her red hair to set the scene.
A sign of resignation on her pretty, pale face,
Once she carried herself with style and grace.

Her dear mother weeps in deep misery,
Besotted with grief, there’s no cure for her TB.
Kneeling she is portrayed with a touch of her hand,
Reaching out to her adored one, trying to understand.

Her daughter pale and weak, her hair lost its sheen.
Her life ending too soon, she is only fifteen.
No longer was the young girl so distraught.
Despite all the effort and how hard she had fought.

Paint was applied with rapid brush strokes.
Using vivid color as we see the passion it evokes.
Despite this painful true memory the artist depicts,
Not a traumatic scene, but one that contradicts.

His dear sister looks calm and rather sedate.
Sophie, knowing her fate, for death she will wait.

Premium Member My Friend Sophie

My friend Sophie says there is no honor among thieves
she'd steal your man if he likes to creep
then rationalize away any sense of shame
saying if no one is married it's just another thang
My friend Sophie speaks of pride and choice
a hint of ambition is casting her voice
Candidly she told me she'll gladly trade
job for kid husband and apron today
My friend Sophie will be too old soon
says her ovaries ache and swell like the moon
Sophie has laughs she lives and she lusts
I hope God blesses Sophie with true love.

Sophie Soulsister

We were the bond unbreakable that broke true
For I loved with a love unbreakable true.
But You, dearest Sophie girl, so cold and warm like spending the night outside but coming in warm like
My blood on your sweater, a blood so glittering gold
This is the legacy that prophecies foretold.
For you were the wind that propelled my sail
And now are my screaming song, my beautifouis wail.
Broken hearts but we were each a part of the same
At least, I thought, till you thought there was better than me.
And young and innocent I lost my innocence,
My sacred heart dost bleed for mankind’s Creed.
My feet are planted in a firm foundation but the base isn’t solid
It’s quicksand, drowning me, pulling me beneath.
But if the tidal waves came I’d drown happily, if you please.

The Dandelion and the Lamb

Sophie
Fell from heaven
Hated and abandoned
Trodden under by everyone
Trapped in the cracks of the earth by her roots
A lamb came to the lonely sun
And lifted the flower
Who is known as
Sophie

Premium Member Loved By Sophie

My cocker spaniel will be despondent tomorrow
For I am returning to school for an eight hour day
Worse, I made plans for the evening

Sophie will curl up in my blankets, smelling me,
Wishing I was here, until she falls asleep
She has a little step stool to get up on the bed

My husband will watch her while he works
When I return home she will hopefully still love me
And forgive me …..

Premium Member Sophie Helen and Shark

Sophie Helen is a cocker of sorts
She loves to sleep, denies all kinds of sports.
Enormous running days over for years.
She chases raccoons, has no obvious fears.

But only occasionally, for she is lazy and fat.
She eats baloney, and dances with Shark, our tom cat.
I never saw that ever in my life before
Says Vi, my elderly neighbor who lives next door.

What? I ask. Please, Vi, what do you see?
A dog and cat getting along. For the life of me!
The cat is wandering in and out of Sophie’s legs.
They are best friends, these two, they both eat eggs.

Table food please they yell loudly and clearly.
Shark meows and Sophie Helen loves him dearly.
They are a lot of company, this cat and this dog.
They love eating meat, especially bacon or hog.

Shark is ten, Sophie Helen is eleven and a half.
They are as funny and cute as zebra or giraffe.
Their antics well known, their friendship is fine.
I am glad every day that these goof balls are mine.

Premium Member Sophie of Salem Lake

Lake of Salem held secrets long forgotten by the good people.
Sophie the youngest girl ever drowned for being a witch kept watch
She kept a nightly vigil, checking on her mother and her sisters.
They had risen toward the top of the lake on magic poles.

Sentinels without eyes, punctured by the good people of Salem,
Who were attempting to get a confession from them of their sins.
The good people were always welcome to swim in the lake.
They could not see the innocent victims, as Sophie could.

Sophie's sparkling personality sprinkles diamonds on the water.
It gives her comfort to be this close to her mother and her aunts.
She had been forced to watch them die.

Her mother had pleaded for the Christians to let her go.
But of course, they had been frenzied, and righteous so….
If you go swimming at night, know that you do not swim alone.

Premium Member Anne-Sophie Mutter - the Club Album

As a great lover of classical music
over many years the violin became ace
one particular lovely lady enchanted me
Anne-Sophie Mutter classically first place

This lady appeared in the Yellow Lounge
a night club in Berlin, she did astound
the Club Album played out such true class
covering composers splendidly crowned

Classical music doesn't normally appeal
in such an establishment it is pretty rare
but the clientele loved this classic treat
as Anne-Sophie served them such fare

Thankfully this performance was recorded
being on CD and DVD covered release
composers like Vivaldi, Gershwin and Bach
stunningly superb richness on each piece

Love to watch this many times over
never fails to hold me in it's grip
such musical feast left in wonder
takes one sailing aboard strings ship

(This piece I have written of my favourite music album by the great German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter who performed her repertoire at a night club , "The Yellow Lounge" in Berlin, Germany.
It's available on youtube if you would like to watch as it last just over 30 minutes. )
