Sophie Scholl was raised a Christian in a Lutheran family
Born in the town of Forchtenberg in south west Germany
For standing defiant against evil with her young life she'd pay
In a country that was in deep turmoil and had lost its way.

She was a young teenager in nineteen thirty three
When a new leader offering hope, emerged in Germany
Adolf Hitler was an Austrian, who came to power
And for many it was the start of their darkest hour.

To unite the German people the Nazis held rallies
In some of the larger towns and all the big cities
But something dark and sinister was taking place
The evil Nazis were plotting to create a master race.

All the youth were encouraged to join an organisation
Hitler youth they were known all over the nation
Sophie and her brother together, with some of their friends
Turned their backs on the movement and vowed to make amends.

Word was getting around about death camps and persecution
Together they decided to form, a small non violent organisation
Known as the 'White Rose' who urged the people to renounce Hitler
They handed out leaflets telling the truth, about the Nazis slaughter.

One day at Munich University where Sophie studied as a student
She was seen distributing leaflets on what Nazi ideology meant
A janitor intervened and confronted her, and wouldn't let her go
She was arrested and then handed over to the notorious Gestapo.

They interrogated her to find out, who her accomplices were
But she wouldn't give them their names, as they tortured her
They charged her with high treason and sentenced her to death
To die by the guillotine and the date of execution was set.

They executed twenty one year old Sophie for making a stand
And they had accused her of being a traitor, to the fatherland
They eventually captured the others, five of them in all
And they too walked to their deaths standing proud and tall.

It’s people like Sophie who want to make the world a better place
And not supporting some twisted ideology like a master race
The Nazis were eventually defeated and their leaders tried
But not before Sophie and millions of other innocents had died.

 Wisdom à la Sophie
----------------------

Behind calm mind can come a fear,

So conquer it, and sprightly.

A fear must not despoil your year.

Quick, quell it. Live your life quite lightly.

Premium Member White Rose Sophie Scholl

It haunts me to think

that you would die for your ideals

at such a tender age

thinking you are

intellectually superior

and in many ways you were,

but Sophie,

it is such a waste to die so young

for what?

Your offspring could have

carried the flame

continued 'the white rose'

in all its purity and

ideological splendor

but you are right, off course,

even in death and thereafter

Mitt Gott kannst Du alles.

Sophie

I am in awe, oh dear Sophie
Of all things done and said
I am one single, wandering thought
In this world’s contemplative head

How do I dare speak all these words?
When facing this vast, capricious Vie
When tempests and storms ravage the waves
Of what worth is one droplet of the sea?

It is bewildering, as I am sure you know
Yet, it takes you almost a gesture to understand
I mustn’t refer to Zola’s Labyrinthe
To explain to you how it is on this part of land

I am in awe, oh dear Sophie
Of how distance, at times, can be undone
It takes a thought to simplify a world
And above so many, you are one.

Premium Member Anne-Sophie Mutter - the Club Album

As a great lover of classical music
over many years the violin became ace
one particular lovely lady enchanted me
Anne-Sophie Mutter classically first place

This lady appeared in the Yellow Lounge
a night club in Berlin, she did astound
the Club Album played out such true class
covering composers splendidly crowned

Classical music doesn't normally appeal
in such an establishment it is pretty rare
but the clientele loved this classic treat
as Anne-Sophie served them such fare

Thankfully this performance was recorded
being on CD and DVD covered release
composers like Vivaldi, Gershwin and Bach
stunningly superb richness on each piece

Love to watch this many times over
never fails to hold me in it's grip
such musical feast left in wonder
takes one sailing aboard strings ship

(This piece I have written of my favourite music album by the great German violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter who performed her repertoire at a night club , "The Yellow Lounge" in Berlin, Germany.
It's available on youtube if you would like to watch as it last just over 30 minutes. )

Sophie Reiff, Trophy Wife

Is this the weekend, by the way?
           (I always think it’s Saturday!)
Load the kids up in the car –
country club (I hit the spa:
hand the kids to gay Adolphe –
           calisthenics, crazy golf).
I spoil myself – it helps the stress –
the kids are having fun (I guess).
           Fox News Tom Cruise
           No Jews designer shoes.
           Rufe’s so square, a diplodocus:
the kids will always be my focus.

           Everybody needs a break
(we’re human too, for goodness’ sake).
We just do the normal things:
           cabin in Borrego Springs,
week in Vegas, see the shows,
           birthday dinner (Kiriko’s):
           never noodles, only sushi
(table used by John Belushi) –
private beach in old La Jolla
           (Rufe knows someone, bigshot lawyer):
           cocktail bar, upholstered loungers
(razor wire keeps out the scroungers).

Juan’s the poolboy. My help’s Auxi
           (Juanito’s neat, and Auxi’s mousey).
Wears my cast-offs, lives on chilli –
keeps her pay from getting silly.
Neither’s legal – which is good:
they stay grateful, like they should.
Minimum wage would tie a noose to it:
anyhow, they’re plenty used to it.
           She breastfeeds, Juanito hustles
           (fine-boned body, high-toned muscles).
           He’s moonlighting, pumping gas
           in San Diego, humping ass.

Rufe’s no idea what good taste is.
Parties with them friends of his.
	   I can’t stand them business folks –
Steaks and beers and dirty jokes.
I won’t go to meets or meals
if I can’t wear my strapless heels
and backless dress (Yves St Lauren)
           it’s not about impressing men
(who cares what they think?) – it’s the wives
it matters what a woman drives
who fixed her hair. What’s Satan’s curse?
To show up toting last month’s purse.

Sophie Wells

Sophie has been around animals all her life,
‘Cos her dad’s a farmer and she loves horses,
She was born on the 5th day of May in 1990,
With no nerve feeling in her fingers or feet.

Lincoln England graced her and she became,
A grade IV classification Paralympian rider,
Which is for people with less affective disabilities,
Although she has won non-disabled events.

At the Euros in Norway she bagged three golds,
In 2009, and at the Equestrian Worlds in 2010,
She won two more golds: individual, freestyle,
Such that she qualified for 2012’s Paralympics.

And a silver for the championship test grade IV,
And another silver for the very creative freestyle,
So she was given the MBE for equestrianism.

Sophie won team gold, two silvers, same events,
So in Rio she boldly claimed the individual gold,
On her horse Valerius who proudly celebrated.

Premium Member My Dog Sophie Made Stew

My dog took a hambone and made some stew.
With peppers, onions, cauliflower too.
We gave it a test
It was simply the best
And it made us laugh, and it made us pooh.

Sophie, what is in this fabulous stew?
Horseradish, onions, and salt that goes boo.
She would not tell us.
That little closed-mouth cuss.
It still made us laugh, and it made us go pooh.

My friend Sophie says there is no honor among thieves
she'd steal your man if he likes to creep
then rationalize away any sense of shame
saying if no one is married it's just another thang
My friend Sophie speaks of pride and choice
a hint of ambition is casting her voice
Candidly she told me she'll gladly trade
job for kid husband and apron today
My friend Sophie will be too old soon
says her ovaries ache and swell like the moon
Sophie has laughs she lives and she lusts
I hope God blesses Sophie with true love.

In sprinting and in runs middle distance,
So in the 100, 200 and 400 metres pop,
She beats most folks by persistence.

In France, Lyon, at the Worlds in T38,
Sophie ran the 100m to take the gold,
And in the 200m she took silver weight,
To begin her career with a sign foretold.

She was enthused by London’s Games,
She this entry into the athletics arena,
Stood her well for the European Games,
In Swansea: two silvers medals for her.

In 2015 Doha held the Worlds that year,
And for both the 100m and the relay, golds,
Then she put another silver in her bag, tier,
When she came second in the 200m folds.

Then in 2016 at the Europeans most dear,
In Grosseto, Sophie won two gold medals,
Plus one silver again for the 200 metre pier,

And also for the women’s relay 4x100 metres,
Her team took home the gold from the stadium.

About what she ate and drank, no rubbish,
And Sophie Killer with sports nutritionist tools,
