Remote Chance
The love of my life - on whom I dote
Was attacked in bed by Bill E. Goat
But she's rather plucky
And felt herself lucky
She could press REPLAY on the Remote....

To write her poetry while on the can
Her pen’s been known to scoop

A young girl who hailed from Kentucky,
Was out-going, sweet and quite plucky,
When out on a date

Little Spider
He abseiled from the ceiling

He rode a silken thread,

I blew a little breath his way

So back up he sped.

A plucky little fellow

He certainly was game.

He waited for a minute,

Then came back down again....

The Bulldog Breed
The British in the past
Seemed to have more grit
The Londoners of old
Bombarded in the Blitz
Shook their fists in defiance
Such were the plucky Brits
People alive today
Would never stand for it
They’d shout about human rights
And probably serve a writ...

Green sparkling in her eyes,
gasoline beneath her skin;
Kerosene in everything she says,
citrine hanging from a devilish grin;

Plucky with the heart of a rebel;
Bucks back, a walking contradiction;
Loves with the magick of the fey;
Luck? She spells it intuition....

plucky wildflowers,

Life ain't no serial streaming series
where the plucky gender-neutral heroes
defeat some XAnon false faced Ulysses.

Sigh, but it's not that way in the 'real' world
it’s a sum game which adds up the zeros
needles knitting with odd stitches unpurled.

While we play parts in bright shadow charades
leaders fiddle like modern day Neros
as the light of long-lost dreams slowly fades....

They DETAIN me but I won't COMPLAIN
Time MOVES slow lamented BLUES
Don't CRY for me as I fashioned a SIGH
To FREE my soul to God as he comforts ME
So DEEP are my feelings for those who WEEP
The DEATH of those who breathed their final BREATH
I KNOW my place in life and time will SHOW
To RENDER my service to Him and then SURRENDER

The Sad Tale of a Plucky Duck
The Sad Tale of a Plucky Duck

There was a duck
that had the pluck,
the oomph and the nerve,
the courage and verve,
to leave the farm,
braving all harm,
on a fateful night
by bright moonlight.
All went well,
at least for a spell.
till it gave a last quack
on a beaten track
when a farmer’s truck
put an end to the luck.
 of our brave little duck.
as well as this ditty.
Oh, what a pity!...

Emily , Come Sit By Me To Emily Dickinson
EMILY
                             COME, SIT BY ME

                      Emily--
                           Come,
                                  Sit by me --

We’ll watch the singing chicks of starlings searching --
Searching--hopping through the plucky dawn as the blue jumps from the sky--
Never finding the treasure sought that nestles smugly under the next stone.

My Hallowed Song
Before we can retreat into today let darkness flee
Intelligence, today designs a time when we get away
Yes, she lifts me up like a king, I’m free
My stay in earthly school she keeps me today
It gives me strength to know her love lives
Ah my princess, bless me so, carry me high
Love lives, a gem, a shining star that gives
Blessed, fly, my hallowed song with loves soft sigh
Lighten me with flashes from your eyes, I see

When Darkness Falls
When darkness falls upon the haunts of night
creatures big and small forget to slight
betwixt the moon and shadows of the eve,
I too am rendered nil
by the infamy of secrets never told
inside this earth based hide away
the grass lives moist;

Listen to this forest, rich and deep
where plucky feet of brave walk on

Despite the darkness
of the night,

the stars insist,
on shining
their own light.

Tiger Cat
We had a brave cat about two years old,
With a great big heart and courage bold.
A neighbor’s dog chased her home one day,
To the window ledge, where he held her at bay.

He barked and leaped and tried to bite,
But our little cat showed a plucky fight.
With tiger stripes upon her back,
She bravely defended against attack.

He tried to leap and nip her toes,
But her sharp claws slashed his nose.
Her hunched back was plain to see,
He’d be smarter to let her be....

Every
Every meal can’t be a winner.
Every book won’t win a prize.
What seems great to a beginner
May be average in disguise.

Every play won’t win a Tony.
Not all films get good reviews.
Every Oscar ceremony
Pans the actors who did lose.

Every purchase won’t be flawless.
Every gift won’t be ideal.
Some successes might be aweless,
Contrary to what you feel.

Every effort won’t be lucky.
Every word can’t be just right.
Still, we try, and if we’re plucky,
There will be a poem to write....

Royal Rhyme
Once upon a STRENGTH, in a million WEALTH
Lived a PRINCESS, who hated KISSES
Gifted with INTELLIGENCE , she knew she had ELEGANCE
But the SCHOOL KING, with his STING
Knew how to get LIGHT, with his MIGHT
The princess had to RETREAT, so she started to TWEET
Which grew STEM, and she became a GEM
Which to her life was an added ZEST, she was so BLESSED

The Bright Princess
For Plucky Two by Nine Contest:

The PRINCESS was one that all wanted to IMPRESS
Her SCHOOL kept her intellect current not a FOOL
The KING sought a worthy man for her RING
A RETREAT from tradition would prove an uneasy FEAT
Her INTELLIGENCE would keep her from fancying any GENTS
Many BLESSED suitors stopped by to parade their BEST
With STRENGTH she must stop this at any LENGTH
Poking LIGHT fun as none of them looked BRIGHT
Her GEM of herself was much brighter than THEM...
