My Kite
I look what words meant in dictionaries
Yet not enough to paint my verses
To dissipate in a shire where nest blown
Fly away as paper kite to a land unknown...

Mankind
Mankind,
Years back ,
People who built
Where there were more trees,
They were called all bad names
Find in dictionaries
But nowadays
Many cities turning into forest shapes
To be well - known beautiful and moderns.

Am Sorry
A million words
A thousand dictionaries and yet
I cannot find the perfect word to say, am sorry
Am sorry, I was such a fool
Am sorry, I had broken all the rules
But most of all
Am sorry, I couldn't find just the perfect word
To say, am sorry....

Premium Member A Dictionary
Man is a living thing
With going perspectives
With changes
In characters and behaviours
In the spiritual and mterial worlds
Too difficult to understand thoroughly
Are psychology, philosophy, religion
The dictionaries
To solve these puzzles
I wonder...

Words
I
Words may be left
Untouched
Undeployed
Unemployed
Unused
Under utilised
In hands, mouths,
Dictionaries
Power pregnant but
Potential

II
Words with heart
Grow wings
Kinetic Energy
Kinesthetics, gymnastics,
Comic relief
Healing and Belief

III
Have you used
Neglected or Abused
Pregnant and potential
Words Today?...

squirrel quietly glides across yard, under fence.... blueberry patch waits
Date: 6/22/2022 Checked online on syllable counter. com It says glides has two syllables, but according to two dictionaries it does not have two syllables. Therefore, there are 5/7/5 syllables in this one. I checked it with Poetry soup's syllable and it was 5/7/5....

Cakeage
The word of the day is cakeage;
It’s when restaurants charge a fee
For bringing in an outside cake,
Which never used to be.

In fancy places, oenophiles
Prefer to bring their wine,
So there’s a corkage fee, which many
Seem to feel is fine.

But up ‘til now, I’ve never heard
Of anything called cakeage,
Though dot com dictionaries likely
Don’t make a mistakeage....

Words Fail Me
Intellect in disarray,
Eloquence falls short, again.
You, perfect picture, in my mind’s eye,
Words often fail when they aim to describe.

I look in every lexicon,
Delving into dictionaries,
Empty out encyclopaedias,
Thumbing through the thesauri...

I conclude no words compare to you,
Descriptions weak and rarely true.
No word does justice, phrases fail
To truly tell what you entail....

Premium Member Fragrant
Dictionaries define fragrant as a sweet aroma; a pleasant, agreeable smell. Yet, a fragrant odor's a sensual treat that affects our mood much more than these words tell. What makes a smell sweet is subjective, of course, but a fragrant bouquet draws us to its source. Fond memories tethered to a fragrant scent, oft recall pleasantries and times well spent.

His hand on the trigger
The little boy cocked his gun
His friends ran away
Cos' they would not play
With a boy that was no fun

Note...
Laugh in a half-suppressed and typically scornful way
Snicker in American Sn....... in English as in all dictionaries with no offensive connotations whatsoever.
I find the exclusion of the rest of the word in my poem out of my comprehension....

There are no rules
None at all
Stop dotting I’s, stop crossing T’s
Murder every word
Form is for Bureaucrats, verse for fools
Better a fool than a static form
Use an army of pens and paper and crush all the rules
Grammar, syllables, spelling, all fodder for slaughter
Rules are for dictionaries
Poetry should flow from the soul
If you words sing true from your heart
You have conquered the art of expression
You, my friend have won the war of poetry...

Premium Member In My Writing Space
In my writing space
With pen and paper
Two dictionaries near
As well a thesaurus
All handy when needed
Now ready to create poems
Wondering what to write
Trying hard to ponder
My eyes heavy from
   lack of sleep
Did not slumber well
Battle to stay awake
Wanting to write a poem
No luck tonight- I tried
Will give it up and turn
              in
Then create my poetry
Tomorrow i will be alert
To begin to write again
In my writing space...

Words Lost Expressions
Word for word is said
Looks are the meaning
Dictionaries are not expression
They define without meaning
A letter is absent of thought
Only words on parchment
Without meaning there is
Confusion with no harmony
Only the guessing is left
Hurt becomes anger and
Love is lost without
The true meaning
A letter express your thoughts
Interpreted without true
Meaning
Example: Poetry
Some are in harmony with
Your thoughts
Others get it wrong...

Words I and Ii
Words I
The meaning has fallen out
And the words don’t know it yet
They hang in the air,
Heavy with their own importance
Soon they will fall
On their flat little faces
And the dictionaries
Will turn over in their graves

Words II
I coax the letters
Into words
They are hopeful

They want to say
Something
Worthwhile

On the open expanse
Of the white page
They claim their space

Knowing
They are stronger together
Than they were alone...

Premium Member The Meeting of the Bobble Heads
Another meeting of the bobble heads
Will hopefully soon adjourn
A motion has been passed
A blogosphere, concern
With their dictionaries in hand
They find some words to use
New business on the floor
To help them fight their blues
With the king up on his soap box
They all now raise their glass
He thinks his words bring wisdom
But they’re really lacking class
This meeting of the minds
Is really just a joke
It’s just another excuse
To stir the soup and poke...

Masked Ball
Suspicious vows mocking arouse
classic gowns masked ball an spouse
reflection of dark eyes in all mirrors
red dresses of pure silk satin
men's tux fervently impassioned
scent of an unknown mystical dawn
sudden back to violin an tango vin
worried figure takes place heartfelt
may i have this dance madam
hence float the scent deep faint
moves freely like antonyms dictionaries
compared by experts an missionaries
unexpectedly sunk in a crush
an flee out of th' ball in rush...

Poetic Joy
My hands are leafing through ancient lore
The dust on each cover is carefully removed
I sit on my bed and surround myself with poetry
reading dictionaries for the thrill of learning a new word
I study foreign languages to keep my mind sharp
feasting on fiction that keeps me awake to the Witching Hour
memorize villanelles and couplets a-plenty
grabbing at bookmarks to keep my place in realms
Singing odes and practicing accents in the shower
This is what Literature and Poetry do.....

To Write Palestine
I know how it is, after they're done in the killing fields, they'll turn to
ban your name in the dictionaries.
But, on my car and on the trees, on the sands of desert, and on every beach,
I will write your name.
On all books in the library
on the front page of New York Times
On every cemetery gravestone,
on every subway stop,
I write your name.
Even on the bombs that drop on your heads,
on their weapons of mass destruction,
on the forehead of their soldiers,
I write your name.
