LABYRINTHINE PATHS
“You have no need to travel anywhere—journey within yourself. Enter a mine of rubies and bathe in the splendor of your own light.” Rumi
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I walk softly into the labyrinth,
knowing not what I will find.
Cautiously, I journey within.
Through labyrinthine paths I meander
seeking answers.
Expectantly, I journey within.
Time unfolds like an origami crane,
‘art of being’ stitched to its wings.
Silently I journey within.
I take apart this paper sculpture
each fold a lesson in being.
Optimistically, I journey within.
I look for truth on the crumpled paper,
the complex duality of my existence.
Scrupulously, I journey within.
My heart is a labyrinth,
its chambers filled with longing.
Joyfully, I journey within.
I emerge, transformed, quietly reassured.
The journey within is the journey home.
"Every age yearns for a more beautiful world. The deeper the desperation and the depression about the confusing present, the more intense that yearning."
- Johan Huizinga
Within these white walls of wellness and weakness
lie labyrinths of life changing lies
Needless needles nip like nuisance nettles
Scary scans scrupulously scrutinize
Doctors dressed in drab garbs declare dreadful news
making moody me feel all the more miserable
Circumstances circle with cyst-like certainty
Persistent problems promote psychological pandemonium
Yearnings of yesterday yell and yammer for youthfulness
Lost in listlessness, I lament in laboured longing
Applause…applause for a magical dove
transformed
coming out from
betrayal after betrayal
Once - well that can happen
Twice - hmm, wow, scratch the head
Third time - you best get wise
The scratch of a psychiatrist pen
eyeing you under a microscope
Jesus asked the man, by the pool of Bethesda,
“Do you want to get well?”
Too much serpent - scrupulously hands Eve an apple
Too much dove - disadvantage unsettling
The Bible advises: Be as wise as a serpent
and as harmless as a dove
News media’s job is to report what happened
Tell me
WHO
WHAT
WHEN
WHERE!
Please refrain from editorializing
and, certainly, from undue sanitizing
We do not need a lot of commentary
from folks who want us to believe the contrary
FROM THE LEFT,
FROM THE MIDDLE,
FROM THE RIGHT!
Scrupulously tell us the truth, I say.
If I want a journalist’s opinion, for goodness sakes,
I will read the editorial page.
Or, skim through the pages of USA Today.
Hey, I am not stupid.
I heard what was said.
I can figure out the WHY!
Who Tell lies?
“Hey, this is the internet everybody lies.”
this was a throwaway sentence in a TV program
forgotten by the one who spoke the line or when
it sounded right.
It made me think is the world less honest now we have internet?
If this is so is it because we don´t see the people we lie to.
What about me do I tell lies?
Yes, at times when intrusive people ask questions
I find no ground to answer. I´m also a writer and use things I have
heard or read what happened in my and others live to tell a story.
but in my private life, I`m scrupulously honest and take a dim
view of lies told to make the teller bigger
to borrow money because they have fallen on a temporary
a hard time when in fact they try to use people.
In the past I've treated New Year's resolutions with contempt and flout;
Most of them were of little importance and quite lilliputian.
Therefore, this year I've made a resolution that I'll scrupulously carry out;
I've made a resolution not to make another resolution!
Mother warblers, in song, return to their forage,
inspecting for insects, fresh from dusk's storage
at daybreak.
Scrupulously swooping, they return with mouths full
to their precious nest, rousing little chicks from lull
with dayglow.
Eager to increase, competing to feed,
beaks chirp for churned grubs, as mother meets their need
ere daytime.
Feathers rise from bare skin, budding gently like leaves.
A tapestry of warmth, these provisionary sleeves
like daylight.
Gazing up at flapping leaves and an open blue sky,
one day they'll reach freedom, as they learn how to fly...
their daydream.
The argument started, both parties saying their views;
both raising voices trying to put afterthought logic.
No chance to end soon though tension mounted;
Then one of them says, don’t interrupt,” as if she never interrupts;
The other says, “don’t be judgmental,” as if she is never judgmental,
Exchange of moral principles continues;
Both pretend to have one standard, when the other one has nothing;
Issue is when one is more positive about one thing then
obviously, less positive she is about its opposite.
If one is kind to one person, then she is unkind to others;
One can’t be kind to everyone.
Is it not surprising when one speaks something
but, doing just the opposite and expecting others to follow
scrupulously and continuously judge others critically.
We fail to judge ourselves though never we stop to judge others.
Are we not all hypocrites in some sense?
A woman, or a girl,
hooded and hiding,
may pensively gaze down
at the sun, or a sinking stone.
Or a man, not a boy,
neither hooded nor hiding,
may, in her stead, gaze, ecstatic, upward
at the corner of the mystery.
A crawler on the oceans floor
may cling as an ocean crawler would,
sucking up whatever remains
from the feeding frenzy above.
Or a larger beast
may extend its armoured frame upward
and arch its back to swallow
the sun, or a sinking stone.
A jester, or provocateur, laughing quietly,
is surely nearby,
suspended upside down for now,
he, too, will change with the change.
Stones cast off, or scrupulously gathered,
and the bleeding edge of enigma,
may change or remain the same,
we won’t know until we turn.
Excuse me if I appear to be abrupt
but I find your sensibilities and ethics corrupt,
a leader of people should be a visionary
scrupulously clean and who speaks with brevity,
not a person who seeks solely to divide
to make it easier to control all of the sides,
the manipulate and create forms of xenophobic hate
I see your actions as no more than a disgrace,
discriminating based around sexuality of race
in this world there should be no place,
for this kind of leadership to transcend into a modern age.
Mother Earth
brings virgin birth
to hunting and gathering EarthTribes,
reforesting and rechorusing creolization,
ionizing and lionizing harmonization,
ergodic rhythmed and seasonally rhymonizing,
thermodynamic and radiant ecstaticizing
native First Nations
through Last Shall Be First ReCreations.
On the more RightWing side,
the commodified planet of earth
and water
and air
and fire
to be aimed at
and against
each other
is what's rightfully,
if somewhat ballistically, left
of the raped and pillaged,
drilled and fracked,
industriously enslaved
Breeding and Bearing and eventually Butchered *****
once more scrupulously known as Sacred Mother Earth
venture-capital invested
by Father SunFire.
Love’s passionate angel plucks romance’s harp,
studies scrupulously, keeps arrows sharp,
covers strawberries with chocolate silk,
searches for sensations - creamy as milk.
Cupid primps rose cups, paints valentine red.
He ensures, each long stem dozen’s, pure bred.
Then he searches out auspicious jewels,
and threads them from silver and golden spools.
He catches just the right spark in “their” eyes,
connects “him with her” though she is quite shy.
With accuracy Cupid pulls the string -
Lets go! Bow flies! True north to their heart’s bling.
A lad and lass – remove their virgin wool.
Painful is love, but all so wonderful.
Yours is a horrendous bother
I decode one side, you obfuscate another!
I twist and turn, twist and turn again
Fingers engrossed around your parts, another twist
extirpates the other side! My enthusiasm refuses to wane.
I warp your shifting visage, weave the obliterated wrist,
Only succeeding to dislodge several faces,
I continue defacing your six surfaces…
In my euphoric endeavors to somehow unwind,
The unfathomable thoughts in your wavering mind,
I take manifold cyclical turns, like a brisk walk in fog,
Your complex anonymity refuses to unclog!
My flirtatious advances, don’t inveigle your resolve?
Chances to demystify you, in vain I solve,
I stare at your complacent maze,
you’re smug, with a mystic gaze!
Still in downright disarray
my curiosity, undone by dismay,
You’re unfazed, as you obliviously recline
Further inquests, but you obstinately decline!
I scrupulously ingest your manual again,
And brace for another futile try,
Why am I so smitten, as if to ascertain
If afterward, you’ll still be awry!?
I remember how
clean his eyeglasses were.
He took care of himself.
and expected people to
listen when he spoke.
.
With his black,
political, contrasty suit,
scrupulously laundered,
his face was red and
he took large steps.
.
I remember the honor
in his presence,
as if he had some
magical favors
he could grant.
