A cruise to an island
or someplace way up north?
To Alaska I
maybe could sally forth.

Alaska has scenes of
fjords and so much more:
mountains, lakes and places
with interesting lore.

Wildlife is plentiful.
An orka you might see.
Learn gold rush history.
In scenic Juneau be.

Cruises to hotter climes
are such a cinch to find
if stops at coastal towns
and beaches you don’t mind.

Those cruises also have
many great tourist sights
equal to Alaska’s
in numerous delights.

The tipping balance is
for me the sun and sand,
and a nice pina
colada in my hand.

To Be Cold Or Not To Be Cold

That is the question
We sit and contemplate the cold outside
Plan is to walk, out there, outside, and there is it a cold day indeed
So here we sit, inside, warm, comfortable, protected
And we make going out noises, try to affirm our want to go
Yet not making much effort, each passing moment maybe a further determination
Faces looking skeptical, observing trees waving in a wind we know is colder than in our cosy house
She sees others out there and compares their resolve with our lack
We know that we shall, must, will, be brave
A pile of extra clothes put on, trying to transfer our warm protection to out there
Yet be cold we must, no option but to sally forth
Such a difficult thing to do, is this making of decision
We shall after all go out and embrace to cold, wild, winter and put it off no longer.

Premium MemberMy Secret Place

Sometimes when life's a hectic mess and I feel most alone,
And things don't seem to turn out right, my heart feels like a stone,

Buried deep inside my chest and I need consolation,
I have a secret place I go for rest and meditation.

A quiet place where I can go and lay my burdens down,
A place where tension slowly ebbs, lifts pressure from my brow.

My special place is not a room that anyone can enter,
Or follow me intruding on my inner sanctum's center.

I found this place within myself, a strong and sturdy fortress,
Where I can rebuild self esteem and strengthen waning prowess,

To face once more the daily grind, the endless worldly contest,
I sally forth now self assured, I can and will make progress.

Different peoples infest.

Aimless swoops pluck.

Yellow swoops prowl.

Local societies loll.

Industrialized societies sally forth.

Grand impieties affront.

Horrid impieties affront don't wanna get up NOW!.

Terrestrial planets star earths closer to the sun.

Societies loiter wasting away at night.

All souls devour must get up earlier.

Violent westerner's gobble days just begun.

Industrialized societies squall.

Numerous barbarisms hound.

Gentle souls hunt as the sun comes up early.

Tangled sunbeams lair.

Individual thunderstorms spume.

Many souls sic.

Earlier impieties affront more time to play outside.

as sunset burns the distant sky
awakening small things that fly
to sally forth into the night
to sniff you out and take a bite
while others like a drilling rig
not quite so small, but not real big
will puncture you and take a swig
buzz around your ears and face
while you slap at empty space
a spider spins its silky trap
in hopes it may catch fleeing prey
gift wrap it for another day
thus does the moon claim darkened sky
wherein the pesky buzzers fly.

Staying the Same

It’s easy to do nothing
Though there’s lots I’d like to change.
The old stuff is familiar,
With no need to rearrange.

So I find if I procrastinate
The hours melt away
And before I know what hit me –
Poof! There goes another day.

I admire those who sally forth
And tackle things they should.
It would be so great to join them
And I’d do it if I could.

Splice

SPLICE
T itivated to accomplish (a) mazing things.
H eaven bound it seems.
E verlasting in faith and belief
C ause I only have me to be.
R eaching for attainment that is hard to achieve.
O utward spiraling to acquire my wants and needs.
S uch desires are to be.
S pectacular is how I feel.
E ffervescence is humbling.
S equestering greater altitudes!
I nvigorating my surrounding world!
N ot denying the complexities that has formed.
Y et informing my acumen, I am
O pen minded to new ideas.
U pbeat even when down.
R arely ever will a frown be found.
E difice to a golden way, I
Y awn to release the agitation.
E very day is demonstrative
S oldiering vigorously, therefore let's sally forth.

Splice...
In front of me he stands in disgust.
I know that life is not what it shows.
Nonetheless, this is addressable.

A New Walk On Old Feet

in stranger shoes I amble forth
each print of sole measured by size of fit
heaven forbid i might one day break step
place foot in virgin earth
to wear ones own path
on earth and sole
unfettered by bonds of accepted gaits
but I must
I must rattle my cage
loosen the ties
kick off my cumbersome designer jackboots
and sally forth barefoot...
If even just once in a while
even momentarily
even just imagine so

Live For Flight

LIVE TO FLIGHT

In layered comforts embrace I lay,
Dripping dreams and skimming unknowns
Warm and secure in isolation and fantasy
My mind drives me away to lands anew.
There I walk and sometimes fly
Without wings of reason to bind my feet
To see a world of possible impossible
There to free the spirit, let loose the heart
Fill the soul to the brim with joy and wonder
As I sally forth through latent thoughts
And live for flight another day.

As I pass the Bookstore,
I can smell the parchment of opened books.
The colorful covers call me forth.
The stories continuously call my name.
The poetry asks me why I’m not there.
My poems chide me to hurry and sally forth.
Here my need to write attacks my soul.
As passion over whelms my heart,
I scurry home to do my part.
Maybe someday my dreams and talent,
Will tear down the barriers so I too, can display my art.

A Day In the Sun

I long for silence
a day in the sun
when all these harsh whispers
are quiet and undone

I hear an angel somewhere
calling falling
softly in his rage of flight
burning out in the twilight

A prayer in silence is a blessing
a life lived hard through the testing
what can the blind be missing
when god is in the art of kissing

A portrait of a saint
a face in the mirror
my heart in hand
my love inferrior

A tree comes down
a tree now dead on ground
i heard it cry yesterday
now no sound or anything to say

Is this the earth i wanted to save
full of broken hearts and unmarked graves
I bled so long, i've done such wrong
every broken life was a job well done

Soldiers in handbags
sally forth sally forth
a cross in a fist
to show you god's worth

I guess it makes some sense
for some to show some recompense
for all the things they had done
oh god the things they had done

For just one day of silence
a day in the sun
where I didn't hear a gunshot
when we weren't killing someone
