Notes About The Poem

Title chosen: A Tipping Balance

______________________________________________________________________

A Tipping Balance

A cruise to an island
or someplace way up north?
To Alaska I
maybe could sally forth.

Alaska has scenes of
fjords and so much more:
mountains, lakes and places
with interesting lore.

Wildlife is plentiful.
An orka you might see.
Learn gold rush history.
In scenic Juneau be.

Cruises to hotter climes
are such a cinch to find
if stops at coastal towns
and beaches you don’t mind.

Those cruises also have
many great tourist sights
equal to Alaska’s
in numerous delights.

The tipping balance is
for me the sun and sand,
and a nice pina
colada in my hand.

Andrea, I find your take on the theme rather unique and refreshing. It inspires wanderlust. Stunning imagery throughout your poem. Heartiest congratulations on your win in my contest!

Andrea, I'm with you. Alaska is fun and very interesting. It's a lot of work getting around, but the people are very nice. Your poem sums it up quite well. Smiles!!

Any cruise can be delightful.... to Alaska would be wonderful! Equally entertaining and thrilling will be a cruise to hotter climes with sandy beaches and warm sun. But not sure, which will tip the balance. Andrea, you have nailed it.

Love the last two lines, Andrea. Perhaps -- the 'tipsy balance.' ~ Smiles, Gershon

Nice poem on Alaska. Going there on a summer cruise and enjoying a pina colada will be nice.

You know me.. I love a good rhyme..but I also enjoy a good pina colada, so this hits the mark instantly on two levels. Blessings, Andrea. S:) x

Wish I could get the little mark that goes over the word pina!

I hope this wins in his contest, because it was descriptive and you are right. Most people I think, would choose a warmer cruse to one up north, but oh the beauty of nature herself.

Going north would only be for the scenic part. I would not want to leave the ship. haha
